I think our discussion is going to get lost in this sea of hilariousness, but I agree. It's a weird byproduct of a past age of gaming, where they'd drop a few hints in a magazine, or a few screens, with like one paragraph of semi-new information. EGM was particularly bad about this with FFX until they had a huge spread out for the game.
I think game companies in general need to handle their business with bigger games like this better.
Have you paid attention to Square Enix in the last decade? I am serious.
Now is imposible, cmon, stop with that shit, i prefer wait 5 years than this.
Honestly the last old style scaled jrpg I can think of made as an AAA game is Blue Dragon. Even Lost Odyssey had a lot of cutbacks like FFXIII did. Not as linear tho.
2021, FF7R complete edition. I am positive this will happen.
Episode 1-2016
Episode 2-2018
Episode 3-2020
Complete edition- 2021
Honestly, would you rather just wait 6 years for the whole thing?
Should be removed from the game altogether, given how tasteless and not funny it is.The cross dressing scene.
Me neither. Fuck waiting.Good for you?
I don't.
There are large sprawling jrpgs available to play right now that are longer than 40 hours and have much larger worlds (some of which are hand made, not procedural). They didn't take a decade to develop either.
I don't buy it at all. I mean, I GET that FFVII is massive for todays standard (and even back then) - but you've got a shit trilogy like FFXIII covering up for what could be replaced (content-wise) with the entirety of FFVII.
Glad you came in to set them all straight.Final Fantasy threads sure bring the entitled manchildren to the yard.
entitled? lmaoFinal Fantasy threads sure bring the entitled manchildren to the yard.

Insert $3.99 to buy a Phoenix Down
Give me a break. Get off your high horse. This might ruin the game, but it also might not. Point is: It's too early to complain about a game solely because it will be episodic.
Should be removed from the game altogether, given how tasteless and not funny it is.
So do that? Now is imposible, cmon, stop with that shit, i prefer wait 5 years than this.
Remember how Square would only show the Final Fantasy XIII/Versus trailers in closed megatheatres? What the fuck was up with that.
Now is imposible, cmon, stop with that shit, i prefer wait 5 years than this.
well yeah, pretty much.then nobody should have cared for this remake, by that logic.
Should be removed from the game altogether, given how tasteless and not funny it is.

Other people have suggested that the multi-part series model is the only way Final Fantasy VII Remake could ever be completed and I agree with them.
Final Fantasy VII has three/four disks. It had a development budget of $67 million in 2015 when adjusting for inflation, extremely large for a video game in 1997.
Adapting that behemoth to modern sensibilities, especially when you're a relatively small in-house developer like Square Enix (compared to massive titans like Activision Blizzard) who has to heavily rely on outsourcing to get your video game completed, must be incredibly cumbersome for the teams they have in-house. Logistically it's probably a nightmare, so managing development in smaller chunks might be the only way that the team can avoid from getting completely overwhelmed, especially with other in-house titles like "Kingdom Hearts 3" concurrently in development.
If Final Fantasy VII were a three-part series, that's three retail releases that successfully capitalize on the iconic "Final Fantasy VII" brand. It would maintain the IP's longevity in the market, and it would maximize revenue potential.
It also mitigates risk. Multi-part releases allow Square Enix to adjust future titles in response to feedback from the first one, while a major release upfront would not only take much longer development-wise, but if it failed then its sales potential would be severely truncated.
Final Fantasy threads sure bring the entitled manchildren to the yard.
Try this instead.
Ni No Kuni? Lot's of HD towns and all that shit.
Ni No Kuni ?
And 2 is coming! Now that's something to look forward to.
Stop saying this. Any game can be made. People weren't excited about FF7R because they thought it would be easy to pull off - they were excited because of the scope of what it meant.
When it was announced people were buzzing with excitement going "It'll be on multiple blu-rays!", bringing back the nostalgia of a game so massive you had to crack open the packaging more than once over the course of playing it.
We were not buzzing with excitement because we were like "OMG It'll be too big, I can't wait to buy the season pass!!!"
Final Fantasy threads sure bring the entitled manchildren to the yard.
Square just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase any episodes of Final Fantasy VII, nor will they purchase any of Square's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.
Square, publicly apologize and cancel FVII being released episodically or you can kiss your business goodbye.
What? That shit was done from 2004 to like 2010. It had nothing to do with the PS1 era.Their PS1 success sent Square WAY up their own ass. They were high as shit on themselves for a long time.
there has to be 7 parts. It is in the title and this is Square. You'll be lucky to hit the Chocobo Ranch in the first part.2021, FF7R complete edition. I am positive this will happen.
Episode 1-2016
Episode 2-2018
Episode 3-2020

Honestly, would you rather just wait 6 years for the whole thing? I sure wouldn't. It'd be the whole last guardian all over again.
Agree
Same. I can't watch a season of a show until it is finished so I can plow through, and same will hold true with this. I'll wait for it all to be out.Me too actually
Is this a joke? I swear I've seen this exact same post before but the game and company were different. Is there something I'm missing?
entitled? lmao
How is any of this reaction indicative of entitlement? They're remaking a complete game to be sold in episodes.
Duckroll's Hobbit comparison is perfect.
Ah, juniorsIs this a joke? I swear I've seen this exact same post before but the game and company were different. Is there something I'm missing?
