FIFA 16 Demo Details. Releases on September 8

So should we expect the demo to hit XBO in an hour and fifteen minutes? It is downloading pretty slow on PS4.

It's not all that impressive really, I haven't played Fifa 15 on next gen this year but on my a PC at 5k but it looks way worse (as you can imagine) but more than I would think considering I've been playing 15 at my friends house on a 360.

Gameplay feels worse to me but I think people that really love their Fifa will be happy.

Does it still feel stiff? Reason I enjoy PES it feels so smooth with the animations and natural. I'm waiting on the XB1 demo but I doubt it will be up before bed.

but what about pro clubs?

shh no tears, only FUT now.

Played the beta. Nothing has changed from 15.

Oh wait you get new hairstyles and the menu colour has changed.

Wait, I don't understand. FIFA 16 PS4 demo looks way worse than FIFA 15 on PC?

Feels a lot more fluid IMO, new dribbling animations are ace

Looks brilliant/better than 15 on PS4, couldn't say for PC though

Uh, FIFA 15 was way smoother than PES in that regard. Prefer PES's gameplay because FIFA is too smooth for my taste lol

I can't tell if you are taking the piss but its jaggy as shit, the grass is laughable to be honest. I think it looks worse than Fifa 15 in general. My brother agreed.

I was playing Fifa 15 on my mates 360 yesterday and I'm not saying it looked better necessarily but St least there weren't shimmering edges everywhere.

Still in that annoying phase where professional is too easy for me and world class is too hard/no fun. All they do is pass it around me until I maybe get a chance to actually win the ball around my own box. Finished every match I played on world class difficulty with about 35% possession.

Also anyone got any tips for no touch dribbling? It's l1 and l2 right? What then? I can't take advantage of it at all.

A lot better than FIFA 15 considering there is actually build up play and holding midfielders are actually useful this year. But like some people said, the usual FUT fans will whine and they will patch this to please them.

AI (especially opponent AI) is leaps and bounds better than last year. I was playing Borussia vs Dortmund and did a stupid tackle which ended with Gundogan red card. So Borussia spent the entire 2nd half passing like crazy to try to open spaces on my defense. Never saw a team change their strategy based on a in-game situation like this.

And I actually liked the unpredictable nature of the improved collision system and defense positioning. Ended up giving up a penalty just because of that which would never happen before. Just tried to contain a player, he changes direction, I tried to change too but went right into the path of the attacker. Clear penalty. 100% my fault.

Thoughts after playing the demo:

-After playing the demo for 3 hours and playing more than 600 games(FUT) of Fifa 15 I have to say the demo feels like a massive improvement. Pace and throughball abuse is no longer possible. The game is also slower and build-up play is really important against the CPU. Goalkeepers seem to be improved.

-A lot of people say that defending has been buffed and attacking nerfed, but the real change has been that the AI no longer behaves like headless chickens, so is harder to break up a defense.

-I feel the new driven pass will be abused online by good players, and it will be far easier to punish bad defending with it. Body feints have been severely nerfed, BUT dragbacks and L2+R2 dribbling feels just as OP, or even more OP now since they feel almost exactly like in Fifa 15.

- Big slow strikers with good finishing and powershot will be usable now. I was lucky enough to pull Ibra (which got a pace reduction) on the fut draft. The demo version has the same stats as in 15, and he felt really good. Also used Giroud and he is no longer useless.

- Finesse shots are still good.

- Standing tackles are not as OP anymore, R1 defending( teammate jockeying) feels essential. Can't comment on sliding tackles as I've always been shit at them.

I love the changes, but I feel the Fifa community will be divided, since the game no longer feels as arcadey.

Edit: Yaari, FUT draft is playable. The database of players seem to be small though, and you can only play a game. I'm pretty excited about the mode, specially if the prices are good.

A LOT of people on the fifa forums are praising it

theres a few whiney gits whining about how they cant run past everybody but who cares

Get a team and play 1 game

Ah, okay.

Yeah I first played a similar mode in Madden and its the most fun I've had with sports games in years. So I am super excited.

I do hate the entrance fee of 15k, when it is a free mode to enter in Madden. But hopefully the rewards will be good like they said it was. I'd play it all day if I could... haha.

Rewards do seem good, you basically get your money back (in packs) if you win at least 1 game

I'd rather it was free entry too, but they know people will pay money for fifa points to use them

From what I have seen from streamers that played the full game the prizes even for just playing a game are decent enough (usually 1 or 2 gold packs). Making it to round 2 will probably give you all the coins back. And since tickets to play the draft can be found on packs, hopefully there will be ways to enter the draft winning offline/online tournaments. Fingers crossed.

Ouch thats the stinger - for some reason I thought it was coins as the minimal return. For people who don't want to spend real money its pretty expensive entrance fee, especially at the start of the game.

Played a match as the ladies. They're FUN.

How is it different? Interested to hear what they did there.

