Fighting Games Weekly | Feb 24 - Mar 2 | Play Seriously

Thanks for the advice so far.

I know I'm supposed to do the faultless defense cancel drill thing, but hadn't realized I needed to plink the inputs. Is it a really fast plink or is it slower/timing-based (like plinked magnetic blasts)?

By full screen scalpel stab, do you mean the hcf.K move? I read most of Faust's accent core wiki- is it the same in Xrd where the move is used as a frame trap from long range pokes? What's 2S for- just a good poke? I didn't use any of his rug teleport moves really- they seemed unsafe/gimmicky- I guess you need to roman cancel them to get real use out of them or something? Maybe you can use them to punish predictable zoning?

I was having some trouble anti-airing with 6A because I was getting crossed-up (by a Chipp player). In that situation I guess I should be using a different anti-air?

I had no idea what I was doing when I was playing the other day. I did jump H a hell of a lot and cancelled into that spinny move on hit. I would try to poke on the ground with 5S and cancel into item toss and just went for basic combos into pogo -> spinny from pogo. I didn't know what to do when getting rushed down by Chipp/Sol though. Should I look to alpha counter or something?

I'm not a Faust player myself really so I can only give so much advice :lol But check out the dustloop forum stuff and I'll try to dig up some early good faust play later tonight for ya

That is very sad to hear.

I know you, Spooks, and NextLevel do the best you can with the limited resources available.

If MS were smart they would hook up a few Xbox One setups & sticks for NextLevel simple marketing we are looking at 5,000+++ viewers tuning in every week so what better what to show off a game such as KI.

i dont expect free handouts from any company, never have never will

I wonder if Cen would do it if it meant they had to stream KI for a certain number of weeks.

I've been looking at accent core Faust info to get some idea of what to do with the character in general, and I've been messing around with a copy of reload at home to get a basic feel for how GG plays (I hadn't played GG for more than maybe an hour total in my life before Xrd came out!). I think I've kind of gotten of as far as I can get with those resources though- I need to play and watch Xrd match footage as much as possible. I appreciate you digging up stuff for me!

Yeah I know.

Still it would be good marketing on MS behalf. Looking at stream number right now it's at 6,700 that is a lot of eyes.

Anyway, look forward to the old school stream this week should be good fun like always.

as faust you should not be getting rushed down by sol. watch some videos to get a feel for how you should be approaching (or not approaching) certain chars

It's not really worth the effort from MS' point of view. Would you rather devote resources for a genre with a small following on a stream with 5000 viewers or something like a Titanfall ad during primetime which has millions of viewers? You'd want to spend the money and man hours on something that would actually have an impact.

That's not even close to being comparable though. For the money to produce and broadcast a TV spot (especially in prime time) and people involved, they could go in and support a multitude of grassroots community events/players/teams/etc.. The one real issue would be the opportunity cost with regards to the marketing team at Microsoft.

I've played the game for like 2 hours total- cut me some slack :P

Anti-airing in GG seems hard because everyone has options to change their air trajectory to bait out anti-air whiffs and such. That and if I go for a poke as Faust and it whiffs it feels like there's a half second of recovery so they get in for free. I think I just have no sense of spacing at all, haha.

I have Wednesday nights off, I'd be more than happy to do it.

Spookys stream is not mine so I don't know why people are asking me anyway. And my moderation is completely different from his. Everyone knows in my chat usually people say anything and everything in there.

Don't forget you also have 5K as an anti air tool. It works better from further away

if these streamers want these sponsorships then they have to go and chase them down. you can't expect sponsors to come knocking on your door when many don't know you exist. go to them and sell them what you have to offer.

I'm getting caught up on ESGN FIGHT NIGHT and I gotta say, they really stepped their production up this season. I like the player talks sections and the goofy promos with the crown and cape are all pretty fun to watch.

I'm not asking you specifically. I'm just responding to your claim that nobody would be willing to do it.

Any idea what I should anti-air with if somebody is right on top of my head? 6P seems sketch since if I've been crossed up, it won't come out... (unless I should be doing it preemptively enough that the cross up wouldn't matter)

But Microsoft is capable of producing that TV spot. When you're as big as they are, there isn't enough incentive to resort to an alternative, inefficient method. Let's assume their budget for a TV ad and supporting grassroots communities were the same. It could be as little or as high as you want it to be. I think the market penetration for the TV ad would be much greater than what you would get from the grassroots community. The costs and logistics involved in handling events, players, or teams from multiple areas would also be a problem.

IMO, if we want to develop better partnerships with the bigger companies. It would be wise to just put ourselves out there and meet new people. Attending events or conferences would be a great opportunity to network with more influential people. Relying on the same people/companies will only get us so far. The more prominent figures in the FGC have already done this. I've seen Jebailey establish partnerships with a few energy drink companies and last I saw, he was working with a local Microsoft store.

I love watching ae, especially high level stuff. Watching Landon take apart people with guile is fun to watch.

Some of the vortex stuff can get boring though especially akuma. I guess the characters that get my enjoyment levels down, if they do, are akuma and Rufus.

Seriously, how? More boring than Cammy's autopilot one way train of win?

Dang, BlazBlue can't even get main stream action even though it has the 3rd most players and Aksys is sponsoring it.

Oh god, just noticed that VF5FS top 8 is the first not-smash game on Stream 2 after 7 straight hours of smash.

Give it to us straight man...do you have a chance at top 8?

And will u be repping gaf?

I placed 9th at NYG8 and have practiced every Saturday in 4-6 hour long sparring sets with someone better than me in the 6 months between then and now.
