Did S-E stack SO4? If they didn't, they won't stack FFXIII. If they did, they'll probably stack FFXIII.

Asian SO4 has the super nice case but as I recall, the other releases weren't nice.

4 dvds? is that confirmed?

NA release was 3 discs stacked. i had to hunt around to buy a nicer dvd case.

Asian/Japan anything is not something we can use to compare. My Japanese LO and my Asian BD had really nice cases too. :P

Then I don't see S-E bothering with a better case for the US. I mean, it could happen, but it sounds unlikely. Sorry you guys have to live with retarded decisions like this. :(

pfft fuck that. i'll just keep my ps3 preorder and cancel the 360 one and buy it on the cheap later on down the line.

but can someone answer my question about how discs the 360 ver will have? last i read they were aiming for 3.

We don't know. They have not given a definite number even up to now.

They should copy this one:

Asian LO was the best thing ever :)

The game is larger than 25GB on the PS3, but they will be compressing video and sound on the 360. 360 discs can only hit 7GB due to system files, so anything larger than 21GB (which has to include repeating assets) will require 4 discs.

I seriously doubt they will go for 4 discs. Doesn't Microsoft take extra fees for games going over 3 discs?

Fees are charged per disc iirc(even 2 will incur an extra fee) which is apparently why Namco went with 1 for Tales, but I think MS may make an exception for Final Fantasy..

So will the game be on a 50Gb Dual-layer BD?

With the compression that they've already confirmed for 360, I'm leaning towards 3 discs. It'll be a close cut though, cos some gamedata will have to be on all of the discs, so it isn't simple to guesstimate.

The demo for FFXII convinced me it was going to be the most horrible game in the world. A dire, dire thing.

It's actually my favourite Final Fantasy.
Heh, I actually didn't like the demo. And lo and behold! I didn't like the game either!

There are clearly ppl who like demos. Not sure why some of you would rather us not have them. No one forces you to play them.

A lot depends on how much they're using the second layer in the PS3 version and how much space is used by videos and things that can be heavily compressed.
An other challenge is that it's difficult to keep the game on three discs if they don't want people to switch back discs as they progress through the story depeding on where they decide to go.
They have to repeat a lot of datas onto different discs.

Why are people shitting on RPG demos? The FFVIII and X demos were godly.

It's a really hard genre to demo, it's easy to give a bad impression about the game (bad story, unintesting characters and bad combat system).

It'll come on two discs. All first printings will come with a code to DL the rest of the game.

I miss the swag that stores give out with regular edition preorders in Japan. If they had a chocobo chick plushee with preorders, I would go back to Japan just to get it. :P

The foreground they use, not just the grass, always looks weird. The background and character models look awesome. I hope battles play out so fast that I wont notice the foreground.

Anyway, what is that Auto-Battle? Is it like in Enchanted Arms where the computer will do what it feels is right?

Man, the fact that missions are what you use to upgrade your weapons worries me a bit. I really hope it doesn't turn into the upgrade system from FF8.

(are they confirmed to be the ONLY way to get new weapons?)

That...sounds awesome. For me. I always wanted to see that system return in a FF title.

We know MSFT charges for extra DVDs, but does Sony charge for BD-50?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was 4 DVDs stacked, but hopefully they have a page inside like the ODST case so it's not 4 stacked in 1 spot.

That said, I'm getting the PS3 version becasue it'll probably have nicer cutscene IQ or something.

Those in-game screens look good but I agree that they aren't much better than Lost Odyssey in graphics. Character design and character models do look noticeably better though.

Is that a crabcore monster?

Holy hell what is up with that grass?? Even Crystal Bearers on the Wii has better grass then that! o_O

Still getting the game obviously, still anticipating it immensely (though the game is coming out on my Mom's birthday, so I'm obviously getting it the day AFTER that.), but I ain't gonna lie that's all sorts or ugly.

Demos for RPGs don't work. They should just release a killer trailer and continue to rely on the Final Fantasy branding to do it's magic.

FF7 demo sold me on the game so no. Demos work for any genre, It just needs to be made right.

The game doesn't look bad by any means, but that shot of Snow and Lightning looks significantly worse than some of the other captures of them. Unless some of the realtime cutscenes are using different models...

FFX is pretty infamous for using different models in different situations, so it wouldn't be unprecedented...

I doubt it. It's not so much that MS charge for extra DVDs, but rather they grant a license per DVD, so essentially SE would be licensing multiple 360 softwares which just happen to form one game.

As a BD-50 would still be seen as one PS3 disc, with the dual layer being on manufacturing side, then it would be covered by the same license as single layered discs.

Of course, I'm only surmising here and could be well off the mark.

I love incredibly-crisp-thanks-to-HD battle screen text. It's glorious.
This x1000.

Going back and playing old RPGs is a pain for me. Not because of the in game graphics, but because the text is so damn blurry.

Usually not too bothered about graphics but God that ground texture is distracting, so ugly compared to everything else in the game.

Agreed, it literally looks like current-gen character models standing on last-gen ground texture. At least the subtle dof helps it a bit.

Nothing that'll distract me when I'll be playing the game but hey, this is GAF so it's worth bringing up.

When I hear the main battle theme I think to myself, "Man, this is old music from a previous game!" Then I realize I have just followed this game's development for way too long.
