Dreamwriter said:I'm not really liking that battle song. It doesn't sound like Final Fantasy, it sounds like it came from some cheap low-quality RPG. Hopefully it's only the battle music for newb areas or something.
I'm just saying, apart from the length and the quality, I like the composition of songs like this MUCH better: FFXI first dungeon combat music The XIV battle song we got, I could imagine that being the boss music from some game called "Legend of the Quest: Final Tale" or something.Kagari said:There is no hope for you!
- You say a Miner can bring "additional income" to the party. Does this mean a single Miner will benefit all members?
A: Yes, that's right. It will add to the treasure pool, and we are still discussing this, but we want to make it so more Miners increases the benefits. However, the trade-off is that battles will be more difficult.
CHARACTER CREATION
- Will players be able to choose between different tribes, such at the Miq'ote with Sunseekers and Moonseekers?
A: In the beta test, you will be able to choose between a limited number of tribes.
- What kind of characteristics will different tribes have? Will it be something like Sunseekers having brownish skin, but Moonseekers, being nocturnal, having whiter skin tones to select from?
A: Yes, like that. But more than just skin tones, there will be a theme or style distinct to each tribe, and from within that you will also have a wide variety of skin tones to select from.
- Will that level of customization in character creation be available in the beta test?
A: There will be a limited number of faces and hair styles to choose and beyond that, only hair, skin and eye colors will be selectable. More detailed changes to the face will not be available yet.

Dengeki said:It seems most classes have some kind of ranged attack, but will Gladiators get one?
A: We're considering a way for Gladiators to throw their sword.

a sample, way to long to post.
:lol- It seems most classes have some kind of ranged attack, but will Gladiators get one?
A: We're considering a way for Gladiators to throw their sword.
- Can Archers make arrows by themselves?
A: Only Disciples of the Hand will be able to make arrows. However, in the future, by putting abilities from a Disciple of the Hand on an Archer, they could attain some limited crafting ability.
To me it sounded more like, if you have so much training in such-and-such class it will unlock a sub-ability for another or any other that isn't that class. Eg. You are a Master blacksmith so now you might be able to craft arrows when you are an archer.eggandI said:Cross class abilities confirmed. It looks like you can actually PICK which ones you want. Awesome![]()

If its pre-set then that leaves less room for someone to make a broken combo. Better and easier for everyone that way.eggandI said:I was thinking more along the lines of FFT but yeah you are right it probably is like that.

agreed! I wasn't sure if the tribes would be a lore thing or a full blown thing in the game. Love it!eggandI said:Wow this is sounding real good. I knew that they were hinting at selectable tribes a while ago. A

eggandI said:Have they mentioned if they are going to keep the LS system or something similar? that is one aspect of FFXI that is far above a lot of other MMOs I've played. You can be part of many linkshells.

SuperAngelo64 said:Well I think we have good reason to. Change is good, but this is really out of left field. I can't really complain personally since Marauder is new and sounds right up my alley.
Magic, however, seems completely unrepresented. Where is the summoning? The Blue magic? I don't even see any mention of healing/white magic which is essential to every RPG.
On a sidenote, am I the only one who thinks it would sound better if the battle loop started at 1:44 of that mp3?
Jinko said:Granted there are no pet jobs which is a bit odd but they may surprise us there later on.
Blue Magic was non existent in FF11 for 5 years or more anyway, and Thaumaturge has the ability to steal beneficial magic.
Conjurer is basically a rdm mage where you can specialise in a specific magic class, be a healer or a fire mage or a water mage the choice is yours.

eggandI said:If the job would be like the SMN at all I'd rather they not include it at all. There needs to be something that sets SMNs apart or it'll just become a gimped WHM that few people used like in FFXI.
Jinko said:Yea agree with that, in an interview they said that summons in FF14 are basically god-like, so the chances of them being playable is unlikely, the story will no doubt involve them though.
Q:When you think Final Fantasy, you think summons, so...
A:They'll make an appearance. However, they take on a role closer to that of being gods. There will be more than a few hurdles to get over before you can secure their aid.

I'm going to assume that shot above is CGI and not in-game as it looks way too amazing?Munba said:Dunno if already mentioned but..
