I got in as well, but the patcher is slow as hell, and the FFXIVcore's install-guide is botched ( why use something like mediafire for all the files? It's slow, too ). :/

Game runs like shit for me in any area where there are more than 10 other PCs...which is pretty much everywhere. Radeon 5770, Athlon X4, 4 gigs of RAM, etc. I know it's not the best system around, but I'm pretty surprised that my FPS on average seems to hover around 20.

Finally managed to snag a key earlier this morning. Now I just gotta wait till I get home to get the client.

So most of you guys are on Lindblum?

I've been looking forward to trying this out, despite all the negative comments.

Sounds about right for your specs.

Ugh. I hate mmo patching systems.

Why can't they just rebuild their original client with the patched data and offer that as the default download for new users?

I whizzed through the first two patches thinking this was very fast...then realised there's at least one more. Which has reached 1.1% in the last hour or so. Joy.

I thought it was getting switched? Are we sticking with it then?

It never got switched. There was a point yesterday when it was suggested because Lindblum mysteriously disappeared from the list but its back up now and people have been joining.

Use the torrents and download the patches with a bittorrent client, it's way faster.

Is there a page or post with links to the patches?

I see a link on the previous page to what seems to be a patch (D2010.09.03.2000).

Right now the updater is trying to download H2010.08.30.2000.

Thanks for any help!

If my specs were that much lower, the game would be downright unplayable, and my specs are already pretty well above the minimum system requirements. Playing this game right now reminds me of playing games I've played before with a system that was below the minimum requirements :lol

Oh well. I guess the retail version will allow a lot more tweaking for performance and such.

You can get the torrents from the folder \Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\metainfo

The patch files then go into \Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\patch

Thanks, I've dled all other patches except the big one, should I put them into respective folders and cancel the official downloader, and wait for the largest torrent to finish?

Thank you! I will give this a go :)

And just to clarify, when it comes to copying files into those files, 2001 patches come AFTER 2000 ones, right? That would make sense to me, but just wanna make sure SE doesn't have some funny convention where it's the reverse.

Actually it doesn't matter, you can just download all the latest ones, and put them in the patch folder, then the updater will pick them up in order.

From Beta site:

Character Creation Restriction on Congested Worlds

Currently, certain worlds are congested due to mass numbers of character creation process.
As a countermeasure, character creation on congested worlds will be temporarily restricted.

Up on world selection on character creation menu, an icon of Chocobo is present right next to the name of the world. The number of icon shows how congested the world is. If the number of icon is low, the world is fairly vacant. So if possible, please create the character on vacant world.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing and thank you for your understanding.

You guys should stick to the online thread, some ppl already fucked Gromph's dl speed by posting links on this one :/

Just tested the download speeds using orbit and it was going as fast as it can on my connection. Downloading with firefox is much slower..

Man, this game runs like shit. I was kind of hopeful when the intro area and movie (seems to be realtime?) ran at a very consistent 30 plus frames. Soon as the actual city loaded up though it when to the sub 15 area.

Are there any outside tweaks one can do for this game? Turning everything off/lowest possible just to achieve the same sub 15 frames is not a viable option. The same is essentially unplayable because of the software cursor.

C2D@3.2, 9800GTX+, 4GB of Ram. Not the best PC I know, but even at low settings the performance is not acceptable. I started at 1680x1050, no AA, all post processing off and shadows a medium. I lowered it to 1440x900 all settings to low, everything off in-game and it was exactly the same.

Finally got it running. Chugs a bit, but pretty nice. Feels much better than the Warhammer beta, at least

Well I was finally able to get registered for the Beta at least. I'll be downloading it, and hopefully playing it as well tonight.

Is it chugging because of your rip or due to the fact that the servers are shit right now?

I know someone else on here said they had worse settings than yours and it ran just fine for them on lowest settings.

So what's the best way to download the beta? Can't get onto the tester site at the moment for some reason. Never been in any of the closed ones so I don't have a single file on my computer right now.
