Final Fantasy Five Four Job Fiesta 2012

Grinded for gil a few levels up to buy items for my Chemist to mix before preceding.

Zombies are so 1992.

Phoenix Down FTW

Hide your kids, hide your wife (pretty sure I said that last year too). I forgot to take a Victory screen shot, but the boss is a joke if you're unaware.

That's some bad weed dawg.

KLGDSJLGSDKGJSDL What an annoying fight! These negative status spewing bosses are so cheap (Necron anyone?). Don't let my health deceive you; it was quite the struggle. It really sucks you can't mix items that remove aging and silence. If I had ABP grinded at Bal I could have gotten Esuna for my Chemist, but it slipped my mind. Turtle Shell + Dragon Fang was a life saver.

Will be grinding again this time for Dragon Fangs at Drakenvale for my Chemist.

Also, RK, hook a brother up with his star and heart, man! :P
You linked to GAF posts. That makes the process much harder for me :/ They should be up soonish.

They is up! Your heart and star are glistening brightly.

Melvin and company make it to The Boss's office, but are held up a bit by The Secretary.

Seems he's been working out, and wants to show off his body. Strange, I know.

However, The Boss is not amused by this display, and fires The Secretary on the spot.

With no further barriers, Melvin and co. lay into The Boss.

They beat him to within an inch of his life, but just then the police arrive. Melvin and co. are forced to abandon their plans for the time being.

Alright, I at least have some PD's now, but I still have no Rings or any idea where to find them. I'm currently just grinding in the hopes that I can survive Aqua Breath next time. Seriously, that attack is the worst.

Amazing how long it took to get through credits for pictures, but #victory info just tweeted. To go again, I just tweet #reg again after victory confirmed, right?

Nope, no Flame Rings, and in fact, no Phoenix Downs.

Ok, let me talk you through this.

Give everyone you can drain sword, start in the back row.

also (and I know this sounds weird) but start your Mystic Knight at an amount of hp where he will auto cast shell on himself and then spend the first turn of your battle healing him.

then just focus your fire on the first crystal. Slow and steady with the drain swords which will keep your HP up. They each have what, 7777 hp?

Below 3000 HP is when they start casting. So if you can keep it above that you can then move everyone up front and kill that one off in one turn at about 3200 or so.

Does anyone have rapid fire maxed? You could switch that person to Mystic Knight and cheese the fuck out of this guys as well.

Completed the barrier tower yesterday with my (WM + RM + Geo + Drag) team. When I first played FFV on Famicom way back in the days Atmos gave me such a hard time even with the full arsenal of jobs available, I thought it was one of the hardest boss of the game. With my subpar job lineup I was dreading the fight and wondered if I should grind.

Atmos basically just spammed comet all fight long and each cast would kill one of my characters. Fortunately all four of my character has raise from white or red magic, and my strategy was to have my dragoon jump Atmos' butt off and my red mage breaking rods all the time, meanwhile my two other characters cast raise or phoenix dawn when MP ran out. !Gaia was next useless during this fight.

I beat Atmos in one try without having to grind, patted myself on the back and will continue my journey today.

I actually beat atomos on my first try, but I had the same issue as you where I was like WTF SO MANY COMETS. Turns out his attack pattern changes if one of your party members is dead, he doesn't use comet as much... Lame.

...you do know he stops casting if you leave someone dead, right?

Man, I'm trying to beat the Crystals with my Monk/Mystic Knight/Ranger/Dancer Team, and it's not going well.

That's similar to my team, Monk/Mystic Knight/Bard/Dancer. That battle has been my biggest ordeal so far, though I was able to get through it. Here are some tips:

- Your Mystic Knight should be starting off with !Spellblade Drain, and so should your Dancer, so that you can keep up with healing for the battle.
- Keep in mind that each crystal doesn't start to use magic until its HP falls below 3000. With that, consider keeping track of a crystal's HP, and try to bring the target's HP as close to 3000 as possible without going under (They start off with 7777 HP).
- The Monk may be a liability with that strategy, since they could accidentally counter your target's attacks, forcing you to start earlier than you hoped. You could always kill the Monk and revive them when you're ready to strike.

- In my case, I had to rely on the Bard's Swift Song to get more turns in, so that they could try to kill each crystal before they cast their spells. In your case, that goal may be difficult to do, since even the Ranger's !Rapid Fire ability hits random targets.
- When you're ready to strike, revive the Monk (if needed), heal up the party with items, have the Monk and MK start charging up a !Focus when the rest of the team is ready, the Dancer use !Dance (or attack), and the Ranger attack. Hopefully, your team should be able to take the crystal out before it casts too many spells, but if not, keep hitting it with regular attacks and hope that your Drain can outpace the damage.
- Rinse and repeat with the others. Suggested order: Right (Water), Down (Earth), Left (Wind), Top (Fire). If you picked up the Flame Shield instead of the Aegis Shield in the Great Forest (Opening the chest after the fire died down), then you might be able to do the fire crystal a bit earlier as the shield will absorb Firaga.

- Bring plenty of Phoenix Downs and Hi-Potions. If you need EXP or gil, the Dechirers in the forest above Moore are a good source. Or you could farm Dragon Fangs from the Zombie Dragons in Drakenvale (2500 gil a pop). For ABP, try the statues in Castle Bal's basement, which can be insta-killed with gold needles.

I beat Atmos with one character alive at 4 hp. Bitch of a fight for me but glad I could do it on the first try.

