FIFA 15 Demo - Did EA Actually Get it Right?

I use ModdingWay for FIFA 14 which is just huge patches which change UI and shit in the game.
It seems like there is quite a split in impressions between PC and PS4 versions. Generally the PC version has (very) good impressions while the PS4 ones are going more towards "more of the same". I guess no Ignite engine last year on PC also has something to do with this.
I tried yesterday to use downsampling (1440p) and it works like a charm. Very smooth.

played the demo both on ps3 and ps4 (i think theyre pretty much the same).
its far better than 14 ofc, but is it me or did the last years pes demo still felt more fluid and dynamic than 15?

It's not the demo that Konami doesn't want cracked, it's the full game. The point that they (and other PC developers) make is that an early demo reduces the time it takes to crack their game after its released, as crackers get to study the code of the game early.

why is my team still so fucking dumb that they can't read an attacking move or double up in defence when they have nobody to mark.
Infuriating making a run with sterling and sturridge just stands there 10 feet away looking at me when he has a channel to run down. Same old shit, wish they made the game feel less like doctors playing sunday football and more like real professionals.

Gameplay is amazing. I've yet to buy a "next-gen" FIFA, and I still won't be buying 15 because the visuals look like a last gen game in 1080p. So happy to see the gameplay has been nailed though, so fingers crossed the visuals get a lot of focus in FIFA 16 and I get what feels like a complete package.
NHL 15 seems to be the opposite: visuals got the focus, with gameplay left in the cold. Seems like core fans definitely prefer FIFA's approach.

For people that want to mess around in 1vs1 training mode, add this to your cl.ini:
The player-models are a bit buggy and there is no way to exit the mode other than ALT+F4. Thus, everytime you want to play a normal match again you have to remove the lines and restart the demo.
I do hope someone finds the LOD settings for the demo, as from what I've seen in training mode the 3D grass really is there during normal gameplay if the camera gets close enough although after a certain distance it get's LOD'ed away

Yes, it's in Semi-Pro. As far as I know you can't change it on the first game, but when starting another one in Kick-Off you can change it at game settings.

Unless PS4 releases a software update that allows for the files to be read then no OF on PS4 for PES.
Konami should have been smarter than this and imitate what NCAA Football to bend the license limitations. Create a solid "Edit Mode" and then add a "Roster/Equipment vault" function inside the game. Even better make it like Golf Club where every created golf course is available in every platform. Create on PC....download on console...
I would imagine having a huge splash screen on the main menu with "Squad Vault - Download the latest created squads from the community" would help towards the mainstream noticing they can also play with Liverpool and not Merseyside Red...

Played 4 games and I think I didn't see any offside, from me at least.
It wasn't. Bhatti specifically pointed out the fact that the PS3 demo was cracked for time as well, but because it required CFW, wasn't as widespread as a PC demo crack.
Was always a problem the engine had. The general fonts aren't the original ones, and the numbers tend to do the same as the names. They stretch with the kit movement. Something that bothered me always and what PES did right all the time.
Btw. my feelings are pretty mixed about the demo. I liked the chants and the overall control, but the AI is still utter shit and the balloney ball physics are still mediocre. I'll wait for the PES demo and decide then. Editing shouldnt be a problem anymore with PS4 fast memory and hard drive.

Looks good, crowds and chants are nice but feels pretty much like fifa14. I've brought fifa every year since 94 but reckon I may pass this year. Not enough of an upgrade for me. Reckon I may rotate between fifa and wwe yearly

I've always noticed it and it's always bothered me. That being said this is the first FIFA I will be buying since 2005. Got a ps4 last night and tried the demo and was quite impressed. If the final version is improved as everyone says, I should be happy with it.
In theory that's the way to go but in reality it's impossible to offer such an edit mode. The leagues (Bundesligas DFL for example) forced Konami to this barebone mode. If Konami offers such options they get sued. The FIFA licencing system is the most draconian if you doesnt have that licence. The only workaround is in fact what happens at PC: a seperate community doing the modding on their own.

From what I've played so far, seems like diagonal long shots like that are pretty overpowered. Scored 2 in my first 2 games!

Having lots of problems with the PS4 version, lag problems as already discussed but also scaling issues?! Even with my TV set to Just Scan it seems that FIFA wants to be bigger than my display, like its doing some weird internal scaling.

But yes, you should be able to easily get games and play seasons, admittedly I don't play that much but we have a pc pro clubs on GAF that is active all year around, while it can at times be hard to find matches when playing late, it's usually not really a problem. I imagine a hell lot more people play regular seasons and UT-

Have you locked it to 60fps? I get stutter when not locked, I get frames as high as 200 but it stutters, it's inconsistent. Locking it makes it smooth.

and I go at this having been to Anfield (Liverpool) lots...
they claim to off spent all this time getting the ground exactly right yet they forget to put the divide that is in situ between the away and home supporters.
Also when I scored with Daniel Sturridge he ran in front of the City supporters and celebrated, that would never happen.
though I did like how Man City player run the ball into the corner in the 90th Min

You control the player after you score so run away from the City supporters if that bothers you.
I presume you know that is not Sturridge...

Yep it runs crazy good. My system hits over 200fps at max (albeit limited) settings at 1080p. (60-90fps at 4K)
And I think those freezes are to do with online checks. I had a few until I locked the game out through my firewall. It can't connect to the EA servers now and hasn't frozen since.
Btw, has anyone else noticed the ways players' ankles animate? Maybe this series has had it before and I'm late to the applause but it's really impressive seeing someone change direction and their ankle actually plant in the ground and flex.

Agree with that general statement for EA Sports but seriously, the footwork (bar some slight visible sliding/skating in slowmo) is really impressive. You have to start somewhere.
If you do nothing but look at the feet (and ball to hand) animations in their NBA game from last year, you will be blown away.
They've got some top notch stuff hidden behind some of their flaws.

Just downloaded on ps4. Is the screen larger than your tv screen for anyone else? Never had this problem on fifa 14 or any other games. But the scoreboard and player icons in the corners are all partially off the screen.
Yeah same here. As far as I can tell there's no option to sort out the screen bounds in the game so hopefully it gets fixed

So a few things, is there no way to set more specific times during games or is that just for Anfield/the demo? Because no dusk would suuuuuck. Also I remember older FIFAs having a slider for auto-switching instead of just auto or manual, is that still in or did they scrap it?
