Is there confirmation that Horner was the pilot?

I enjoyed his work on Braveheart, Titanic, and Aliens :( the movies of my childhood...

Out of nowhere. Fuck. One of the most talented composers ever, and taken in such a tragic way. RIP.

(Yes, I'm presuming it's Horner; nothing says otherwise.)

Damnit, too soon :(

I remember loving his Willow soundtrack as a kid. The catch was by the time I got around to discovering it, it was OOP and nowhere to be found. For whatever reason and completely by surprise, a good friend's father was at Virgin Records in Hollywood and special ordered the CD for me, importing it from the UK. Not a big deal these days, but a massive deal (particularly to me) back in the day. Still one of my favorites of all time.

I'm deeply saddened by this... I remember how horrified I was when Harrison Ford crashed and there were so many conflicting reports on his medical condition... I've always dreamed of getting my pilot's license and learning to fly, but these stories always scare me away from the idea.

This is making me really sad. I have never been broken up over a famous person dying before, but James Horner is the first composer I knew by name. One of my teachers showed the movie Glory to us in grade school, and i remember thinking the movie was really cool, but the music really stirred me and stuck out in my mind.

The first CD i ever owned was the soundtrack to that film, and it was the first music of any kind i ever bought with my own money. Music is a big part of my life, and always will be. I am a total soundtrack geek, and i even write some stuff myself.

I am seriously crying listening to all his music you guys are posting now.

I can't find a single mention of that anywhere. If true, I am curious to know more.

Mann went apeshit making sure Mohicans matched his vision. Most crew heads were fired or quit as he got more and more demanding. Definitely not sure if Horner was ever officially hired to score but him being brought up in searches could lead to the possibility. Movie's actually pretty infamous for being a hell to work on.

Or the searches are wrong. That's a more likely reason.

I didn't know of the man, but I liked his good work. Regardless, that's sad news.

May he Rest in Peace. My condolences go out to those who knew and loved him.
