Final Fantasy XIV Information Thread | PC Open Beta... yeah it's not really open.

oh god, $100 entry barrier
Why the fuck would they mention the price in the ads? It was the opposite of a selling point.

As i remeber WoW do the same.

A friend came back to the game as I was leaving, and he got pretty disheartened at how "noobified" the game got while he was gone. :lol
Heh - yeah, some of the changes made the game more accessible to noobs, but less interesting for veterans. Like, me and my friends used to have loads of fun hanging around at zones and protecting all the low-level folks from chains. Then Square made it so the chain disappears when their target is gone, suddenly those guys didn't need protection anymore.

If this is less than $15 a month then I'll probably get it.
ffxi was only like $13 a month. but how they get you was 1 extra dollar for the card game (terra master) and a dollar per each additional character you have

I never even tried Tetra Master. I have one mule, though. He's my original character. I made a Taru before I realized the error of my ways and went Galka.

There were a few FFXI NA PS2 commercials during launch...but these days i'm betting it'll have a full on commercial blitz like Dissidia. Dont think i've ever seen an FF commercial that many times on TV.

Honestly, here on the east coast, the most ads I've seen for a FF is still 6. :lol

I stuck with a lovely taru til some one hacked my account, and SE banned. After that i'm stuck with a friend Mithra :(

I was waiting for this!

As I understand it, Sony ran those commercials, not Square.

Since no one has posted it yet, I'll go ahead and say that Famitsu clarifies that the "campaign code" has nothing to do with a FFXIV beta. It's simply a code which will eventually grant you a "secret item" inside FFXIV itself. If anything, this indicates the game is coming out a lot sooner than expected?

the secret item is probably a mog hat

A beta for the millions of people who were going to buy FFXIII seemed unlikely anyways. I doubt they want that many testers, especially with all of them being from one region (japan).

I don't think FFXIII is going to sell "millions" in Japan for the first pressing. :P

I could see them manufacturing at least a million for launch. Massive amounts of people bought PS3's just for the FFXIII *demo*.

Well that saves me $60! Thanks man.

Basicaly.

Ingame item for FFXIV (TBA).

Damn, they're getting a little ahead of themselves, aren't they? Giving out in-game items for a game that hasn't even been beta'ed yet?

I bet the item is a transforming Shiva lesbocycle.

Wow Gladiator and Puglist stuff look great :D Actually looks like a real monk now.

Man all the classes look cool, no wonder they are making it easier to change professions.

EDIT: The item will probably be an accessory or something (which I guess isnt too bad since they're trying to make accessories visible). Cant see S-E doing something like Sega...a cameo weapon or armor.

Official website has been updated with new disciple of war info.

EDIT: You can attach blades to your shield if its "mechanical"? Nice.

If there's one thing you can say about SE, it's that they know how to make some cool looking gear-sets. Let's just hope they put out more then a few so everyone doesn't look like clones end game ala FFXI.

Shield-swords? Gun-blades? :lol

btw OT... apparently somebody hacked into my ffxi account, even though I only played for one month, and that was several months ago. just noticed i was getting billed for it. :/

Get your info together and contact the Square-Enix support center. Get your account back and/or tell them to stop billing you. If not, have the bank do something if SE won't

Ouch that sucks dude, sorry to hear. Fix it asap!

I already did. They said they're gonna suspend the account and refund what I was charged. I guess I should have asked to reset the password while I was at it, in case I ever want to use it in the future. But really I don't think I'm ever going to get back into FFXI anyways, especially with FFXIV seemingly around the corner.

It's just weird that I onlyjust activated the account earlier this year, barely played it, then it gets compromised many months later. When I first saw the bill, I assumed it was SE trying to tack on some fees. When I called they told me somebody had been playing just recently the last few months.

I hate spanish info.

Lucky me i can read japanese.

Traslated from a spanish magazine.

"Campaing code for FFXIV is an offline demo of the game".

I can't stop :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Man, I can't even express how incredibly excited I am for this. And to have it coming in 2010...such joy! It's enough incentive to keep me from going back to XI one...more...time. :lol

I need to stop reading this thread. I'm dying for this game to come out but I had accepted I wouldn't see it until at least this time next year. All this hopeful talk of it coming out sooner isn't good for me.

No final decision made yet on payment structure for FFXIV, but says the base system will be a carbon-copy of FFXI's. Universal servers as well.

What an abomination. :lol

How would you even use that? Also beta has to be pretty close if they've already revealed this much info...right? Alot faster than the initial info on FFXI was revealed for sure.

Speaking of accounts being hacked, get an authenticator they are cheap and do the job, FF11 ones are kind of hard to get hold of but will work with FF14 supposedly.

The hype for this is making me want to try FFXI again. I only played XI for a bit because it was a little heavy for me, and it was hard to get into parties. Have recent updates made it more single player friendly at all?

Somewhat. Fields of valor helps out, and level sync lets everyone party with everyone, regardless of level.
