Final Fantasy VII: Remake Will Be Fully Voiced; New Info About World Map, Mini Games

I'm really afraid they will remove Mukki... :(

It's definitely a weird issue. One the one-hand, the whole mission plays out for cheap laughs, but it was also designed in mind to make the player feel as uncomfortable as humanly possible. To imagine the gender play, a muscle daddy sauna orgy of insinuation, a lustful mob boss with an S&M dungeon. Even played for laughs, there is only so much of that you can keep in the upgrade to CG Movie quality while still keeping that T for Teen rating.

Thats not a vertical slice. All the bits we have seen are from the first 30 minutes of the game, during the first mission.

And rhis doesnot surprise me in the slightest. Why SE hasen't shitcanned nomura after the VXIII debacle is beyond me.
Ofc but seemingly that's all they have and nothing else based on this interview. So they made a nice demo that could be cut up into a trailer and now they have to make the full game. It's pretty nuts since this is like the 3rd time they've done that recently.

So, if they are just getting started and rumors swirling of new systems coming out in 2019 (maybe 2018 for Xbone), this is sure to be cross gen at the least.

"We’re at the stage where we can say we’re finally getting started. We have ideas regarding battles, too, but it will take time to drop them into the actual game"

This quote from the interview makes me feel we will play this game on our Playstation 5..............

we have new info on the world map situation:

We have no info on the world map situation. thank you for tuning in

I'm glad it's fully voiced though. Curious if they'll consider the 1 line for Red/Cait to be canon enough to keep (hopefully not)

Curious where they'll cram troy baker (Introducing Snow-Boarding for the golden saucer!)

Haha for me the Honeybee was probably one of the most taboo or risque thing I had seen in gaming up to that point, or since MK and Eternal Champions. The whole innuendo of the whole place but also then the sort of 'devil worship' and everything. For me it was similar to a few of the more bloody or violent scenes in the game in that they were pushing boundaries.

What is a "sandbox" overworld?

Probably more like FFX. Which had many different locations but you could only jump to different ones after a certain moment of the game. Contrast that with FFVII's world map where you did the actually traveling between locations. I'd also put the Tales games in the camp of sandboxed overworlds.

I wish they do a compleat realization of this minigame and make it playable in Gold Saucer.

What? That's the opposite of "sandbox" games. The best example of sandbox is GTA. Sandbox means you can go literally anywhere in the game at any time. That's the antithesis of Tales or FFX.

Regardless, they're not saying they're even targeting sandbox, just that they're not obsessed with the concept (i.e. they're not gonna try to cater to the GTA crowd with world design). That much was pretty much a given to anyone paying attention, so this answer is pretty much a non-answer on the subject.

No, that's not correct either. An open-world game is one where you can anywhere at any time. A sandbox is a game with a lot of freedom in terms of gameplay mechanics (ability to kill NPC,s destructible environment, etc.). A game can be both, of course.

Yeah I was thinking of instances not sandbox. Thanks for the correction.

Ahh, thank you for the nuances. I thought open-world ---> sandbox was a general tier system and not more specified. Much appreciated.

I can deal with this kind of announcement, at this point it makes me relax a little, as long as they choose their words wisely. Super stoked for Mini Games, G-Bike and Snowboarding are a MUST!!!! Those two are the only ones I cannot do without, especially after G-bike being cancelled, which would have been the only phone game I've ever played.

I wish they do a compleat realization of this minigame and make it playable in Gold Saucer.

Agreed! Was pretty fun.

Mog House is totally gonna be the one they cut.

Also it's reassuring that they mentioned the Honey Bee Inn. If they were going to cut it I doubt they'd say anything specific.

Ohohoho! How wrong you are! They're going to turn it into a an entire chapter of FF7r where you play a complex 20 hour moogle dating sim and you can't play the next chapter unless you get a good ending.

I am curious to see how they handle the Honey Bee Inn sequences, such as the muscle men, as well with Cloud crossdressing.

They probably won't be in the game.

Whether or not the end product is good I don't know, but I feel people need to take a step back and reassess their expectations of faithfulness to the original. There is so much talk about "when they get to Costa Del Sol" and "which mini-games will be included" and all kinds of minutiae. More than likely, none of it.

Again, maybe that's good and maybe that's bad. I don't know. But aside from the basic overall story and big locations (Midgar, Cosmo Canyon, Junon) I expect a very pared down sense of exploration and adventure. It will be big and cinematic with a shitload of corridors and very likely no world map.

Personally I'd love it if the whole game was remade down to the smallest event - it's my #1 game of all time. But I'm trying to look at it from a different angle, and every conclusion I come to tells me they are not gonna sweat any of the small stuff.

Slap minigame was the stupidest shit ever. Tifa would have wasted that woman in a single punch. No reason to get into a "slapfest" that makes both characters look like teenage girls in a terrible sitcom.

“We’re at the stage where we can say we’re finally getting started"

Why even say shit like this in the interview, for the fans to read it and be even more pissed ? just hope what they showed this month was not just a fucking part created to show off like the fake trailer Nomura did in E3 2013.

Nomura problem will always be the same, work at to many shit at the same time, just put this man on the ff 7 remake project focused ffs

Being fully voiced is expected at this day and age so nothing new there.

Cant wait for : " Is the fu"#$%&/() tea ready !!!! " Drink your "#$%&/()= tea !!!"

About the world map i just hope they make a open world, dont need to be hyper realistic like ff 15 but it need to have one, it needs to have big open areas. If not why split the game? Only midgar is a big city in ff 7, if you look at it we have midgar, junon is medium and the rest is super small towns...

Regarding the world map, sounds like they're more concerned with the vibe and feel of the environment and recreating that atmosphere rather than the mechanics of it all. I'm OK with this.

That interview was sure a whole lot of nothing.

And what's this about there potentially not being a world map
and not all mini games in (and the dating scenarios being changed?) I thought the entire point of across several games was so that they could ensure content wouldn't get cut.

The question seemed to be more about whether they'd turn the world map into a continuous open world, rather than about the original world map itself.

I get the feeling that this entire game is basically going to be what Versus XIII was, just with FF7 story/characters.

Leave my Honeybee Inn intact, pl0x.

You know it just won't happen :(

The guy can do anything with belts.

I wish they do a compleat realization of this minigame and make it playable in Gold Saucer.

But speed up the start a bit more.

I'm gonna take a random stab in the dark and guess an open world map won't be happening. If he's more focused on scenery then I imagine he will just be making chapters about focused points of the story. Basically travailing/ grinding around corridors (ff13).
He might pull it off better that 13, though he might not.

I'm excited to be disapointed :-S

How’s production going?
