Couple of questions from someone who's never played these (outside of the occasional demo or match at a friend's house) so hopefully you'll indulge me!

Is this game worth picking up for a casual? I had a quick go on the demo, and playing through the Journey mode, and I've played the odd match with friends, but I don't think I'd be doing much in the way of team management or building an online team etc, as that sort of thing doesn't really interest me. Am I going to get enough out of this to make it worth picking up now as opposed to getting it for something like £5 when the next one comes out? What benefits are there for playing during the current season if you're not going to be spending FIFA points or whatever it is people are always being hacked for? Is it like doing Fantasy Football except you actually play the games as well? As an absolute beginner I'm not going to be playing online a lot.

I'd try Fifa 16 first; if you have EA Access/Vault it's free.

Yeah, it's only 1 season, but this lasts about 15 hours or so assuming you do every training drill and every match.
 
i'm hooked on this SBC feature ... madeen really needs a mobile app for UT.

i'm just over half way throuygh the MLS one and starting to wonder how many coins i've spent ... :/

giovinco is awesome but not sure it'll be worth it in the end ..will see

I haven't used him myself (since I use a La Liga squad), but as far as I've seen, he's awesome and plays like most small strikers. You need to know how to shield the ball and don't be afraid to pass it back if you're not the counter-attack kind of player.
 
yeh i used him alot on last years UT def good, and as a ST here i can move him to CAM ... wish these SBC players had special chem mods like in madden so they have that something extra to justify the time and effort. i'm sure there are ITL CAM's i can match him with for my italian leauge squad though.

but yep SBC is a great addition ..the flip side is you see brz and silvers sometimes going for 8 grand on the transfer market for some of these teams .. :/ .. i just hope i dn't get to my last squad and find some ultra rare brz CB is at some insane cost to complete this MLS sbc ... because that would really suck...

Would it not have been easier to just buy the IF Giovinco card? The stat difference is negligible and I can attest that it's an excellent card - he bags a fuckton for me.
 
So I have finally started FUT this year but does the phone app even work for anyone? I just get a white screen after I log in

I'd like to do the SBCs while I'm bored at work or something.

Also I feel dirty as a United fan saying this but Firmino is the fucking truth in FUT. I'd love to grab an inform of him.

Try logging into the web app. IIRC if you havent played FUT previously you will have to wait for a while to verify your account. Once its done you should be able to access it.
 
well thats the thing i setup FUT when the game came out. and im on the web app as well.

and the phone app did work for about 2 months. but then it just stopped. now even uninstall/reinstall made it work.
 
Not liking the new way the penalties are setup in this game, in the sense that soon as you point somewhere the player starts to run automatically why change it?

I know. There was nothing wrong with penalty taking before and I got kinda good at it. Hating the new way.
 
Can EA be held responsible for the ongoing speed lag issues on drop in matches ?
It's been unplayable for over 2 weeks, it hasn't even been addressed let alone fixed. You pay for the game and can't even play it and they aren't even talking about it.

If this was their cash cow FUT it would've been addressed in a day. This really upsets me because it's been an ongoing issue. They always ignore every other game mode that isn't FUT.

How come we never have any discussion in these FIFA OTs? It's like that every year. For example, I don't have anyone to play friendly matched against online and would like to add some players on PSN. But I don't play UT alot anymore.

I guess GAF isn't the best FIFA audience. I feel like most of the discussion occurs on the FIFA subreddit.
 
Has any of you tried to buy coins recently?

I know EA likes to say they're banning users who do, but the reality of the game/community seems to be rather different.

And with TOTS already under way I guess things will only get worse.

That said, I wouldn't mind buying a bit of coins to have fun trying some players.
