They should have done what Shadow Hearts did and put in a total damage sidebar which counts up the total damage as it's being done. SH had similar fast multi hit moves but there's never a question of total damage.

This is going to be by far the toughest game to dodge spoilers for if you aren't getting the Japanese release .:lol

It has one of the most interesting FF stories in a long time to boot

Uh, I have a few questions about the battle system:

1)TP abilities are your "special" abilities right?

2)The "break mode" for enemies in battles is when they're in critical condition?

3)There's no way to see how much a single/combo attack did(like a red Total Damage number) outside of looking at an enemies' health bar afterwards?

Has the Famitsu score been confirmed yet? It isnt the be all and end all but im interested all the same.

Any word on what the trophys will be like seeing as things are getting leaked now?

You won't believe all that I was able to fit in one post.
Yeah, get it ready! I was going to made the FFXIII thread just like the official MGS4 one. After I finished, I wanted to start that thread and I just noticed I can't make any threads just yet.
So I deleted all the work... j/k :D.

Lol. Dengeki has 50 pages of shit on the game. Starter's guide, etc. Oh and you can see the 3 Amano illustrations in the top right there. The first one shows the entire party (butt ugly), the second one is Serah and Snow watching the fireworks, and the last one is Lightning in "that room".

Do you know what happened to the last poster who kept making sexual jokes and comments on FF threads?

Just please don't get me confused with him.
Our names are quite similar, heh.

Snow.

I so would.

This game looks more and more amazing every time i see it... and i see it every day at the minute.

March might as well be eons away.

All three of those usually. Difficulty depends on the content of the game itself of course.

It helps that the majority of the dialogue is voiced (don't forget to turn on subs). However, my eyes always start to glaze over whenever military talk starts up (the hardest part for me in FFVIII).

Not sure if you're into stuff like this, but I'm not certain if the Japanese language version (disambiguation from Japan version) comes with the code for the FF14 item or what not that the Japan version is supposed to come with.

I don't play MMOs. Is there any other difference? I saw two versions on Play Asia but didn't really see anything different between them other then price.

Japanese only manual vs Chinese only (though I've heard people mentioned cheap English manuals included in addition) manual...that's about it.

Yes asian version sometimes contains an chinese/english insert explaining the basic commands. My PS2 copy of TOR had one and the english was pretty good :D . But like duckroll said earlier unless you really want the CERO tag on the box you're better of with the asian version since it's usually cheaper (a way to beat the Square-Enix tax?). Sadly this time I'm going to go with the ''My Hands'' edition.

Also anyone got their xbox live chocobo yet? We're supposed to get it in december.

I hope the characters available in your party don't only consist of those 7. Would like to pe pleasently surprised somewhere else in the game in that regard.

Or at least have a parallel side story like in FFVIII with those 3 soldiers.

I dunno...owning a game with majority chinese text on it makes me feel like i own a bootleg or pirated copy (even though they aren't)....no offense to anyone.

add to that, I can read Japanese...I can't read chinese :P

I'm pretty sure the text is in Japanese for the asian release hence why it ships with an english/chinese insert :D .

I got an asian release on accident for a game a few years ago and it had a chinese manual :P I don't know if that's the norm or not, though for a major release like FF13, I would think they'd have a translated manual...granted this is just speculation...

The majority of Asian versions stll have the original Japanese manual included, with a Chinese/English insert only. It's rare that they do full localized manuals.

So basically you are just paying for the Cero logo.

I like paying for the Cero logo so there.

I was going to say stuff about that other stuff you said but I don't care anymore, eh.

EDIT: Notso much with paying for the Cero logo, but nowadays with DLC, it makes things easier just in case.

FFXIII's GDC lecture description:

This presentation will give an overview of FINAL FANTASY XIII's character motion-controlled automatic sound triggering system. New techniques will be introduced for creating sound effects that automatically trigger in response to the angles and velocities of characters as well as collision detection algorithms assigned to every terrain in the game environment. The automatic sound triggering system excels at calculating physics and creating real-time responses to player input. By introducing this system, Square Enix was able to minimize the time-consuming process of manual sound design and considerably cut costs. Examples from FINAL FANTASY XIII will be shown to demonstrate the script-controlled audio system and other practical sound design solutions developed over the course of the project.

Sounds like the game's going to have some pretty awesome ambient sound design, I think.

Duck, where did you see that the picture of lightning would be important in any way? Or are you just talking the smicksmack. It's hard to tell in this thread these days.

Also Kagari, will the thread you make be spoiler free?!?
