Final Fantasy IV Compilation Coming to PSP

The latest issue of V Jump has a first look at Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection. This PSP title combines Final Fantasy IV with Final Fantasy IV The After Years. The latter is an episodic sequel to FFIV that was released on Wii Ware last year after originally appearing on cell phones.

For the PSP, Square Enix is redoing the visuals and adding a new scenario that connects FFIV and The After Years. There could be some other new elements as well, but we'll have to wait for a followup report.

Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection is due for PSP release in Spring 2011.

and still no Before Crisis. FUSE!

Sprites look like they've been given the FF1&2 PSP style update.

So awesome. I'm glad I didn't spend 45 bucks downloading the WiiWare version. :D

Can't wait to see that $39.99 price tag!
Considering it has the visual of the FF1 and 2 remakes on the PSP and it comes with both titles, it's better than buying the After Years on Wiiware for 45 bucks.

So this is just going to be like the overpriced Final Fantasy I and II PSP ports, no?
How is it overpriced? The After cost the price of a full price game anyway, once all episodes were bought.

I wish I had gotten this instead of paying more than thirty dollars for The After Years

is what I would say had I not stopped playing that piece of crap around Yang's chapter.

Awesome. Would love to see it on the DS or Iphone as well. Still haven't gotten around to playing FFIV...

Considering Final Fantasy IV is my all time favorite Final Fantasy, and that I also thoroughly enjoyed The After Years, this is amazing news.

I'm still pissed that Square had the audacity to charge that much for what's basically a glorified ROM hack.

But I bought it anyway and loved it because I love FF4 :(

so FF IV will get a sprite upgrade? that's awesome. the only way to remake older RPGs imo.

let's see if there will be a chance for an english release.

CG Ceodore looks hideous. I'm so glad you don't have to use him past his tale.

awesome :D much prefer that style to the way they remake them on DS
I agree.

You know what, I bet this will have a DLC code for Dissidia 012 also. Giving Cecil his After Years appearance.
That would be sweet, his TAY look is boss.

FF V and VI next?
FF III first. :(

I still yearn for a modern 2D remake of III.

Wishful thinking, but FFIV Mobile version? Oh, and The After Years is VERY disappointing.

What reason would they have not to release it? It's easy money. The localizations are done for everything except the new scenario.

Considering how much everyone says the after years sucks I don't find this to be good news...
Did you try TAY? While it was far from perfect, I thought it was a lot of fun. Plus, this enhanced port could potentially fix the issues that were present in the cellphone/Wii version.

i agree. they got my full support :D

i hope it doesn't suck, but even then, FF IV upgrade alone is worth the price for me. maybe there will be new music arrangements too?

I will wait for it to drop to $9.99 like the Final Fantasy I and II before consider buying it.
Given how fast PSP games drop it won't be long.

I see an ATB bar in the scan. I hope they don't have any bugs in the battle system like the GBA version had. That was the only thing keeping IV: Advance from being the best version of IV.

You say that now, but you'll buy it like the rest of us when it comes out.

How many times have you bought Bubble Bobble though?

IV is like the worse FF for the SNES. Gimmie V or VI with better graphics already.

No way. You go to the moon in IV and its got better music than V. V and VI do need a remake already though. With voice acting like IV DS.

This will be like the 6th time I buy FFIV. I'm such a whore :(

Heh, I passed on I&II, but I might have to grab this for PSP if the sprite upgrade and audio upgrade is substantial. That and I only played the first section of after years...so if its the entire game, i'll bite at a decent price.

Maybe I'll get it just for the content between the games. Are they going to expand anything content wise with FFIV and TAY, compared to the DS and Wii releases respectively?

Just the idea of a potentially glitch free, definitive, 2D version of FFIV is making me extremely excited.

Pure Speculation: If this has a graphic filter option (SNES/Mobile/PSP), it would be a dream come true. (Wishful thinking, I know.)

day 1,for the after years alone (fuck that episodic shit) even if it sucks

oh boy just think how ungodly beautiful ff6 would like with this kind of upgrade ;_;

Would have been a truly awesome collection if it had the DS remake included too. The extra plot elements in that version removed a lot of the ambiguity in the original version.

Either way, I'm hoping they make this PSP version the best possible and complete version. Keep the GBA extras and improvements while bringing back the audio quality of the console versions. Better yet, bring the visuals up to the quality of The After Years.
