It doesn't have to be opera or something equally arcane to be "good" and appeal to more modern sensibilities. Inevitably, you're not going to please everyone.

But this sounds like the type of Song that appears at the end of a Direct-to-Video Hannah Montana movie, after the nervous teen finally kisses the girl to sweeping fireworks (wait, that's pretty much what happens in the game! Fuck!). And the Japanese song is absolutely no better.

However, I suspect the song is about as terrible as the love story the game is going to present, so maybe I should set my expectations to the realistic level of "Direct-to-Video Hannah Montana Movie."

Harsh but true.

Also, i finally got around to seeing the the trailer and i am embarrassed for SE.

Wait, March? That's awesome but, Bad Company is in march too...damn....but wait Dark void in feb 28, and lost planet it's 23 same with conviction....

....Fuck...

YAY at a release date! Do we have any word on a NA release of GT5 yet? I'd hate to have both games drop in the same month as I just don't have the time :lol

Is Serah even going to be playable? I find the fact that she's not on those background images in the video interesting, like she might be an Aeris figure but an unplayable one.

Makes sense to me. November is also pretty big (Valentine's day conception).
I doubt it. People get freaky anywhere and everywhere and any time. I doubt there's any real correlation at all, actually.

Plenty of computer chair vocal experts here ironically not working in the music industry.

Anyway I think both of them suit a female (Will be used with Lightning on screen, I assume) emotional/inspirational/whatever scene well, the song by Leona Lewis a bit more, perhaps.

March eh? Not to long of a wait then. Kinda wish it was a longer wait though because of the extra stuff they tend to add for the "international" release.

Did the twitter thing kinda hope its a avatar reward but a premium theme would be cool too.

Also the theme songs never really mean much to me, I tend to be ready to jump right in the game then think about the intro music playing. The only time I might hear it will be during the commercial airing. Kingdom Hearts was the only time I really heard a game theme song often.

Was going to get this on my birthday because i thought it was going to release in April. Guess ill have to buy sooner.

I didnt see FFX-2 in the background with all the games? :lol

Is this one of those "IF YOU DONT DO IT FOR A LIVING THEN YOU CAN'T CRITICIZE IT" posts? (Also known as: "If you're so good why don't you do it better!")

I don't make games for a living, yet I criticize shitty games. I don't make movies for a living, yet I shit all over horrible movies. I don't write books, but I've been known to tear apart the pages of particularly awful ones.

And I'm sure you have participated in criticizing a wide variety of things for which you have no inherent talents or career connection.

Dumb post is dumb, in other words.

Have you been trained, classically, for 10 years by a famous vocal coach? HAVE YOU AMIROX?

I'm with Ami on this one. I warmed up to the Japanese song because it's what I've come to expect from FF love songs, but this is a whole new breed of ass. Hopefully its appearance in the game is at the absolute bare minimum (as in, AFTER the credits, and you can press a button to skip it and return to the title screen).

But no, I believe the real problem I have with it is that there is no theme. There's no melody to latch on to. I'm a sucker for love stories and what always helps them is a stirring musical theme that plays during specific moments. If these moments aren't backed by a wonderful emotional theme, then it hurts it, especially if a song plays that has no melodic integrity-- which it doesn't. That's a big problem. I'm just hoping that Hamauzu has some really good emotional themes lined up for this, instead of this putrid song.

And that Lost Odyssey song isn't the worst thing ever, but like so many other songs in videogames, the vocal work veers too far away from the instrumentation. The theme there is alright, but the vocals suck.

I also have a pet peeve with love songs using the same exact fucking snare drum taps. When I was in band in high school, our percussion douchebags would always shit up what we were playing with those very same snare drum beats and I was always like FUCKING STOP

Part of me is laughing hysterically at all these people really upset that it's not some obscure J-pop singer to fawn over.

Part of me is crying inside.

I actually kind of agree with this.

Though I wish we wouldn't have to settle between "ass that fits the game" and "ass that doesn't". :/

I wonder who they will get to do a song for Versus, at this rate it could be Girls Aloud or Take That. This is one of the reasons i prefer wrpgs more now, they are not as embarrissing to play in front of other people.

It doesn't matter, really, who actually sings it. There has to be a strong, memorable theme and equally strong instrumentation before it even has a fighting chance of being good. If the actual music sucks, it sucks. Vocal quality can only go so far.

Please, stop it.

I said I was over the song BS, but I'm not. LOL That is one of the most flabbergasting news regarding this game to me since FFXIII went multi-plat.

"My Hands" is Leona Lewis' lead singe from her upcoming album "Echo", under J Records, subsidiary of Sony BMG. It's not even a "random song" they picked up from her CD. It's the song they choose to promote her everywhere (it was also used in TV advertising for the movie "Precious").

Any attempt to try and find any meaning on the song regarding the game is nothing but grasping at straws. This is merely a cross-promotion move by Sony. Specifically SCEE and her label, to me, which is further evidenced by the fact SCEA took hours to even update anything about the game. Also, while Leona Lewis had relative success in NA with her last album, this specific song "My Hands" hasn't been well received in America and it flopped on the radio -- because of how boring it is.

It's not even like when Linkin Park recorded "New Divide" specifically for Transformers (or "My Heart Will Go On" for Titanic). This is so blatantly a ridiculous marketing scheme that I don't even... Worst, I don't see how that will benefit Leona Lewis or the Final Fantasy brand at all.

Sony must be so involved in this game what with this and having Blu-rays on it that I fathom what Microsoft had to
pay
do to get it on the 360.

This was my meaningless, senseless japanophile fanboy internet rant.

Fingers crossed for Dizzee Rascal.

OK guys this is it
I am going to boycott the english version of this game and start learning japanese so I can play this game like how it's meant to be played!!!
