Aye, it's the FFV style, not the FFT style. Of course, if you play FFII through V, you can see plain as day the resemblance between II and IV, as well as III and V. Pretty sure they had two different development teams even back then.
Yeah, that's the old even/odd thing people used to talk about. Doesn't seem like alternating teams, though. Here are a few credit comparisons, though not always are the same titles given from title to title, so it's not always possible to see who's taking over certain roles.
Director
II, III, IV, V: Hironobu Sakaguchi
Character Designer
II, III, IV, V: Yoshitaka Amano
Music
II, III, IV, V Nobuo Uematsu
Producer
II, III, IV: Masafumi Miyamoto (Executive Producer in IV)
Scenario
II, III: Kenji Terada
Game Design
II: Hiromichi Tanaka, Akitoshi Kawazu, Koichi Ishii
III: Hiromichi Tanaka, Kazuhiko Aoki
IV: Takashi Tokita
Battle Program
III, IV, V: Kiyoshi Yoshii, Katsuhisa Higuchi
Mostly it just seems that if a person wasn't involved in the same role from one to another, there was no pattern about it.
