gdt5016 said:Well, he is the main guy in Lost. Even Solo would tell you that.
In Speed Racer, he was supporting.
I'm not sure I'd constitute that as a cult film if only on the grounds that not only hasn't it gotten an official release yet, but everyone who has seen it knows that it is the most amazing thing ever.Count Dookkake said:

in what way? not even 10 years from now?gdt5016 said:Lol, Kill Bill is far from a cult movie.
gdt5016 said:Thats ridiculous.
It's an ensemble show, but Jack is the lead.

Snowman Prophet of Doom said:A cult movie is something that gets a collective 'meh' when it comes out but gradually gains in popularity as the years pass. Blade Runner is the classic example.
Kill Bill, on the other hand, was really popular when it came out (well, as popular as a violent R-rated movie could be) and remains popular to this day. The 'cult' status doesn't really apply to it.
PantherLotus said:A cult following suggests to me two things:
1. It's a cult because the film spoke to some element of society that is otherwise underserved.
2. The film probably wasn't that good, but had some unique presentation or soon-to-be-famous actor that "sells out."
Jesus Christ dude, your superiority complex is unreal. At least half the posts I see of yours have this sneering condescension.PantherLotus said:Only one post after mine, it meets all of my requirements. Well done.
Siebzehn50 said:Well it doesn't have to get a "meh" from critics it just has to be generally unpopular or overlooked by mainstream audiences.

You win...good day sir (love this movie so damn much, top 5 for sure)Nyrad said:
I don't wholly remember how they portrayed him, but they probably wanted to turn him into some kind of insane prophet who was so far eroded that he barely even looked human. But one can argue that it doesn't really work. In fact, normally I would agree that it's not appropriate to turn a movie like this into a "slasher" and that something more original can be done, but I really love the symbolism and the themes and think that they really elevate the film rather than destroy it.InnerFu said:I agree with you to a certain extent. The presence of the captain was absolutely needed to complete the film....but did they really need to make him some mutant zombie looking dude? The first 2/3 of the movie had me hooked....i was buying everything they were feeding to me. Even when they first revealed what happened to the Icarus-1 i was still right there with them. But when the guy turned out to somehow be immune to flesh disintegrating light it took me out of the movie and made me go "lol wtf?" Had they not gone the whole space zombie route and instead just made the captain a regular mortal sunshine would be nearly flawless for me. Regardless its still a GREAT movie though.

What about people like me who saw it specifically because of all the GAF love and thought it was the stupidest thing ever?jett said:To the people that hated on it without even giving it a chance I say to you: fuck you assholes!

I felt the same way. I didnt know it was based on a tv show at the time i saw it but thats how i felt when it was over.Snowman Prophet of Doom said:It was well-written, but it felt more like a long episode of a television show than a movie (and given that it's based on a television show, I'm not surprised).
Seriously doubt it. The movie was alright for its genre, but it had way too much of a made-for-tv, SyFy feel to it. It'll be forgotten in a few years.Everdred said:Came to post this!

I also didn't find it that funny, but that's just me.

Also, Snaku is a hero.
Until I can rattle my brain for some better ones, I'll have to agree.Discotheque said:Also Master and Commander and Apocalypto are the best adventure films of the last decade.
