I hope we could fight the summons and other boss fights Dragon Dogma style. Climb onto the targets manually and take out their weak points.

Wonder how the party combo works.

You are in luck sir this is practically already confirmed. You can even see Noctis climbing on a behemoth in the recent trailers, and targeting specific bodyparts to deal more damage can also be seen when the party targets multiple bodyparts on the behemoth.

I look forward to Shimomura's OST. I hope if there is anyone who assists her on the OST it should be the composers who helped with BBS.

And also she is the first main female composer for a mainline FF game!

Can't wait to hear more from FFXV's OST. The three songs we've heard so far are all pretty fantastic pieces. There's a certain melancholy to all the arranged tracks so far. I love it.

For years I loved listening to Somnus. But I really love the new song in the E3 trailer from last year.

Im really interested to see how summons will work considering Leviathan is the size of a leviathan.....
What Im hoping for is that the classic summons wont actually be summonable, but will be boss characters instead, and classic FF enemies will be summons instead
So the classic summons will be these huge terrifying beast like they are to your enemies in the older games

Hope they do a figure line of the main cast members too...

Is that a Play Arts Kai figure in the works? sssssssshhhhhiiiiiiiiiiittttttt son, time to order.

You know, I constantly tell myself not to get hyped, and then these threads pop up. This isn't helping you know. I really don't want to place myself in a position where I will be really disappointed.

I find stella's new design to be much better compared to the old one. The new design is a grown up Namine in her late teen, early twenties. Always a plus.

also, I really think we will be seeing a new trailer with more gameplay this E3. They took this long possibly to build hype? Not sure. It would be really strange if we don't see a new trailer, plus, I hope this is not XIII all over again.

I forgot if it was mentioned, but do the characters have classes yet?

This is all entirely speculation, but we can identify specific FF class traits within most of the characters.

Noctis is a Red Mage, he is an all rounder jack of all trades.

From what we've been told, Noctis can use all magic and weapons, much like a Red Mage is able, but he isn't exactly proficient in their use like the other characters, he is a jack of all trades master of none, from the trailers comparing his magic and HP stats along with his physical damage output to the others, we can tell his magic skills are mid tier, his physical damage is mid tier and his HP is also mid tier, the only thing he has going is his high speed, he has a good balance between being ranged and close in combat, also to note, when swinging the Buster swords he has trouble swinging them and has to build momentum in the swing, unlike Gladiolus who swings his giant sword rather effortlessly.

Ignis is a Black Mage, highly proficient in magic and uses knives like a Black Mage does.

In the 2011 trailer we can see that Ignis has higher magic stats than anyone else in the party, more than Noctis too, he can use a long sword too, but the core thing here is his high magic stat, in his official character descriptions they mention he is of high intelligence, which in FF games intelligence is attributed to magic stats, along with his use of knives, which is one of the few weapons that Black Mages typically use, his use of throwing knives and his proficiency in magic would suggest he is better suited to be a ranged fighter, but he can fight in close combat, too.

Gladiolus is a mix of Monk/Berserker/Gladiator.

He fights bare fisted and in a typical boxing pose, much like Tifa, he deals high physical damage, the highest out of the party shown thus far, and has the highest HP shown, he is best suited to close combat, he has tribal tattoos and an imposing beast like physique, which is a subtle reference to the tribal wear that Berserker's usually have, and he also fights with giant swords like a Gladiator class is able to, also the obvious name similarity between Gladiolus and Gladiator is possibly a nod to this.

Prompto is a Gunner/Ranger, he only uses guns, and he only fights ranged, so he is a Gunner.

Cor is a Samurai, he is described as an honor bound warrior, he is known as the "Immortal Shogun", and he uses a katana in battle.

We haven't seen him in combat yet, but these three descriptions of him being "honor bound warrior", honor being something samurai live by, him being known as the "Immortal Shogun", which is a term commonly given to high ranking samurai warriors, and him using a katana, a weapon which samurai use, these all share obvious traits with the Samurai class.

These characters are from Lucis, so they dress as people from a modern city do, and not dictated by their class, their class would come from their weapons and combat abilities.

Stella is a Rune Fencer/Mystic Knight, she uses a rapier as her main weapon and had some runes cast behind her, which is all I can really go on.

Idola and the hooded man are Summoners, they are both wearing white robes and both have an insignia of a Summon beast that they can Summon on them, being Bahamut and Fenrir respectively.

The old man in the red/blue armor with the crown looks to be a general of sorts, as he is leading a group of Niflheim soldiers, in the mugshot lineup his face was shown as a counterpart to Ignis, who is a tactician for Lucis, which was somewhat implying that Ignis, the younger inexperienced Black Mage, will come up against this elderly man with a lifetime of experience, which possibly implies he is either a Scholar, a Magus or a Sage.