Yeah that was sort of what I was getting at. If I enjoy the mode then getting packs in return doesn't allow me to do another run. Which is too bad. Apparently sometimes gold is given as a reward, but even then I'd prefer lesser rewards and just being able to play whenever I want.

The ladies feel looser and more pacey than the men. Almost more arcadey. I'll let someone else try and explain, but they're tons of fun.

Oh, I didn't know this!

Definitely a possibility a few tournaments will have draft tickets as rewards

Someone posted this earlier, is a good summary:

Ok same first impressions I posted in reddit:

Ok guys. I apologize for the late review as I fell asleep lol! Here are my first impressions after playing several games on world class difficulty. I will bullet point these impressions.

-Menus are very bright. You have to turn off the fifa trainer by clicking R3.

-Kickoff games are 4min halfs and FUT draft games are 6min halfs.

-New player instruction for all players: interception type. You can set this to aggressive or conservational. I believe this just affects whether or not players dive in trying to intercept balls.
-The passing has been overhauled massively. Biggest one in the series to date. Passing feels a lot better but is much much harder to pull off. No more no-look aerial through balls from your 76 rated CM. They have made through balls incredibly hard, to the point where you really have to time them to perfection.

-AI defenders are the best yet for a while. They position themselves really well. They block crosses a lot more and are able to deal with aerial through balls a lot better. The new slide tackling is also pretty useful. You can click square twice to cancel your slide tackle halfway through the animation. AI defenders are a lot harder to beat by dribbling around them. I think the standing tackle radius has been increased? I feel AI defenders rob the ball from your feet a lot more!

-Players track back to defensive positions. For example, I finally had a counter attack on! I look up and spread a beautiful through ball to Willian but behold! A wild Raheem Sterling is sprinting alongside Willian and manages to intercept the ball near his own penalty box.

-They still haven't fixed the short corner glitch. Unfortunately this still works from FIFA 15. You can hold L2 to ensure a player is already near you when you start the corner kick animation.

-"Stay back while attacking" still doesn't work. I tried to see what Busequets would do with this instruction but I found him still wandering further forward a lot more, albeit not into the opposition penalty box but just outside it.

-FUT draft is fun! You can't go back and change a player once you make a choice. This makes it very rewarding and risky because you can't go back and change a player once you make a choice. I think the players available in the draft are skewed since the player pool will be much smaller than FIFA 16.

-Controller now vibrates when you bump into other players ingame. Referees are a lot more vigilant! Fouls are very common now. Referee calls fouls over small shoulder bumps. Vanishing Spray!

The main two things people on reddit want to see:

Are goalkeepers fixed?Yes and No. Goalkeepers have been tuned a lot this year and I can see noticeable differences. Goalkeepers are very aggressive dealing with crosses, often rushing out to punch them away. I had a goalkeeper rush out like Petr Cech against West Ham and successfully punch the ball away from a free kick. They also hold onto the ball from shots a lot more and are much more reliable. But still there are niggling issues that persist. Goalkeepers still do not come out and catch easy deflections. They just chase the ball out for a corner. This hasn't been fixed forever. I haven't seen mine do anything too stupid yet.

Are headers OP? Yes, but it definitely isn't FIFA 14 OP. Why? Simple. Crosses are a lot harder to pull off, opposition defenders and goalkeepers routinely clear your crosses with ease, defenders often block your crosses and its all about choosing the right cross. I did notice it was a bit too easy for Eden Hazard to win headers and hopefully EA tune this down a little bit but right now crosses are much harder than 15 so it slightly offsets the op headers. Maybe people will find an exploit?
Do note that this demo version is an old build so will not contain the same gameplay as the final build but I am interested in the direction EA are taking. Much more emphasis on knowing when to pass and whether to touch R1 or not. This makes for a much better gameplay experience as you are not able to simply bypass the opposition midfield with through balls. The passing is probably the best thing about this FIFA.

I've never really messed around with region stuff but am itching to play this. The PSN 'create a new account' link seems to be dead right now. Is this available anywhere on Xbone? And I think the region switching stuff is much easier there, isn't it?

This is the first FIFA game in 7 or 8 years which feels great from the very first game. They slowed it down a lot to finally represent actual football and improved the AI, so your players behave like humans using their brain. No more throughball abuse, no more 'Usain-Bolt-memorial-kick-and-rush'.
I hope they continue this way of building a realistic simulation rather than the arcade stuff they released in the past few years.

EA, you got me interested. Don't mess it up.

Apparently game play has been sped up slightly in the final build

Who said that? Please no.

Played a lot more of the beta now. I thought that it would be an easy choice between PES and FIFA this year, because FIFA 15 wasn't so hot. However, with the inclusion of women's teams and the way the game is playing now...... I'm not so sure it'll be very easy.

Got to say I wasn't impressed by the few games Ive played - it just pales in comparison to the PES 16 demo, though neither are perfect. FIFA demo deffo feels like FIFA of the past for me...

Will try tomorrow, assuming the late night demo might not have caught me in the best of moods
