The faceplate is on ebay... sold for ~200$.

It's as expensive as the 360 Arcade and the Wii? :lol

Someone already mentioned that
any weapon can essentially be turned into the character's ultimate weapon, so there's no point for there to be a dungeon like that
Yes, but FF13 has probably the weirdest way of dealing with ultimate weapons in any Final Fantasy game ever (in that they're just a third tier of weapon development and essentially there are six different versions for each character). I was thinking that a bonus dungeon could contain a fourth tier of weapon development with only one weapon per character, or a way of obtaining multiple Grow Eggs (double CP), or something, since Feeb said that it contained the strongest equipment. It could just be a dungeon making it much easier to upgrade weapons quickly, though.

Any additional playable content will generally be accompanied by additional RPG elements/things to earn, one would think. Look at FFX-2 International's four-headed snake ultra-boss - very tough, but also capable of dropping multiple Iron Dukes (was that the accessory's name?) so you could power up your characters and then grind up your creatures with them instead of having to do one long playthrough per Iron Duke.

I am sorry if this has been posted already:
FFXIII Slightly Worse on Xbox 360
http://www.nowgamer.com/news/2526/ffxiii-significantly-poorer-on-xbox
# While facial detail appears largely unchanged, the characters' clothes appear at first glance to be lacking finer details, with notably lower resolution textures.
# Incidental environmental objects and enemies appear less detailed, both in texture and geometry.
# The game's CG is extremely compressed and pales alongside the stunning HD goodness which blu-ray offers
I don't know how credible this guy is so DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!(please)

Just been told the review Embargo date for online press. it's not the day before release as previously reported.
Good, hopefully that means we can get the comparisons out of the way before the game comes out and there'll be room for everyone to discuss the actual game once it's in my hands :D

I'm trying to find out if I can openly say the embargo... if I can, I'll post it.

Also - RE that article above, I point again to my Xbox 360 version impressions. I've spent some 60 hours with the JP release and I would say outside of the video content the difference is little to nothing. I honestly believe people's minds invent things.

Lol I'd just buy the 360 bundle and sell of the old xbox. O-o Or w8, it's pretty much impossible to sell those things for a decent price.

why would someone want to spend $200 on a faceplate... my goodness even if im super rich i would never do buy it that much.

Thank goodness there's a separate thread for comparison...I can only imagine the hellhole it's gonna be.

I guess there's a thread that I'm going to avoid joining in
and just look!

Grow Egg, and Genji Gauntlet, appear to be universal. Genji Gauntlet doesn't even need to be equipped on a battle member. There's also no point to having a special dungeon where you can grind rare weapon mats, because Pulse is already where you grind -the big- rare weapon mat that's otherwise more expensive than everything you've owned in the game until then combined.

It would have to be either fourth-tier (I guess maaaaybe, Save the Queen was always a B-tier endgame sword) or a thinly-disguised Namco-style loot haul.

Wow. XD

I could maybe understand if it was exclusive Nomura art like the advertisment made it sound, but $200 for a faceplate that anybody could easily replicate? Wow.

Yeah, not worth it. I have a high resolution version of that image I could make into a faceplate for much cheaper.

Right, it'd have to be either
a dungeon where enemies just shower rare loot on you to speed up your upgrades by an order of magnitude, or there'd have to be some sort of fourth-tier upgrade, or both - maybe a single ultimate weapon requiring something absurd like having all six ultimate weapons maxed out for each character for a total of 36, ugh.

I didn't know that about how Grow Egg and Genji Gauntlet work, thanks - thought they only applied to one character.

How do summons level up?

I was watching giantbomb's ask me anything video and it hit me that the summons in 13 act a lot like the summons in 12 (fight with the character while replacing the other 2)

This was by far my least favorite part of 12 because, since the summons didn't level up, they were super weak and it was a pain to get their big attack off before they died

So I assume this is fixed in 13. Can the summons level up? Do you have control over it or is it just tied to the character?

No leveling up, no control until they transform. Their strength depends on the drive meter which you need to boost each time you do a summon.

They don't seem like an asshole gaming site that likes to stir up controversy for the sake of hits like the millions of shitty blogs that get featured on the gaming cess pool that's N4G. For the most part, they seemed credible enough, but the only way things are going to get settled is just through a side-by-side comparison. I'm still getting the 360 version regardless. So what, the game has slightly worse graphics. That didn't stop the PS2 last-gen, shouldn't affect the 360 either.

I've been playing FFX lately and I noticed its an extremly linear game until you get to the calm lands towards the end of the game. At that point your able to find a few hidden dungeons and do some side quests. Is FF XIII like that?

I don't think linearity is a bad thing if the plot is good. IMO FFX was so good exactly because I didn't have to spend hours trying to figure out what to do next :D

ps: Is there any site guaranteeing the faceplates for preorders? I'd like to sell some to some suckers on Ebay :lol

And you're part of the problem.

My preview was based off seeing both side-by-side. FMV aside, there's little difference.

so......US Collector's Edition?

Is this happening? or is there a possibility of it happening. Seems they would announce something shortly with the game coming out in 3 weeks.
