FFXVI is shaping up to be the god of war game I always wanted lol

The part where Shiva and Titan were fighting was better than Ragnarok.
Let's be honest. A wet fart is better than Ragnarok.

FFXVI is looking to be the best Final Fantasy game in generations and easily could take DMC5's crown for depth in combat and GoW's crown for bombastic set pieces. Now if only Santa Monica could remove their heads from their arse and realize they are being outdone.

Nah, sorry. Ragnarok was a bad sequel to an amazing rebootquel. I adore 2018. It had wonderful pacing, emotional moments told through animation and not just forced exposition, and actual building of stakes with its gameplay and systems perfectly accentuating the narrative.

Ragnarok was a rushed out title that retconned large portions of its narrative to tie in a story that should have been 3 games into 2. Forcing characters to act out of character and gameplay that fails to evolve with its narrative, if anything it actively worked against it creating Ludo narrative dissonance - something the first game didn't have.

Say whaaaaaaaaaaat?

Quoting my post I just made in the demo thread. Now I’m a little more hype. I need a change of pace from the current western gaming palate.

Just downloaded it. Will give it a go later after watching some RLM.

First time I will be diving into a FF game in well over a decade. Digging the art design and atmosphere/tone from what I seen with this entry.

I havent been excited for a game in a long while as I have been for FFXVI. Got the CE + ultimate soundtrack preordered and all set to go. Demo last night confirmed everything to me that this is what I have been wanting for a very long time.

Even though the intro was mostly a cutscene, it was still far more epic than everything in the last two GOW games combined.

It gave me that feeling I got back in 2010 when I played GOW 3. that insane epic setpiece that the entire mother fucking industry just straight up forgot about as they went on to make INTIMATE dad games and forgot what makes video games FUN.

I dont know if the rest of the game will be like that or if they will be playable, but my goodness I felt like a kid again, jaw on the floor wondering how that was realtime.

I 100% agree with this. I'm also not even a huge FF fan but this is fantastic.

Remember when everyone loved GoT? The story is already that well done. The combat is addictive.

This might be my GotY.

Does it have a sex mini game by chance?
If any Japanese games have any nudity and sex then western media will lose their fucking minds, but with western games that’s okay because double standard.

Heck I remember when Catherine first got released people called it “porn game” even tho the game had zero nudity or sex.

The scale will definitely be there. Some footage we've seen from the Titan fight is definitely taking inspiration from the first Bayonetta game too.

They already said it won't be six months. More than likely will drop when they add DLC sort of like they did with FF7R and XV. It's always a year or more later on PC. I'll be double dipping whenever it does.
Probably 2 years if it does get ported. Since Epic will probably make the wait even longer.

Probably the same case with Rebirth. Although I think Rebirth probably has to happen since Remake is available on PC and they wouldn't want to alienate that userbase.

Look at the CGI visual works have produced since FF7 on PS1 up to FF7 Remake. Some stunning stuff.

It was a master stroke to get them to incorporate their talents into real-time situations. In fact a a throwback to how CGI mixed with gameplay in FF8.

Yeah, thats really a remarkable achievement if you ask me. Remember that scene when clive and the others walk through the mountain in the beginning of the demo and the camera moves seemless onto the battlefield where dozens of soldiers are fighting? I don't think I've seen something like this before. I'm also not sure if it was realtime or cgi but if it was cgi, the transistion between realtime and cgi was perfectly handeled.

Glad to see you agree with me on this

It’s strange. FF16 doesn’t necessarily have insane levels of detail on a microscopic level or the absolute best character models, but the overall presentation comes together and really looks like those epic CG scenes in the earlier games that I always wanted to see in real-time and now they are.

It does have good detail though. Crisp textures. Fantastic lighting and no jaggies in sight. The particle effects are superb.

It’s really impressing me with how epic everything is to play and watch in a way many games have stopped focusing on

Sony needs to buy CBU3 lol

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck yeah its was! Ragnarok section was underwhelming after all that build up.

It felt like Titan fights in AoT and love the fact the debris from the fight was killing foot soldiers left and right.

We don’t know what engine it is. It’s not luminous and doesn’t look like unreal. Might be something new. So I wonder how it will do on pc

I think that was CGI and yes it was an oh shit moment like on PS ONE given the context!

😂 Im actually about to fire up the demo in a few minutes and can’t fookin wait to feel my God Of War excitement again. Im glad to see more people coming to terms of what this game truly is (And how amazing it will be). Im thinking of bumping my original thread to feel something again.

As much as I love God of War Ragnarok (which I believe is a 10/10 game), I agree.

I'd have loved even more interactivity during that scene, but still ... what the fuck!!

Nah, I don't want god of war to be an interactive movie thx. Ffxvi is not for me at all.

The only thing god of war needs now is scale.

Makes me doubt this industry massively.
