Just announced in Japan. Odin will be a boss enemy in PSO2. Other details are scant. as a translation has yet to come through. Seriously though, what the hell is this insanity?

UPDATE: Trailer

What's the chances of this bonus content (if coming to 14) coming to the west? :(

That Odin PSO2 fight looks cool, but I don't think FF14 will get anything aside from maybe a minion/outfit/jewlery because of how different the two settings are.

Didn't someone datamine PSO2 and find some FFXIV stuff recently? If I recall they found models for the FFXIV relic weapons in there.

Japanese game companies often collaborate with each other. Why don't western studios do something similar?
1) They do. 2) it's perhaps a bit rarer overall because Japan = 1 country, whereas west = not just 1 country, so collaborating between dev studios that are potentially thousands of kilometers apart is perhaps a bit unlikelier.

Looks like it has real effort put in it and not just a reskin of an existing boss and called it a day. I like how the boss mechanics are the same, it even uses danger zones to telegraph attacks like in FFXIV and wipes the party if they don't DPS it fast enough.

There will probably be FFXIV clothes and parts too.

Hopefully FFXIV gets PSO2 armor sets and weapons, I would glamour the shit out of them.

*sigh...it's a shame however that Phantasy Star is such a force fed cash cow now a days. What was once a deliberate, sci-fi fantasy world brought to life in each iteration is now subject to collab after collab, in a giant milkshake of all the worst things nobody wants in an MMO...I mean collabs are fun once in a whole but I'm just sad what phantasy star has become...it's basically a F2P marketing platform now.

For some reason, I though we already knew that this was coming. Video of their Odin fight is really cool. We need more crossover events in XIV. Not a huge fan of Lightning but I enjoyed her event as well as the DQ and XI event.

While that is bad. The Shining Force series hasn't been the same since Shining Force Neo came out and perpetually turned the series into some mediocre diablo clone instead of the awesome Tactical Strategy RPG origins it had, of course I should probably give credit to Shining in the Darkness as well which was a cool First Person RPG.

I don't even want to get started on Streets of Rage either, at least the fan made Streets of Rage Remake was awesome.

It's tough being a Sega fan though.

Looking at the silver lining though, at least things are sorta turning around for the Yakuza series.

But will they be able to reach the DPS check?

What am I saying, of course they will. They're Japanese gamers and know how to play their jobs.

Unless PSO2 is coming to the west, we don't want to know!

Yeah but some of us are playing XIV and are hoping on some reciprocation. Of which there will probably be none, but PSO has enough weapons to fit each respective class so it could work.

Make this shit happen YoshiP.
At worst I expect a minion based on PSO to shatter the dream.

The fight looks surprisingly similar to the FF XIV one, at least from what I remember.

It's a pretty faithful adaptation of the EX version I think. Almost 1:1 down to indicators.
There was no PSO stuff datamined last patch though, so chances are good we'll get nothing out of this. Shame.

If I can dress in female Force clothing in FFXIV or as a Mi'Quote in PSO2 I will seriously freak out in happiness.

Mi'Quote clothes already confirmed it seems.

Just play on the JP servers. There's a decently sized English community and regular fan patches to story, items, and NPC chatter. It ain't perfect, but it gets the job done.

Now... if only classic Phantasy Star could find a way to collab with PSO2...

And last I heard, "Gaijin-Hunter" mobs that mass-report anyone speaking English.

Indeed they did. This was suspected for quite some time not only due to the interview between the directors and the mentioned data mined stuff.

Eh. Not entirely true per say. English isn't against TOS (if that was the case, B1 and B20 would have been long gone.) however what the people who say they got banned for speaking english neglect the following things: Spamming memes / inappropriate symbol arts, announcing publicly you're using the patch and violating TOS or they got caught being a total leech in multi-party play. They never mention the full story and the english community is spread all about across multiple servers. There's always more to those "I got banned." stories then there is.

Kinda comes with the territory of being an unexpected hit that just a company latches onto as per usual with Japanese media. Let alone companies experiencing a level of success that's incredibly rare. Atlus fans had to deal with it recently with Persona 3 and 4 being so popular so now it's attack of spin-offs and the insertion of Persona systems into other SMT games such as Social Links into Devil Survivor. I am very curious though what the direction the game would have been and how different it may have been if it wasn't exploding to what it is now.

I'm so hyped. Sadly I stopped playing XIV about 5 months ago so I will more than likely not experience this collaboration on XIV's side. But PSO 2 is life and I cannot wait!

I've never seen or even heard of these people and I play regularly and talk openly.

Yeah, this is pretty much BS. There are plenty of English speakers in Japan who would play PSO2 so it would be pure folly for Sega to ban on the basis of spoken or written language.
