Can't wait for the PS3 version of this. This is probably going to squeeze several extra years out of my PS3 just like FFXI did for my PS2.

I hope they release it on 360 too, would probably add a lot of extra players.
 
Looks fantastic! I really think they're going to save/salvage FFXIV!

I'm still thinking they may change the name to FFXV to disassociate the game from its bad reputation. It worked for Microsoft (Vista --> Win7).
 
Looks great, when does 2.0 come out?
I really would love to get back into the FF-MMO vein but am frankly scared after all I've heard of FFXIV

Its going to be called FFXIV: A Realm Reborn. Bet on it. (They trademarked the name 2 months ago and registered domain names for it for .com and .net, its also the final line in the legacy campaign they started in April as well).
 
Looks good, but the desert shots make me worried that the maps haven't changed enough. They're a major weak point right now.

I thought the maps were actually pretty good (from what I saw of them, granted I only ever leveled to a 10 archer :p )

Thank goodness! Londa Gaf will live again in 2.0! Are they keeping the same classes or is everything being redone? I only leveled Lancer and Thamaturge a smallish amount and then got frustrated with the game

I've been playing Xenoblade lately... these games are basically cut from the same cloth. Shockingly similar combat (or at least parts of them over time. Battle regimen not in the game anymore). So not like FFXI, but it has auto attacks and TP.

Interesting. I have Xenoblade but Dolphin doesn't run great on my computer so its been gathering dust. I guess it's time to borrow a Wii and check it out.

2.0 will have LOWER system specs, not higher. It's being made to run on the PS3, you know.

Oh cool! I wasn't aware dragoons were even in the game. I only played for about two months and had a level 20ish Lancer. I miss my Dragoon from XI. Hell, just give me a class that has the "Jump" command.

Your character is still there. You'll have to reactivate the 'service' and select your character under account management.

You'll also be able to change your race in 2.0 while still keeping your name.
 
The way they're handling the job system is really cool. I didn't think anyone would ever do it better than XI did.

Oh, it's looking good. But it looking like FFXI-2 isn't bad either.

XIV is a huge letdown, but I'll be willing to try this when it comes out. (Since I payed 70$+ for the collectors) My only issue is I don't like how Square-Enix runs their MMOs.

But this is their newest MMO, and they seem to be making so many changes, I just hope it they stick with it unlike FFXI.

Jobs were added back in March. Dragoon for Lancer, White Mage for Conjuror, Black Mage for THM, Warrior for Marauder, Paladin for Gladiator, Bard for Archer, and Monk for Pugilist. They act as party specs with special abilities. You get access to the unlock quests at lvl 30, DRG gets jump right away at the lvl 30 unlock. Then after that 1 new weaponskill, another jump that sends you backwards and makes you lose enmity (Great for avoiding AOE move from bosses), 1 more heavy hitting weaponskill at lvl 45, and then 2 hourish ability (on 15 minute recast timer instead of 2 hours) that does AOE damage.
 
OMG this looks so good. Please, don't do this to me. I loved XI, probably a little bit too much. I do not have the time for an MMO like this anymore. Don't make me spend all my free time in this one.

Loooooong time ago. I think I only stuck around maybe 2-3 months total. I haven't kept up with anything since then. I knew it was free for a long time, but I never really got back into it.
 
I can say, I've been fairly bitter about FFXIV and didn't have too much faith in 2.0, but some of it has been restored. Maybe it's because E3 has been so bad, that a bit of good news seems like a lot, but I am definitely going to try this when it comes out.

I believe GAF is currently on Sargatanas. I guess I would be willing to move if they allow server transfers again. My character is currently on the server Aegis, formerly known as Figaro.
