2022 FIFA World Cup™

Round 1: Australia 1 vote, Japan 3 votes, Korea Republic 4 votes, Qatar 11 votes, USA 3 votes (Australia eliminated)

Round 2: Japan 2 votes, Korea Republic 5 votes, Qatar 10 votes and USA 5 votes (Japan eliminated)

Round 3: Korea Republic 5 votes, Qatar 11 votes, USA 6 votes (Korea Republic eliminated)

Round 4: Qatar 14 votes and USA 8 votes (Qatar obtained an absolute majority)

Well, where do you start with that. :lol

FIFA is one of the most corrupt organisations on the planet but even I didn't think they would be that brazen about it.

I can kind of get on board with the Russia choice but Qatar?!? Those ExCo members must have made so much money out of this it's unreal.

The Qatar plan is for solar power stations to be built next to each of their as yet non-existent stadiums in order to generate a massive bubble of cool air around the stadium. This is what FIFA have chosen for the world cup. Unbelievable.

At least the gloves are off now and we can have some proper investigative journalism into them. A rather shameful episode having our Prime Minister meet with people who if their was any justice would be in prison for widespread and endemic corruption.

How do FIFA delegates switch voting allegiance, when the country they voted for in the previous round is still in??

I hope Israel makes the 2022 cup. Then we can see just how civilized Qatar really is.
There'll be peace between Israel, Palestine and the Arab Nations by then.

:lol @ Israel being the civil ones.
And that, my friends, is the Arab-Israeli relationship in a nutshell.

":lol at the idea that WE should change... THEY'RE the ones who caused everything!"

Palestine have 7 years to create a team. Id love to see them qualify.

Thats profound and all - but this wasn't what i was implying.

Qatar's 4 biggest cities (est 2010 population): Doha (998,651), Al-Rayyan (444,557), Al-Khor (31,547), Al-Wakrah (31,441)

So a World Cup game taking place would make the stadium the game is in the 3rd largest city in the country.

Doha is the only city that meets the FIFA minimum required population for hosting a WC game.

Amazing. A serious organization would have laughed off the Qatar bid.

So two people who voted for Netherlands/Belgium in round one, switched allegiances to Russia in round two even though Neth/Bel were still involved. I don't really understand that.
1657: Full results of 2018 voting:

Round 1: England 2 votes, Netherlands/Belgium 4 votes, Spain/Portugal 7 votes and Russia 9 votes.

LOL REALLY??
FIFA SERIOUSLY??

One would assume that the nations vote for their favourite in round one, realise in round two that they will not win and change their votes to support Russia, whom they would see win over Spain/Portugal. not too hard

I blame the kangaroo for australia's failure.
Yeah, the kangaroo was creepy as fuck. That entire bid seemed to be a failure from what I watched and I'm not really surprised that it was booted out after the first round.

I'd blame the lack of any influence in the AFC.
That too. Certain AFC officials have stated in the past that they'd support a Qatar bid of sorts.

Sepp Blatter thinks we are the 'motherland of football' but tells the FIFA delegates to beware our media in a pre-vote briefing.
Vladimir Putin now flying to Zurich to thank Sepp Blatter in person and return his daughter to him safe and unharmed.
BREAKING NEWS:HUGE earthquake reported in Zurich......Nevermind Blatter dropped his wallet
Even Prince William, David Cameron & David Beckham can’t take on Sepp Blatter – the most corrupt powerful gangster around.
well, you've got to hand it to Sepp Blatter (probably in a brown envelope, on a park bench & using a codeword about the weather in Moscow)
:lol :lol :lol

Twitter trending is hilarious

In a way I'm glad we didn't get it. It was embarrassing the way we were prostrating ourselves before these corrupt bastards. This way we will get huge coverage of FIFA's corruption in the British media, plus some new countries get to host the World Cup, which is a great thing, whatever their faults in comparison to the English bid.

England should apply for a world cup together with Scotland and maybe Wales next time. There would be a higher chance for it to happen on that island. It just seems so anachronistic and counterproductive that England always wants to do his own thing when it comes to football.

It's like as if Prussia would plan to host a world cup in northern Germany. It is a bit silly and the rest of the world notices it.

I want to go to Russia for the world cup. Never been, heard its brutal in some parts but it could be amazing. I'll be done with school for a few years by then so maybe I'll have money. Why are people so astonished by Qatar? FIFA is clearly about getting the World Cup to parts of the world which have never hosted before. Which both my parents (avid futball fans) as immigrants are happy about. My dad is huuuge fan, been to a few, and is always complaining about the Euro hold on the World Cup (hosting wise).

Taking it to Africa was important in order to generate revenue for SA, but also for FIFA to acknowledge the up and coming abilities of many African nations. I was at that one, great atmosphere and they gave us the VUVUZELAS! Russia has never had it and it could boost their economy by alot.

Qatar makes sense since its never been in the Middle East. I think any middle eastern country who applied that wasn't involved in some kind of social disruption could have had an edge over everyone else. The only problem with Qatar is how are they going to fill those seats. I know people from surrounding countries will pour in, but then whats FIFA gonna do about any non-hijab wearing women or selling booze which is generally looked down upon by the 30-40% of hardcore muslims in the region as a whole. Makes sense at face value, but logistically it kind of skews sideways.

Press Freedom Index:

Netherlands (3)/Belgium (14)
Japan (12)
Australia (18)
England (19 as part of UK)
USA (20)
Spain (39)/Portugal (40)
South Korea (42)
Qatar (120)
Russia (140)

.

Never going to happen, the FA won't want to give up its individual vote. Also the other nations wouldn't be interested (see the "UK" olympics football team)

who cares about the press

it's all about the infrastructure, stadiums, life after the matches (food, girls, party)

Too much of a good idea. I can imagine UEFA having a hissy-fit because it would mean that Scotland, Wales and England get a free pass.

Women and alcohol is not a problem - at all. It'll be easy to ease/allow that - its expected behavior from foreigners. My only concern is safety, but its 12yrs from now so im not expecting threat of terrorism to be like it is today.

My thing is, if FIFA wants to take the WC to parts of the world that have never hosted, then what is the point of this whole application process? Does that mean US/England/Japan, Spain, etc. just go ahead and throw in the towel for here on out? Might has well just point to a place on the map and ask if that country is up for it.

This isn't aimed at you directly, I'm just sick of political bullcrap sometimes in these type of processes.

Kinda wanted England to get it coz if Ireland qualified we would have filled Wembley easily for all group games. But England have a huge list of major sporting events taking place over the coming years:

Olympics
Rugby WC
Cricket WC
Commenwealth Games(Glasgow but still)

Anyway, what are the US's chances of hosting the WC post 2022?

2026? 2030? 20xx?