With Noctis being a Red Mage, that would also imply that Regis, the man who resembles him and his men are also all possibly Red Mages, as they have the same combat abilities as Noctis.

For the other characters that we haven't seen much of, it's even harder to tell, we don't know anything at all about the black haired woman, the man who resembles Cor, or the Red haired man.

But something I noticed, the Red haired man might possibly be a Red Mage too, again, this is simply speculation, but he was shown with a hat, he has red hair, and he had a feather on him too, as well as having long open cloak, which are some minor design elements typically associated with a Red Mage, can't go on anything other than those.

With that said all these characters aren't the typical rendition of the classes, but most of their traits lean to common elements with specific classes.

Oh, and the Dragoon woman is a Dragoon, which is the only one that is actually confirmed.

Given how Leviathan looked, I am hyped for Bahamut .
On a side note, I hope we get Omega/Ultima weapon in full glory too.

Dragoon woman has been said to be an unimportant character.

I don't recall this ever being said.

Nomura even specifically mentions the Dragoon woman in an interview around E3 time last year.

And her entrance was much too extravagant to be just an unimportant grunt.

Yeah I knew that :D This game is ridiculous. It's got so many things going for it that caters to my taste it's crazy. I have been playing Final Fantasy for many years, and I have a special feeling for this game.

Evading Mega Flare...in real time. Glorious.

There will be playable female party members. Stella most likely joins the party, as well as the Dragoon woman.

Really? That dragoon lady seems like a bit of a stretch. I wasn't aware she would play an important role in this game. She seemed like one of those basic mini bosses you'd fight after a cutscene.

Stella, with the whole 'lovers destined to be enemies' thing, I imagined would eventually join the group. I'm secretly hoping she doesn't, though. It's too obvious of a choice to make with her and Noctis having a thing.

Yeah, kind of like FFXI. The summons are gods that are too much for people to truly control, especially the likes of Bahamut and Alexander. Similar interpretation in XIV in the 1.0 ending cutscene. Even FFIX went that route a bit.

With Leviathan looking that insane, with water shooting throughout the whole level chasing you, I can't even imagine the others. It's going to be insane.

Shakespeare spoiled FFXV's plot years ago.

Considering summons are confirmed to be combated before you can summon them and we know Leviathan is a boss fight and a "high ranking summon", I sincerely doubt he won't be summonable. However, this does means that, as you just wished, every summon in the game will be a gigantic boss fight for Noctis and co. to overcome. So, I hope that's still what you're looking for? Just imagine tearing after Ifrit through a burning city, or combating Shiva on a frozen ocean. I can't wait to see what they do with the scale of it all.

I'm fairly certain that the dragoon woman was confirmed as an elite enemy and not a playable party member. The enemies are already said to correspond to classic FF jobs, such as summoner and dragoon. I imagine that's all she was. For those speculating about what the various equivalent jobs of the characters are, here's what I've noticed:

Gladiolus seems to be a mixture between monk and knight, with bare-fisted strikes and heavy two-handed weapons in his arsenal. He has proven cover abilities and often defends Noctis, a staple of the knight job. He seems to be able to soak up a lot of damage, and has the highest HP of the group. Back in the 2011 trailer where characters had MP, Gladiolus' MP pool was as big as Noctis', surprisingly.

Ignis seems to be a mixture between ninja and red mage. He wields a katana and throwing weapons, and is said to be particularly good at magic. His HP pool is respectable but nowhere near Glad's, and in the 2011 trailer where characters had MP his pool was the largest by far.

Prompto is a gunner and perhaps an engineer. We know he can wield a lot of different sorts of guns, and there are a few suspicious grenades in the E3 trailers just recently that I think may have come from him. Back in the 2011 trailer where characters had MP, his pool was the smallest.

Cor seems to be a samurai. His katana also seems to be very large, larger than Ignis', if the ones facing the white-haired antagonist in the CGI facedown between him and King Caelum are any indication. This is all speculation as we've yet to see him in action, but given his title and his weapon I wouldn't be shocked if he was the heavy-hitting swordsman to Glad's tank.

And of course Noctis is a jack of all trades. He can wield every weapon, and his MP pool in the 2011 trailer was middle of the road. In the newest trailers, we saw him warping, an ability that is exclusive to him, and casting a ridiculously massive fire spell. I don't know if the fire spell's size was a product of Noctis being the caster or if magic has been changed that much from 2011 to become that destructive, but the warping ability and the close connection to the crystal means I wouldn't be shocked if Noctis' magic was just that impactful.

