FIFA 16 Trailer: Women's National Teams are in

about this thread:

yup.

twitter ain't much better.

edit: shit first post on new page, i'll edit so we don't just have a page of shit from dumb teens

This is a massive, massive deal in woman's football and I commend EA on it. I know a few woman footballers who will be overjoyed at the inclusion.

I'm hoping the Canada world cup will feature as a tournament and not just friendlies. Although only 16 teams means it probably wont.

edit: FIFA 16 so obviously it won't... silly me.

I'd rather them focus on other things, face capture from more players, physics, animations, etc.

I don't see myself playing with female teams.

Good For PR though.

That's great news.

Here's hoping they add more national teams and national leagues like the Women's Bundesliga over the next years.

No, you misunderstood, I mean in the gaming industry about women and women protagonists, the same goes with Assassin's Creed recent announcements.
Come on guys don't just jump to my throat just because a male soccer fan (90% of the existing market) does not care for Female football and might like EA to concentrate on something else rather than this. It seems like a political move to me.

I definitely agree with you that it's not a coincidence that this happens because/thanks to the whole gamergate thing. Good thing nonetheless.

By the way, i agree with most people, the graphics look horrible. And the faces, although recognisable, looks like PS360 modelsq

Wonder if the teams will be as strong as the strongest teams in the game (Barcelona FC / Real Madrid etc) or if they will have stats similar to the weakest male teams in the game. Guess I am wondering if the female players will zip around like speedy gonzales or play slow and rugged.

I watch more US women's soccer than US men's. Its not a political move. The US women's team is more famous than the men's. Alex Morgan is a household name. Hope solo was too.
Good luck getting an average american to name anyone on the men's us team, let alone the coach.

I'm talking as in Italian, this is useless. Forgot that in some other countries that is not the case.
Anyways, I'm not changing my mind on why they did it.

You know those women are players, right?

Also good for women's football as a sport.

No need to change your mind. You're saying their intention is to make the game more gender inclusive. That is correct. That is a good thing.
whether or not it's due to some sort of "SJW agenda" being pushed onto them or them simply embracing women's football as a sport doesn't really matter.

There are only 12 teams this year as well.

Wouldn't this year's edition be the last one before Canada's World Cup?

The World Cup is next summer, right?

I just hope new animations extend to beyond celebration animations. Would be an impressive amount of work if so, and would show commitment to adding more in future now the groundwork is laid out.

Wondering if those players end up in Ultimate Team.

90% of the football world don't care about the Belgium second division and yet that's in the game

You have to be weird to actively object to this

I'd bet you won't be able to play Male v Female and their stats will be made in scale to only the female players.

Cool news. Bad timing. "FIFA" is not a good term right now.

I don't know who either of those two players are.

They'll be high-rated. The Classic XI has a bunch of guys higher rated than Messi, even though Messi is better than all of them. Marta and Alex Morgan will be 90+

Could the trailer be from the PS3/360 version?
I have no idea.

It's also a good start with 12 teams. Hopefully they'll have all of the World Cup teams in next year, and then by the years add in the women's leagues as well.

And in-door football, thank you.

I fail to see your issue.

kinda poor they don't have a mixed mode in and that the female teams are pretty limited in terms of what you can do with it

Well that would be stupid, barely anyone would use them then if you cant even play with non-women teams outside of local play maybe.

I wonder if the women footballers will play differently to the men?

contrary to female Assassins (lol), female football players move pretty similarly to their male counterparts. It's a sport.
I don't see why they wouldn't just re-use the MoCap they're using for male players.

I'm not saying that I care about that, I'd have had the same reaction if they told me they added the Icelandic League.
It's useless for the development of FIFA as a game and I'd have preferred that the development team concentrated on something else about gameplay or even better tracking of less known players even in big teams if we're talking about content.
Classic teams, that'd be an important addition, imo.

How do you stat the women players on Fifa? Do you give them a 1-100 scale of their own, or do you throw them onto the mens scale (thus lower for a lot of things)?

So I've read on Twitter that you can't have a male team verse a female team because it's trying to 'keep it real'. Then how on earth does EA explain Real Madrid versus Real Madrid in an online game?

Are people really going to get angry over this?

I don't know. I think male mocap on a woman would be jarring. They are performing the same actions but women move differently than men.
