But turn based games now belong on handheld and not home consoles. Like if they're going to make a FFVII for the PS4 they should change the combat otherwise they might as well have just stuck it on mobile/3ds.

fyi the correct way to post this is: "i prefer playing turn based games on mobile platforms, where the pick up and play style suits turns. i like my big actiony titles on a home console where i can appreciate the mobility with a full-sized controller."

My guess, and it's just a guess, is that Square will announce more details about FF7 HD Remake this winter as they said, and then at the same time drop the PC port and bundle some sort of content or future access with it for FF7 Remake.

Anyway, what an annoying announcement. I was hoping for an "available today!" announcement because the remake's got me pumped up to play the original again but nope, wait another six months. It must be so much harder to port an ancient PC game to PS4 than it is to port it to iOS.

Ummm, what? How many turn based, non-DRPG, RPGs have come out on PS3/4? Like, maybe 2. You can't make the case that there's no market for them on consoles when the last high profile ones on PS2 sold gangbusters and there haven't been a well-marketed example of a turn-based RPG since. Hell, Turn-based rpgs have actually sold worse on handhelds than on consoles.

In any case, I expect people to be a lot more receptive now that we're getting... y'know, the one people wanted for a decade.

I don't think they would re-translate it...but I think they might be sprucing up the 2D assets to make them look more acceptable on the big screen.

Can always hope for a re-translation tho. I'm currently loving the Beacause mod!

I always wanted to play FF7 and I'm not going to start with the remake but playing a poorly translated version does not sound like fun.

Hopefully the IOS version isn't super heavy so I can get that if I get an iPad later in the year.