Nomura said back in 2011 that the Dragoon woman was unimportant and was just an enemy that is really hard to take down. Kinda like a mini boss.

Stella MIGHT join the party. And that is a big maybe. Because we know that Noctis and Stella (from the 2009 trailer) are going to clash. And I feel that clash will be one of the harder to watch battles in the game. Much like (infamous 2 evil spoilers)
how in Infamous 2 if you choose the evil route you have to kill your best friend Zeke. It was so hard to play that part. He was no challenge to take down but bringing yourself to kill your best friends was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in video games
.

I will be upset if it follows Hamlet's plot that closely.

I think there will be similarity but I think the game will have it's own twists and turns. It's "inspired" by Hamlet. Not reciting the whole play word for word; plot twist to plot twist.

Stella MIGHT join the party. And that is a big maybe.

I agree with you that it's very very up in the air whether or not she'll join. But I have to say, if she does I won't be disappointed even if it's a very very obvious plot "twist". After seeing Noctis' abilities and how excellent they are, I would be chomping at the bit to have another character with his level of power in the party and see what abilities she brings to the table.

She's very likely tied to a crystal after all.

It would be a fantastic plot element if Noctis and Stella can notice the time of death of their friends creeping closer and closer based on the power that they presumably have.

I don't recall this ever being said.

Nomura even specifically mentions the Dragoon woman in an interview around E3 time last year.

Just an early boss, confirmed. Yep.

My one and only gripe about this game so far has to be the all male cast (playable). I hope we get a girl in the mix.

SE has never said that those guys will be your only party members. I think they're just having fun watching fans bitch and moan about it, and plan on letting them be surprised when it turns out... there will be girls! So you can relax, this isn't Final Fantasy: N'Sync. Not once have I even considered the thought that there wouldn't be female party members.

One thing forgotten, they mentioned Manchester was also an area of inspiration for a location in XV. So, likely we're getting a location/city that looks like this:

Hell, I'd think that would be a perfect inspiration for Niflheim.

You managed to find some very pretty, sunny pictures of Manchester! It's usually much more grim looking in the perpetually grey north. :D

I just hope SE aren't gunshy about putting EDM and lyrics into FFs soundtracks this go around, after all of the idiots screaming about how "bad" the music in the XIII series was. FF soundtracks are at their best when they do non-traditional music (I love the rock themes in BD and XIV, for example)
What do you mean by "non-traditional" music? FF's always had wide array of different styles, from traditional RPG-styled music, to traditional styles(marches, waltzes), worldly ethnic inspired music(Irish Jigs, African and Middle Eastern heavy beats...), jazz, rock(progressive, rockabilly, metal), pop, techno, even ragtime. That was just with Uematsu. If anything, I hope Shimomura continues with the variety, which SHOULD be the standard, as far as FF is concerned. No style should be dominant, but all FF OSTs should feature a wide assortment in styles. There SHOULD be rock, there SHOULD be pop, there SHOULD be orchestral pieces, as well as jazz and ethnic sounding stuff.

Personally, I don't mind EDM(fits in well, as long as it's not dominant). Lyrics in songs(that aren't the main ballad), no thank you. FFXIII-2 and LR were already doing that. I'd rather focus on JUST music.

Someone needs to summon the GF known as Verendus he should know what's going on, but anyways I'm one of the few positive people that believes it will be at E3 at some capacity.. Back on topic I think summons will be KH like or probably some sort of power up

She's a gorgeous bad-y. I love her already. If she turns out to be another Jihl Nabaat, I'm going go to be flipping tables.

My hype for her full face is gonna be off the charts come E3. And yes, please not be like Jihl.

Great info OP! I'm really excited for this game and have high hopes... I really hope they show more at E3

They will. LR is done, FF14 is done. This is the next one in the spotlight. I would say its much less likely we will see anything significant to do with KH3.

To go off the tangent a little, here's the reasons why I'm so bloody excited for this game.

1) The combat

Kingdom Hearts battle system has a shit ton of potential. In the original KH and KH2, they suffer from difficulty and thus leading player to mash buttons all the way. But if you play at the highest level (Critical) and especially with Level 1 mode, it's become really challenging.

FFXV builds upon KH's battle system with more improvements, and definitely a much deeper battle mechanism as it revolves around several party members in battle (true to Final Fantasy), and each of them has unique skillset and playstyle of their own (like FFVI and FFIX). With Dragon's Dogma style freerun mechanic and factor in elements like pulling aggro, and chaining up team combo, you have one hell of a battle system.

