Final Fantasy V - 1up review

We're getting games localized less than three months after they're released in Japan... what the hell are people bitching about?

yeah that's definitely a good thing :)

I think the extra content is mostly at the end of the game. I dunno if it would constitute a shitload.
I'm still early in it though, so i'm concerned that the difficulty might be nerfed, despite what parish says, since he loves it so much, and he's such a wimp about hard games.

Hmm... you know I thought about that, too. Just got to play up to the first save point in the Ship Graveyard and I don't remember the original being THIS easy. But then again, it's been a while... 4 years... since I last played through the original SFC version. We'll see when we get to the floating cannon, that's the one part I remember being extremely difficult.

Unlike the previous GBA titles, FFV and FFVI do not have WonderSwan Colour port brethren. That's where all the problems derived from. These are "brand new" efforts.
VP: Lenneth got screwed

wow... that's a ridiculously high score for FFV. Too high.

GBA version must have added a shit load of stuff. @_@
it's a good port of the best ff ever, so the scores doesnt surprise me.

Could the DS even handle FF9? Do the carts have enough space?

I think it could. The FMVs would be handled with a much better codec, so they'd have vastly smaller movie files.

Nice score. Best handheld RPG of the year?

Is a shame 1up lost most of it's reviewing credibility in the past few weeks.

There can never be too many FF titles!!!

what is the limit on the size of a DS cart?

my life currently owned by FF12

How about
Galura?
That boss has put the kibosh on at least half my playthrough attempts of this game (Though I have beat the game multiple times. )

The odds of the GBA getting FF9 are about as high as the odds of FF9 actually being the best FF ever.

I think he meant the DS..in which case I still am skeptical if it can handle it (FF9).

Oh, man, I have no idea how they plan to pull this off.

Do you have a release date?

Wait, GBA is getting FF9? How does that work?
error's favorite FF is 5 and yours is apparently 9. currently, we are in a FF5 thread..do you see how this works?

This DS is more technically capable than the PSX so in that regard it could handle it. On the other hand, it would need a number of rather large matrix rom carts... it's doable but not cost effective for SE. Wasn't FFIX like 4 CD's (granted most of that is FMV and prerendered backgrounds). They'd have to do a FFIII like remake.

Yeah but most of the non-FMV data is duplicated across those CDs.

Well that's cool. I'm not a big fan of FFV, so I think I'll wait to FFVI is released before I pick this one up also (hopefully it goes down in price but I've never seen a gba game go down in price :( )

Ugh... I went from having nothing to play to having too much to play in the blink of an eye. March might be the new November, but this is still pretty brutal.

Despite the lame story, I'm totally addicted to this game. Couldn't get into it on the PS1, but right now I'm playing this over FFXII.

Did you play FFVI? VII? IX? X? XII? :P j/k

I just thought those FFs were better.

What to buy first tho - FFV advance or FFIII :/
