Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on Gamecube was goddamn gem

Errrrr... this track alone killed the game for me. First section is SUPER annoying and it played all the time. Never came back to this game, also because of the lack of enough friends with a) a GBA and b) a GBA-GC cable.

Well, you quoted music opinions. One music track might have killed the game for you, but did it kill the entire soundtrack?

Did you listen to the rest of the tracks? Because they are amazing.

Crystal Bearers is the most disappointing game I've ever played. The gameplay was not fun. The story was rote. The characters boring. I figured there had to be a twist, that the obvious bad guy wasn't the final boss, but nope.

None of the charm of the first game, none of the gameplay mechanics, none of the fun. The only game to this day that I seriously regret buying.

but at the sametime its where FFCC would have went if they would have made a full blown sequel. They would have probably adopted a job system (with some exclusive jobs for the races).

But I mean, they didn't add these things in the DS games so why would a console sequel have had jobs? The only thing Explorers has in common with FFCC is multiplayer.

I like the game but every time I heard something among the lines of "I'm tire you carry it" coming out of that armless Moogle I felt the need to slap him over the head for making me carry the crystal.

Crystal chronicles was a gem, the art, music & was beautiful, it has the best FF intro of all.

I played a lot of FF games but the only one truely enjoyed is this one, it' my favourite of the bunch.

They need to get this team to make another Crystal chronicles game for 3ds or the new NX.

NX preferably

Explorers was a prime example of how terribly the system has aged

Plus I would want uncompromised online play. Something they keep struggling to include in 3DS games

Did you play the original or was your first one Ring of Fates?

NX is my last hope for this franchise. I do worry that that the key original people might no longer be able to work on it, though, because of the time that has passed.

Had a ridiculous amount of fun with friends and my current GF back then. Coordinating spells was simply so fun and awesome. Really, really wish they would port it to the WiiU with 3DS controller support, the gamepad already works as one. Perhaps it will get an NX port, but getting a few NX together might be much harder.

I loved this game! My buddy and his younger brothers use to play it a bunch. Unfortunately we never beat it. I'd love to play again.

Thanks for letting me know about EoT! Perhaps I'll start it today. However, I'm still skeptical that the DS hardware will allow for the elements I valued in the original game to shine. RoF's presentation, despite being impressive for a DS game, still could not create the kind of organic environments I appreciated so much. I think the emphasis on platforming and verticality was also partially responsible for that, since it led to a lot of "here's a rectangular prism you can jump on" moments.

I agree with your assessment of the other games, but I don't remember thinking too fondly of TCB's plot. At least, I remember thinking it kind of didn't make sense in parts. The music was definitely a step down, with my favorite tracks being the few done by the original composer.

I actually got done with Echoes of Time rather recently... unfortunately I think the choice of platform really holds the game back - with 4 characters on screen and a few enemies, the game becomes a slideshow with its framerate. Also looks like every other SE game on the DS with its grainy graphics and chibi char designs. A few cool puzzles in the dungeons, though. Ring of Fates I remember being pretty similar to Echoes of Time, with its framerate issues. Played a bit of the original, multiplayer, a long time ago but stopped after the first area, since we couldn't all coordinate our schedules.

I'd love a new CC game on a system that can handle it, and online play. Too few RPGs have multiplayer.

Now that we know what Nintendo Switch is, i so desperately want a Crstal Chronicles sequel :(

Actually let me dream a bit about it:

-Art by Akihiko Yoshida
-Again that semi-chibi style but with modern graphical detail
-Sequel to the original CC
-Simple combat system, too complicated and it would ruin CC's charme
-Expanded character customization
-Races and proper job system
-AI for missing players
-Online multiplayer
-Local multiplayer (from 1 Switch unit docked; 4 players with 4 Switch units)
-2-players mode with simplier controls for playing with just one JoyCon (so 4 players with 2 Switch units)
-Expand on the combo attacks from the 1st game
-More interactions with the sourroundings (jumps, pushable objects, stealth, breakable things)
-Randomly generated side dungeons
-Side missions like monster hunts
-4 players minigames/PvP

Just the idea of playing online with my friends from my couch, then meet them in real life and play together both outside or at home within the same save would make me so happy

This plus Four Swords Adventures. No, Triforce Heroes is not a proper substitute.
