Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn $9.99 at US Amazon (PS4/PS3/PC)

Aw did this deal end? Was thinking about getting it for the PS4.
Although I suppose it would only be redeemable on an American PSN account eh...

was like YESSS until non-Steam :/
Only upside of having it on Steam is that you can use Steam Wallet for subs and optional item purchases. You have to buy the expansions through Steam, so you can't take advantage of deals on GMG etc.

The game client does run without Steam running.

Why's it acceptable to have to buy the game even though it has a subscription? You're essentially paying for a 30-day free trial...

This applies to the digital version too.

Every 3 months you received more content all included in your sub fee. They only require another purchase when a expansion is released. FFXIV's expansion has roughly the same amount of content as the base game did when it came out. We're talking a lot of content. What you bought when the game came out, isn't the same game by the time the expansion releases.

Uh...have you never played a MMO? You've never had to buy a disc for an MMO?

Again, read the bottom bit – I'm referring to the digital version. Just because other MMOs do it, doesn't mean it's a fucking stupid idea. Like you're essentially paying to pay to play the game lol.

You can't make the argument the game Heavensword comes with new content because you have to pay a sub fee to actually enjoy the content itself...

guess I should stick with non-Steam then?

I can only guess that people who complain about subscription based MMOs have never played a subscription based MMO.

Financially, it is absolutely worth it. You save so much money spending $15/month on one game that you play 80-90% of the time.

FFXIV is designed primarily for people new to MMOs. Give it a shot.
played wow and runescape and I don't agree with the idea of sub mmos.

I do, specially when they update the game this much. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/special/patchnote_log/

They added over 30 hours of main story quest since launch of 2.0 *over 100 quest with a ton of story, voice acting, cutscenes*.

15 new 4 man dungeons

5 New primal *ff sumon monster* boss fights

5 non primal *trial* single boss fights

8 Raid level boss fights that are extremely well designed and challenging.

And most of all this content getting NEW UNIQUE MUSIC for each thing minus the Raid fights.

And that's just from the PvE side of things.

Other MMO's wish they could update this frequently with as much as this one does.

Seriously, THIS! The support they're dumping into this game is amazing.

I've played EQ, SWG, WoW, LotRO, AoC, WAR, CO, STO, TSW, GW2, FFXI, FFXIV, and many others,

There is almost always a large quality difference between a f2p game aND a subscription game. Most of the f2p games that I played originally were quickly ignored due to the sheer amount of content and resources put into the sub based games.
