Triforce said there'd be people like you.My issues with this whole EMP/VxG business are:
1. EMP is a joke. It doesn't matter if they sign Yipes, Dieminion, Justin, Daigo, and build an actual fucking castle because EMP will still be a joke. Triforce has ruined his reputation beyond repair. Maybe I'd feel differently if Triforce had taken the past few years to de-crazy himself because I think he does have good intentions at heart.
There's also the issue of having Triforce not just be a crazy dude who rants and raves on Joe's stream, but also being someone who's once again front-and-center in the FGC. I don't think it's a good thing that Triforce is in a position to represent the FGC to that extent.
I will say that I respect Triforce to a certain extent because he has a dream and he'll chase it even if it kills him.
2. VxG has been actively aggressive towards Evo. Doesn't matter to me if he could only do VxG in July or whatever, or that some people have some legitimate gripes with the way Evo has done things, you don't try to fuck with Evo. And you especially don't fuck with Evo if you're someone who has come out of nowhere and haven't earned trust.
This makes me think that they either don't know what the fuck they're doing, or they don't care. Same thing with getting Triforce so involved in things. They either don't care, or knew what kind of response EMP's involvement would illicit and are exploiting that on purpose.
3. Nothing tells me that VxG has the community's best intentions at heart. Something like an outsider coming in out of nowhere and throwing a bunch of money around has the potential to be very disruptive in a bad way. There are like a million little problems that this sort of thing can cause. It's apparent that they give a shit about making money for St Maarten, but it's not apparent that they give a shit about the community otherwise.
I don't blame Yipes and Dieminion and whoever else for following the money because I'd do the same exact thing. It's just disappointing that if they were gonna get paid, it had to happen under these circumstances.
The best thing about it is that Aqua is fully capable and intelligent enough to play a high-level footsie game, but he'd rather try and get an U2 at least once before winning the round."I don't want to play footsies, it's boring"
Aqua just concerned with bringing the hype.
Slinging mud at the most beloved event in a community that is integral to it's grown over the past decade plus is a red flag no matter what way you look at it, THAT is bad for scene growth. And also, they held VxG last year. You lost me at "you don't try to fuck with EVO." Thinking like that is bad for scene growth. I hope VxG can be something that competes with EVO so it makes them step up their game.
Just looking at the default payouts without the pot, they look to be higher than EVO before 2012. That's pretty astounding for a contender that hasn't even had a tournament yet.
Keep going at it Koogy. I'll be supporting BT.a summary of events from my perspective.
dieminion: gave me zero warning he was leaving. i found out from anonymous third parties. he only sent me a text saying "we need to talk tonight" on sunday. his phone died, eventhubs posted article, ta-da. after the fact i heard that dieminion wasn't happy I didn't send him to canada cup, which would have been a $600+ ticket, and generally found out he was unhappy with our agreement after the fact. being a small sponsor, i can't afford nonstop international travel. i wasn't exactly happy with him leading up to winter brawl, and was going to discuss dropping him from the team on the same day he left anyway.
yipes: told me immediately when he was offered the position of VxG. was extremely upset and really, really didn't know what to do. i reassured him that it's all good with me, because i only want the best for him. he helped me make bt what it is today, and i can never thank him enough for it. i have told him every step of the way through this process that i want him to go through with it, because there's a lot more than just "loyalty". yipes wants to help rebuild the EC and he feels this is one of the ways to do it.
so in short, dieminion could have handled the situation better but it's not really that big of a deal and yipes is dope and you should continue to support both of them.
i appreciate the support i get from you guys, and i just want you to realize there's not a whole lot to the situation beyond that. money is involved, and that's fine. if vxg explodes next year, who cares. the scene will go on
Thanks for explaining all that.a summary of events from my perspective.

Rebuilding the east coast through EMP? shit. is this the return of the dark ages?

Sucks about Dieminion =\ But good shit Koogy. You've been doing great stuff for the community, and supporting Yipes, while probably tough, is good. Just from what I can tell from this, you're a real stand-up guy, Koogy. I really hope you keep up with BT, I love your shirt designs, and everyone's loved what you've helped to do for the community, from Viscant's posts to your involvement on The Fray-- I know the episodes I've liked the most are the ones you've been on to spit some knowledge on sponsorships.
I'm sure you don't need me (or anyone else, for that matter) to tell you this, but just keep on keeping on, and do what you need to do, everyone on GAF will be supporting you no matter what.
Sponsor a GAF member.
I'd like to know how sponsorships work in general. How much do you get from them vs. how much do they get from you? Do you know what EMP is offering that's so amazing Yipes took it?if you guys want to ask more questions about the team / bt / whatever i'll answer them while i drink this delicious bourbon and coke mixture

Koogy, I think it's about time you sponsored a GAF member.
What's this Master League Min is talking about? I heard Sagat mirrors and got all warm and fuzzy inside.
my only complaint about EMP is triforce's over the top manner of delivery. i just want him to take things a little less serious and a bit more professionally. i want nothing more than the EC to become stronger and more focused, and i have a lot of faith. if this is the catalyst it needs, let's wish it the best luck.
