Nu Image/Millennium Films greenlights pic
By DAVE MCNARY

John Rambo's officially readying for a fifth mission.

Nu Image/Millennium Films has greenlit the franchise's fifth installment, with Sylvester Stallone starring and directing, repeating his duties from 2008's "Rambo."

The upcoming project's storyline revolves around Rambo fighting his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border. Production will start in the spring.

The film will be produced by Avi Lerner, Kevin King Templeton and John Thompson. Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Boaz Davidson will exec produce.

Stallone had indicated in interviews that a fifth Rambo was in the works. He teamed with Nu Image/Millennium on the 2008 project, which grossed $42 million domestically and $113 million overseas.

Nu Image/Millennium is in post-production on "Expendables," starring Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Mickey Rourke. The actioner's set for release on April 23 through Lionsgate.

Rambo first appeared in the 1982 pic "First Blood," followed in 1985 by "First Blood II" and in 1988 by "Rambo III."

Hell yeah! I loved the hell out of the last one. I hope this one will have a similar excessively gory nature.

Really glad to hear its been greenlit. He was gungho on doing another one after how the last was recieved.

Really curious how this one will go since the last ended with him finally returning home after all those years.

Crazy as hell to see it did better overseas then in the States,

Fuck yeah! So early 2011?

Also, where the hell is my Rambo Director's Cut? I've been holding off buying the blu-ray for this!

GAF fails if the Bad Boys 3 thread generates more posts this a new fucking Rambo film.

Too many American males have had their balls cut off so cannot appreciate a good 80s style action movie.

The 4th was ridiculous, whatever plot there was it's totally a blur to me now. I only remember some christian missionaries talking to him and he just decided to kill every poor fucker on the island.:lol

Bad Boys 2 ain't exactly the poster boy for safer friendlier PG-13 action films you know. It's one of the most brutal big budget violent action films in the last decade, a summer film no less.

Keyword, one of.

Rambo itself was more excessive than the older Rambo films.

Think about all the types of action films, especially big budget ones that try to even go hard R rated. Bad Boys 2 isn't even questioned on that front, they shot the shit out of everyone and if they didn't, they run them over and blew them up.

They shot the final guy in the head and then had him blown up on top of a landmine. lol

There was nothing brutal about Bad Boys 2? Anyway Rambo was insane, the 20 Minute 50 Cal blood orgy alone is worth the price of admission

Hell yeah, Rambo was fucking awesome. Felt like an older 80's action flick with all that gore and whatnot.

Hope this is rated R again and not some watered down PG-13 flick that is all too common these days.

Yay, can't wait. Also...what ever happened to that Rambo director's cut anyway?

That is a very good question, I hope that some how School Boy is in this one as well, he was an awesome character.

Which plot is the true one, as opposed to the Op plot he linked too, i heard it may be about slave traders taking Rambo's daughter? and him getting her back. seems to much like Taken too me, but who knows

Theres seems to be 2 scenarios. An Unknown daughter of his who is kidnapped or someone elses like Trautmans

fuck yes day 1.

it better stay a hard R rating though. with the expendables possibly getting the pg-13 kick in the balls something has to keep the 80's action vibe alive.

Whoa. Whoa. WHAT THE FUCK!!?

Where did you hear this? How can they possibly do this? The whole POINT of the movie was to be kick ass "R" rating 80's style action flick.

First Blood is a classic, and I would say Rambo IV is a modern classic, too, in some ways.

The others are pretty bad.

Then again, I saw Commando last night.

Rambo IV was the most satisfying cinema experience I've ever had. I had smile the whole film and just absolutely loved it. Can't wait for the next one :D

This, a million times this.

Rambo was one of the best action movies I've seen, period. Give us more.

I want more bloody squib gunshots and less CG blood, though.

just search it in google. the movie will be test screened in both R and pg-13 varients. if the pg-13 screens well then that's what we'll get in theaters.

yeah but considering the cast if people arent exploding into mists of blood when being shot whats the point...

I hope they change their mind on this course of action. A negative vibe like that could seriously impact this movie's success if people become aware of it before going to see it at the theater. I also want to see Rambo educate more of them hippies about what goes on in the battlefield.:lol
