FFXIII-2 "Requiem of the Goddess" launch trailer

Wait, there is a post-credit sequence.

lololololol

Lightning talks about Etro and that other god (the B one), and then it shows "XXX Years Later" with Lightning walking around the Dying World, and that's it.

Lol, seeing all these spoiler TAGs here tells me there's some sort of story revelation in it. I'm hyped as hell. Especially about the teasing of XIII-3 or whatever it is. Can't fucking wait for tomorrow.

Take those tags with a grain of salt.

Gotta wait til translation but as far as I'm concerned that didn't resolve.... Stuff.

Anyways, is there a way to turn off that annoying "Final Fantasy XIII-2: The story so far.... WE CAN CATCH HIM" thing in the game?

lol "story revelation."

Yeah I know, it's probably just more bullshit, bad writing, plot holes and cliff hangers. But that's what I wanted from this DLC; afterall I always wanted the story to continue on XIII-3 :D

edit.

How long is this episode in the end?

*chuckle*

I think you'll be happy, regardless? Edit: Yeah. You'll be happy.

Not the sort of resolution that people were looking for, not really. It
explains Lightning's situation in the ending, but the stuff during post-credits seems to lead into another title. I can't expect them to mop up everything that happened in the original ending with a rather short DLC episode.

Anyway, this is the first time I've ever seen coliseum footage. So it's like that? Interesting. It's not something that really interests me, but I guess it's good that it's there for people who want it. It's really too bad they didn't throw a freebie battle at you in-game to demonstrate how the coliseum is executed, though.

It has to be 13-3. I don't think there's anything they can do in DLC form unless they do a full expansion pack or something.

I guess the Omega Ultimania will explain it all, as it's supposed to give interviews on the DLCs as well.

If they're aiming for an expansion pack a la "DA:O Awakening", the E3 could have already some info even before Ultimania is out. That depends on them. Certainly the timing of these last DLC releases, urgently putted out before E3 (or Ultimania, same month afterall) is suspicious at best...

Saw the last cutscenes from it... really reminded me how little I care for the whole Serah/Lightning sister story.

As for the content itself, it's about what I expected - they bridged the gap between the ending and added a bunch of 'don't forget me, sister!' and 'one day I'll save you!' ect ect...

Whether or not they'll do a XIII-3, honestly... just end it in a novel or a short movie at this point to satisfy the few who care. It'd be better than a third game with even more asset reuse, imo.

An expansion pack could be nice, though. And by expansion pack I mean the good old PC expansion packs that came before the age of console DLC.

Reading all these posts about the DLC ending.... makes me feel like a fool for believing in 1 second that SE going to end the story in DLC.

Of course they will milk it from some useless DLC then release FFXIII-3 to milk it even more to the last last drop of milk.

I miss these days when you buy game at full price and it's a complete package :\

I'd take a movie, an OAV or a downloadable expansion pack at this point.
I'd prefer a sequel, though.

lol, really? guess i'll watch it later
There's a scene at the end
post-credits
that... uh, expands on it, I guess. Trailer shows everything you have to play through, but not all of the cutscenes, rehashed or new.

Yeah, isn't that a little odd, since that was one of the major focal points of the original game? That scene was going on with all of its "please don't forget me, お姉ちゃん!" and "I'll save you!" dialogue and I wasn't really paying attention. It might have a bit to do with the fact that I don't care for Lightning at all, but eh.

I guess the purpose of it was
to be reminiscent of Final Fantasy XIII and to show that Serah and Lightning had a deep familial bond. I wasn't really getting much out of it, to be honest. By the end of FFXIII-2, Serah showed that she was incredibly self-sufficient and ended up being a hero on her own, separate from Lightning... and the journey, while starting as a hunt for Lightning, became something else for Serah herself. From their dialogue in the main game, I almost felt like they were detached from each other, but that sort of mentality existed in the original game as well. So... I guess even though they tried to demonstrate that deep familial bond in that scene, it sort of came across as flat.

And then at the end, Lightning's like, (DLC ending spoilers)
I'll wait until eternity until I reawaken. And then she wakes up in A Dying World.
The novel coming is supposed to take place before all of this, so... I sorta see a third game coming.

Er, I was not familiar with voices in the Japanese version of this game, but before Lightning encounters
Serah's hologram or whatever, the voice taunting her and telling her a whole bunch of nonsense was Yeul's voice
, right?

Making a novel instead of a sequel or expansion pack will be the most idiotic way to end this series. It's important for Square Enix to at least keep taking care of the core fans that stayed 'till the end with it, while also making future plans to win the lost ones back. I liked XIII-2 and I expect a proper conclusion to it, no some cheap novel with bad writing in it. I bet they don't want to lose even more fans by pissing off the few remaining.

I can certainly see the third game....

I guess Toriyama must have consulted Normura. This whole 13-2 and Lightning DLC thing is so kingdom hearts.....

More like they're copying western practices.

DLC yes. But I mean the story telling....Especially in Lightning's DLC, those cutscenes are like taken straightly from a KH game...but with FF characters..

At least I can still follow KH's plot..For 13-2, I just gave up....T_T

I wanna see if there will be improvements over the "dialogue system" introduced with XIII-2. I'd like to see something more effective a la Bioware games next time. The sequel could give them the opportunity they need to pratice with western RPG gameplay and features. I'm curious.

I can't see them concluding the XIII story with a light novel at all. It's too big for that sorta thing. Of course, I think a lot of people saw a FFXIII-3 after the JP version was released and people saw the ending anyway.

But there are many core fans of FF who just plain didn't like FFXIII, so you can't really indirectly criticize them for disliking something that just didn't cater to their interests at all. *shrug* In a series that's as big as this one, you're not always going to like every game in it.

...and many western games' narratives and worlds are generally expanded upon in novels too, now that I think about it.

Or they could just forget about it. I mean, they never concluded that shit with Genesis in the FF7 Compilation. So it's not like they care that much.

And that's ok, but I don't think XIII series is taking much resources out of the other teams. It's mostly now outsourced to Tri-Ace, and XIII-3 will probably keep being like that. You'll get your Versus and XV eventually, while XIII fans (there's some of them out there) keep playing what they liked. I think Square Enix knows that they must please everyone at this point.

I think eventually S-E will find a solution to that, they just didn't have the chance or resources to continue right now. But c'mon... it's FFVII. Another spin-off is 2-3 millions sold. It will eventually arrive :D

This is how the world ends,

this is how the world ends,

this is how the world ends,

not with a bang but a whimper....

Not really the same though.

No, it's not. They're listed as a third-party contractor, but I doubt that most of 13-2 was developed by Tri-Ace. If that were the case I'm sure they would be billed on the box, even if the design leads are from Square. That was the case for Dragon Quest and Level 5.

Also, publishers don't have to care about conclusions. Square can absolutely take a page from Sega's book and not do anything forever.