Man, I'm trying to beat the Crystals with my Monk/Mystic Knight/Ranger/Dancer Team, and it's not going well.

I had similar party: thief, mystic knight, knight, red mage

I was able to work through. My knight was basically invincible taking zero damage to physical hits (not sure why, just had crystal armour and genji glove equipped) and dodging most with a shield. It was fun doing a familiar FFIV strategy using the knight protect on near death members to take essentially no damage. Attacked with drain blade spell with knight dual wield like someone mentioned. Prayed for sword dance too so the crystals would only attack once. Flame shield helped a bit with that...

You can put Atomos to sleep!!!? And here I am thinking those sleep/confuse/mini magic are useless in earlier FFs.

Yes I know Atomos stops spamming comet if one of my dude is dead, but I have some weird OCD with the way I play my RPGs and one of them is keep everyone alive at all times. With my current setup I also refrain from changing Faris to a Dragoon because I already have a mandatory Red Mage in the party. I don't need two red costumes in my party.

Gah! 4 crystal fight down to the last one and two aerogas come out back to back much too quickly :(

So close but it wasnt too bad just need some better luck.

Beat the crystals, but it took some grinding and party restructuring. I tell you, Rapid Fire Draining Spellblade on a Mystic Knight is a godsend.

So I now have Black Mage / White Mage / White Mage.

Does that mean I need to have at least 2 White Mages in my group at any given time? If so :(

you already have rapid fire?

I just got it after I finished the pyramid, I must be doing something wrong

#victory~ (Monk/Berserker/Geomancer/Dancer)

I grinded for a couple levels too many just to be safe, but I ended up needing them since my Dancer decided to just never use Sword Dance ever. Fortunately I had ~30 elixirs and used every single one of them before victory.

I liked this party. It sucked for healing but otherwise it was pretty versatile. The Berserker didn't even hinder me 95% of the time. That 5% sucked though.

Jump too; full damage from backrow even.

My favorite is the second weapon as a ninja with the first weapon being twin lance. You get three swings and never get the attempt to run away message.

They really do place summons right before you might want them. How nice. Carbuncle is good addition to my roster particularly so because I don't have any reflect rings right now. Solune is getting lit up a lot lately. I should probably take off that bone mail.

I wish these Gilgamesh fights were harder.

The boss. Carbuncle helped a bunch but it mostly came down to lone monk/summoner beat downs. I realized here that Berserkers can't do crap about reverse polarity. That gimped back row damage. I could only hope that Exdeath changed my positions back (never happened though). That wraps up the end of world 2. Moving onward should finally start netting me equipment that's better than barehand.

Ugh, this is the worst possible thing. I finally made it to Castle Bal so I can AP grind, but my White Mage doesn't know squat in the Red Mage department, and vice versa. I'm beginning to wonder if I should bother grinding out for Doublecast or not. At the very least, I want my White Mage to level in Red enough to be able to cast the -ra spells.

Sweet beat the crystals!

I was super dependant on my ninja using shurikens, but that was what I needed to win that while everyone else basically just used cura the entire time...good times to finally get through it after many tries :D

However being in world 2 you're already past Red Mages prime.

Grinding up Red X2 on your Red Mage and then making him white Makes an awesome White Mage that can cast twice, switching your previous White Mage to a Red Mage turns that character into a White Mage that can cast twice, gives them beginning black magic, and the real kicker here, much better equipment.

Feel sorry for those that get Red Mage with no way to power them up.

My main Red Mage is 800 AP away from Doublecast, and she's Level 5 already in White. Not counting if I get a group of 5 statues in the basement, it would take at least 200 encounters to get Doublecast.

Not even EV Training in Pokemon takes this long.

EDIT: Fuck it, I don't need Doublecast that badly. ONWARD.

Ugh, just as I feared, I'm stuck on Exdeath (world 2). My Mystic Knight only does 300 damage with Drain, and my Dancer is too unreliable in the damage department. Plus, my Bard is mostly out of commission due to continuous Swift Song. It's becoming quite clear that 30 Hi-Potions and 12 Phoenix Downs are not enough for Exdeath's Castle (I was down to 20 and 11 respectively when I reached the top), since I ran out during my first battle during his second phase, and he killed my Mystic Knight. I might just go back out, level to 31 or 32, get more items, and try to get through again.

Gilgamesh 4 was no problem, as I was able to do enough Drain damage, and I was able to get a long Swift Song going, so he went down pretty quickly.

And the lava floors made me miss my Geomancer from last year. :(

EDIT: Guess it was a good idea to leave. Bartz mastered Dancer and Faris mastered Bard on the way out, so I switched their jobs. After leaving, I went back to Moore to get a bunch of Phoenix Down and Hi Potions (Now at 40 and 60 respectively). I also picked up a Luminous Robe for my Dancer, as its Magic Def is about 10 higher than the Diamond Plate. Now I'm at level 30, so I'll probably level to 31 or 32 using the Dechirers around Moore, hopefully getting some Cure Beast mobs so I can get some extra elixirs.

Heh, worst case, I could always put !Hide on one of my characters and hide them when Zombie Breath turns the rest of the party into zombies, and let them slowly kill Exdeath.

Yeah, I started for 1h yesterday and I'm still only at 328AP. Still had to get Job lvl 3 for Reg Mage so, I'm thinking it'll be about 2h for 800ABP.

There's always Phoenix Tower, as well as Movers in The Void.