2) Story direction

As I stated earlier in page 1, I like the premise of the story, and what Nomura wanted to do with it. Yes yes, I am aware that his Kingdom Hearts series is not exactly known for good stories, but they are Kingdom Hearts. This is Final Fantasy. It's evident the man wants a totally different kind of story in this game, which was described as darker than a average Final Fantasy. He also wants the plot to be simplistic, which is candy to my ear after the convoluted XIII series.

3) Noctis

He looks kinda emo appearance-wise, but I would bet my money that he's got the potential to be next
Delita
from Final Fantasy Tactics. Seriously, he's already got the setup to become one. A proud, confident, young prince started out as an ordinary renegade transforming into a ruthless, idealistic anti-hero with twisted ambitions and chaotic neutral personality. I would love to see how he turns out.

Capture6.jpg

Noctis and his ill-intended smirk

4) World Map, Towns, Airship and Exploration

Need no explanations. They would finally be back, especially the airship control. The last it appeared was FFIX.

Setting

Yeah really love the contemporary mixed with fantasy setting. The art direction is also great.

Interactivity

There seems to be a lot of interaction in this game, with the environment especially. We can see objects destructible in town areas, and they will extend that to world map as well. We can also ride Magitek Armors from FFVI.

Music
It's Yoko Shimomura. Love her work immensely. I seriously hope she would compose her rendition of Final Fantasy Prologue, Crystal theme and classic victory fanfare for XV.

There are plenty more other reasons I'm anticipating this game, but I'll just leave it at this.

If i remember correctly, he said that it would be hard to have a female in the group. Anyone has an idea why that might be?

Because the writers are lazy?

Someone needs to summon the GF known as Verendus he should know what's going on, but anyways I'm one of the few positive people that believes it will be at E3 at some capacity.. Back on topic I think summons will be KH like or probably some sort of power up

I vaguely recall someone saying Verendus basically said it was coming out this year. I certainly feel as if it should.

Look at all the information that's been collected here. (Nevermind over at Neoseeker.) You couldn't squeeze this much info out of what we know about inFamous: Second Son if you tried, and that game comes out in three weeks.

Only Square could reveal such a crapload of stuff and still have fans going "lol 2017 at best". We should be expecting a release date at E3 and it should be within this year. But given how quiet they've been even I'm skeptical of that now.

You managed to find some very pretty, sunny pictures of Manchester! It's usually much more grim looking in the perpetually grey north. :D

I tend to think when they mention a certain city, they mean the more standout looking locations. When they mentioned that New York City was one of the inspirations for Archades in FFXII, I doubt they meant the overly polluted, grungy side with the rats the size of dogs. LOL!

Though the perpetually grey north could work for "Land of the Mists", if indeed it inspires Niflheim.

SE has never said that those guys will be your only party members. So you can relax, this isn't Final Fantasy: N'Sync. Not once have I even considered the thought that there wouldn't be female party members.

Not to step on your toes, but SquEx hasn't denied that the cast might stay all male. They've had an all female cast with X-2, who's to say they can't do that with this game? When asked if there will be females, Nomura only mentioned they would be in the game. He never outright said we'd get them as party members. I really, really hope you're right, though. I'm definitely still going to be interested in this game if there won't be.

Why are you already typecasting all of the characters anyways?

All? I mentioned maybe two characters lol. I was only assuming Black haired girl would be bad, considering she was on the right side with the Neflhiem people along with Stella and old, gun-wielding guy. My Jihl Nabaat comparison was only meant as a joke. Don't take it so seriously.

Main thing for me is that the characters seem more likeable than in Square's past Final Fantasy games. They look more realistic, grounded, and less silly/annoying. Looks like it could be the best cast since VII, imo.

After FFXIII I really feel like I shouldn't get excited for this game, but god damn it I can't help it! Everything they've shown and said about the game is just so right.

No need to feel on your back foot, you're taking my comment with too much weight. The characters will fall where they fall. I'm sort of expecting her to be good though, based on what we know about the clothing aesthetics of the various kingdoms.

FWIW, the soldiers he is leading don't have the Niflheim insignia. He could be very well be from Solheim or Tenebrae. The soldiers are identical apart from that though.

We know the soldiers likely aren't human too, since they bleed blue blood and seem to explode upon death. It's possible these are mass-produced soldiers for Niflheim and its allies, hence the lack of a Niflheim emblem yet the exact same appearance and uniform. It's also possible that this dude's emblems mean he's from a different organization within Niflheim, though. The straight up lack of any emblem on the soldiers is very puzzling.

Now that this thread has devolved into fantasy and fan fiction, it seems to have run its course. We generally aren't too fond of hype megathreads, anyway.
