Final Fantasy Five Four Job Fiesta 2012

Hit a wall with Byblos ; lv18 party, 3 monks that do 60 HP of damage twice but miss half the time and a barehanded berserker that deals 200~. I keep resetting to get a pre-emptive attack so I can pummel him before he puts up Protect but after that it just goes downhill and he wrecks me with Drain and Wind Slash.

World 2 has HiPotions from the getgo, which alleviates some heal worries. Aside from that, you will have to play evasive and support to alleviate some damage.

Once your Summoners have Golem and Carbuncle, you'll be good. Since you don't have any real magic to speak of you can have Carbuncle up basically all the time.

You can use Masamune as an item, just like the elemental rods, and it'll cast haste, without breaking.

Thanks for the advice! I'll keep an eye out.

Man, when did Tycoon become such a dick?

This asshole again.

Bullshit!

The first time I fought him I made the grave error of not switching out a coral sword for an ancient sword. You can't hit Archeoavis with the coral sword because it has a lightning effect. I also switched out my Red Mage's coral sword for a healing rod since I knew Faris wouldn't be doing physical attacks. Made the fight MUCH easier.

Krile comes to save the day!

Never get tired of mode 7.

And my final job is...Chemist! Knight/Red Mage/Bard/Chemist seems a little low in the damage department, but I know the Chemist is a great class. Any tips on what to give it as a sub ability?

Probably Equip Shields, !Red (for a while at least), or Sing.

Hmm...what about 3 Berserkers and a Monk? Have the Monk constantly throwing potions while the Berserkers pummel away? They seem to be doing more damage anyway. Also, are you sure that Barehanded does more than [insert whatever Axe you can get at this point]?

Either Eq Shields, !Red (for awhile), or Sing.

I might go with Equip Shields since Chemist has poor magic and give my Red Mage Two-Handed. I only have three songs now (HP Regen, Stop and Confuse) so Sing would be a waste.

I could be wrong here (can't verify, at work), but I think !Red would give you access to Blink, Protect, and Shell, so regardless of Magic it's sometimes good to have someone else with the ability to cast them.

I've tried that but it's still maybe 300HP per turn because of all the misses and Potions just don't cut it. And barehanded does more than an Axe/Hammer at this point.

I just realized I can swap my Thief / Zerker since they are both maxed. Zerk with the agility of a Thief, along with a Thief that can use Axes = : O

Regarding Man God's post:

Axes ignore the effects of Old.

I don't think this is true. Two of my Zerkers had a Death Scythe and his damage was horrible compared to my other Zerker, who was dealing almost 4x the damage. This was during the Soul Cannon fight. So my only guess is that one of them got Old'd.

Other than that, great info in that post. I just need to learn Chemist's Mixes...

Holy fuck I killed it~ Thank you RNG

Congrats!

I had the same thing in the Minotaur fight later. I had 2 Berserkers who did about 4000 total each round. I had to hope that after the Mirage Vest wore off, they would dodge enough attacks with their shields and Elven Mantles to survive (2 hits each and they'd be dead). Also had to hope that the Chicken Knife didn't try to make me run away and waste an attack.

Luckily, the second try I succeeded.

Took me about 30 tries to beat it, the future sure ain't bright for me :|

Equip Axes + Twin Lance = One bad-ass Thief. Still really squishy though.

Welp, time to go kill me some Crystals.

Edit: Goodbye Juniorship, thank you for being with me for the past 3 years. You will be missed.

Haven't gotten to the Flying Ruins of Ronka/Lonka just yet but I almost hope for a berserker now. My party of Thief/Blue Mage and Beastmaster aren't exactly the heaviest of hitters. That Chimera enemy in the desert which has Aqua Breath was tough but keeping everyone on super low health and spamming the ???? Blue Magic put him down fast. Thinking about level grinding a bit so I can get the Control ability and pick up some more Blue Magic.

so what does flying squirrel even do
Paralyse. IIRC if animation showed it worked.

he then responds by casting vampire on my mystic knight... who was equipped with the bone mail, lol
Thanks for reminding me what happened with Enkidu for me. He ended using Vampire to recover 3000+ or his 4000 HP...twice. That could have gone of forever...well or until Enkidu running out of MP anyway...

First time I've joined for the Fiesta and only second time playing the game. Can someone offer some advice for how the hell I am supposed to heal with Knight/Summoner/Beastmaster/Samurai? I am barely scraping by on bosses right now (about to close up World 1) and I am assuming it's not going to get any easier.!
Flame Sword and Fire Shield or Flame ring is it and you can't get one of those for quite a while and the other needs money, lots and lots of money. With that party you're best off powering through stuff (and you can power through stuff). Also soon physical damage will not be an issue.

You've done it now but in case anyone else is reading and has similar problems. Hope for spider web and magic hammer to be used a lot.

How can I beat the magic dude's side in the fork tower with Knight, Berserker, Time mage, and Dragoon without !lancering away his mp for 500 turns?

does anybody know at what point i tweet for my fire jobs, like i've just finished karnak and unlocked 3 of them,

does that mean i can tweet now and if it is one of those three use it and if not just wait?

Yep.

DMG-01: To get to the Phoenix Tower, go to the Hidden Village at the bottom of the map (the one on the really thin strip that's hidden in the trees) and grab the Black Chocobo. Fly it to the desert in the north, land in the trees, and walk to the tower from there.

Oh sweet thanks. I generally just skip the Phoenix Tower but I guess I have reason not to now!

Using the Job Fair price allocations, I was curious to see what years I had the 'best' and 'worst' parties:

2010: Black Mage/Beserker/Ranger/Samurai is $15
2011: White Mage/Mystic Knight/Geomancer/Dancer is $13
2012: Knight/Red Mage/Bard/Chemist is $12

Interesting, this year would be considered the 'worst'. I came very close in 2010 to beating the game, whereas last year I only got to Antolyon. Hopefully I'll actually complete it this year.

2009 - Blue Mage/Berserker/Beastmaster/Dancer - $9
2010 - Thief/White Mage/Red Mage/Ninja - $10
2011 - Blue Mage/Time Mage/Bard/Dancer - $13
2012 - Blue Mage/Berserker/Thief/Berserker - $7

Heh, interesting idea.

2012: Monk/Mystic Knight/Bard/Dancer $12

So my team this year is slightly higher-valued than last year's team. I will still miss Curaga, Iainuki, Zeniage, and !Gaia though.

No Samurai this year, which saddens me. I love how much you can dodge with Shirahadori and dodge gear.

Edit: Dodge =/= Iainuki.

Looking real poverty this year where as the last two had the 1% jobs.

Finally onto world 3! Protip: if you're going to use the bone mail on a mystic knight for drain sword fun, make sure you have some kind of back up armor so you don't end up being stuck with it when melee isn't an option IE against ExDeath at the end of world 2 :<
