In fact I think Nintendo does have some type of marketing thing(not like bundles or anything) that they can show the game in a commercial which should help.Switch is not going to suddenly stop selling.

this cracks me up. The game comes out in 3.5 months. I think it's safe to say the user base will have significantly increased by then. There are what 4 million Switches out there now? That's a 25% attach rate. Hmmm, no that seems very very unlikely too me seeing that the switch public is not really an EA crowd.
The other options sound really good. This might be on the to het list for me. Hoping PES makes it over aswell.
Yes the people on GAF how are buying two copies of the same game are telling for general sales.... what I meant is that people who are in to EA games will have a place where they play those games. Sure there will be people who buy two copies (PS4/Switch) but for those there also be people choosing either one platform (where do you want to play FUT?). Next to that there is a whole lot or switchowners who simply are not interested in FIFA. So yes, I'd be surprised if it gets to one million. But hey, it would only be better for next years edition if it did.

I think FIFA on Switch is very capable of selling a million copies
Legit curious: would EA consider that a success? FIFA is the top selling franchise in the world. Would one million be enough to convince EA to bring more games to Switch?

I think with the install base, they should be jumping up and down if they sell 1 million copies of the game. A third party sports game on a system with an install base of probably less than 8 million, that's flat out insanity.
In Europe, that game could very well become the go-to game to purchase for new Switch owners, so I expect FIFA 18 on Switch to have very impressive legs. That's part of the reason why I expect Switch to punch quite hard compared to its install base, also since it adds something that XB1 couldn't over the PS4 version.I think that this game will have very long legs and that will sell a lot via word of mouth once the switch starts increasing its presence in the market which will inevitably happen once Nintendo sorts out the shortages before the holidays.
I bet many casual players that only play fifa will find worth investing in the switch to be able to play while on trips etc.
This will only happen with a good marketing push too, of course.
I'd bet 1 million sold after the holidays.
FIFA on Switch could turn into an evergreen title. No competition there and when people get a Switch and want to play football, they gotta get FIFA. Sprinkle in some real-life football stars sharing them playing FIFA on Switch and bam, this should do very well.
Defence force? Naw, I just think it's a silly way to analyze the possibility. If you don't think it'll hit 1 million, that's completely fine.Oh man, is this some defense force comming out? Even if this gets a 10% attach rate on 10 million I'd be supervised.
Pleasantly so to say.
It seems EA doesn't have any Docked demo units at E3? That's a bit unfortunate. No direct feed video...
Considering the current demographics as released by Nintendo most of the NS owners currently are males between 18-25. So the odds of that group aligning with the FIFA audience is pretty good. On top of that there are a lot of lapsed gamers out there who may take another look at a FIFA game when presented with the option of playing the full game on the go. We'll see how it goes, but the potential for this game being a breakout hit is there.
It is.
The consoles have around 3x the cpu power available.
They would if their CPU architectures were the same, which they are not. A57s are more efficient than Jaguars, here on GAF it was shown how an A57 core at 1GHZ performs similarly to a Jaguar core at 1.6 GHZ. Now, PS4 and Xbox One have more cores, but Switch will be running the games at lower settings which will lower the load on the CPU. This is before the fact that X1 is a newer SoC, that can probably offload more tasks such as sound into co-processors.

Boom! There it is! The Switch *can* do Frostbite! Huge news. Now throw us Battlefront 2, Battlefield 1 or Need For Speed Payback!!
I'm not a soccer fan in the slightest, but that looks pretty darn good. Better than I was expecting.
Nintendo Switch...

Share the joy.
Missing The Journey is a deal breaker. Fucking EA.
I mean I agree, the game looks fine so the discussion should be done. But I doubt that's the full answer, just the PR answer. For the amount of time they had, it probably would cause problems to port the frostbite engine over and wouldn't be nearly as optimized due to time or cost.I think it's about time some of you guys put down the "why no frostbite on Switch" issue to rest and get over it.
EA is doing what they thought is best for them and the game.
Frostbite would not have been able to run in 1080P in docked mode, unless they scaled it down so much, and then you would have complained about "LAZY!!!11ONE! RAAH! DEVS!". Now they even made a custom engine, to run in a high resolution when docked, and give the Switch something comparable, putting in far more dev time then just porting it to Frostbite and scaling down all features and effects until it ran at 30fps or even just 20fps.
There just is no pleasing some people. What do you want? That they put in more manhours than they give the PS4 platform that has like 60 million potential customers? vs 5 million (if that!) at the Switch? They need to do a cost vs profit analysis here too you know. If you want more EA on switch, make sure you buy this one. If you don't.. then don't whine that they didn't try.
For those of you aren't spanish speakers, all of those comments are quite positive.
Oh, in that case please ignore!Think he meant the YouTube comments.
The interview is basically the one Eurogamer did. Also, the interview is in English.
I love it, looks like my FIFA.
Think he meant the YouTube comments.
This is probably going to do pretty well in europe.
Imagine playing a game of Fifa in your pub with your mates.
This might actually look pretty good when docked :O
Edit: Eurogamer impressions/interview with Switch Producer
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...intendo-switch-is-the-best-portable-fifa-ever
Eurogamer impressions:
- Says game plays well & is at least as responsive as Fifa 17
- Doesn't look as good as PS4 Pro version (shocking news!)
- Says single Joycon mode is fiddly but does an okay job.
Eurogamer interview with the Producer of the Switch version:
- Completely custom engine for Switch, not Frostbite, not Ignite
- 3D crowds, grass, new lighting
- Fifa Ultimate Team Icons are in
- Everything in FUT works "almost exactly the same as other platforms", but no Champions.
- Can buy packs, manage your team anywhere you can connect to wifi
- No "new animation every frame" (new in Frostbite versions of FIFA 18), retains old "new animation every step" from FIFA 17
- 60 FPS
- No atmosphere effects/celebrating in the crowd since that's Frostbite
- New overhauled crossing is in the Switch version
- New hard tackle is in
- The new quick subbing isn't in yet, but the producer says he's "adding it to the list"
- No Journey since it's powered by Frostbite
- The producer says they could get Frostbite on the Switch, but they thought a custom engine would be a better experience
- Doesn't close the door on feature parity with the console versions in the future. Need to see where the platform goes from here
My roommate's only games are fifa, and even though I have a passing interest in the game and know a few teams, Fifa(and pes) gave me a better understanding and overall more enjoyment of nohandball. That does look good.
Wish I knew anything about the sport so I could pick it up.
