Final Fantasy XIV launches on April 14th for PS4

Yeah, getting into an MMO for the first time can be daunting, but FFXIV really is easy for newcomers. It's especially rewarding if you're a fan of Final Fantasy.

I'm confident you'll have a great time, and if you don't, it's definitely worth the risk to see for yourself. >:)
 
Question, I purchased this game on the PS3 on black friday for $10. How do I link it with my PC account. I want to know because the only reason I bought it was so that I can get the free upgrade to the PS4 version. I literally just bought it on PSN and did nothing. Didnt download it or anything.
 
What's the cheapest way for me to pick this up and be able to play it when it comes out on ps4? Can I buy a PC version and I'll get a free ps4 version or is it only ps3->ps4?

I assume you just log into your account management and register the game under your primary account tab [don't open a new "service"]. If you registered the retail game to your beta account [prior to launch], I'd imagine it's exactly like that.

I haven't done it personally, though, so maybe someone else can say for sure.

This is how I thought it would work but I wasn't given any key or anything. How do I link the account without some sort of key?

No CD Key? Well that is weird.

Maybe it's as simple as putting the disc in your PS3, installing the client, and when attempting to "sign in" use your current account information? As I said, I don't have the PS3 version linked unfortunately, so I can't say for sure what the method is.

It definitely doesn't work as I thought it would, though. I expected there to be a CD Key of some sort. :/
 
I just picked this up from the PSN store, and man that title music is amazing. I haven't even played yet, just letting the music cycle.

Well I bought it off PSN so maybe I have to set up the account when I download the game? Problem is I only bought it for when I can play it on PS4.
 
Sweet, will upgrade from PS3 and re-establish my account. Put an insane amount of time into this for the freebie month and really enjoyed it. Held off subbing until the PS4 version launched(the many content and patch fixes were a good reason to hold off as well).

Should work great with the DS4 and touchpad too.
 
Amazon has this listed as $39.99 for PS4. Is that accurate? If so, I think it should be in the thread title. That makes me quite a bit more likely to get it, personally.
 
I love what I'm seeing from the first half of patch 2.2 and I can't wait to see what else is in store for the second half of the preview. (What is it, realistically, can they show off that they haven't already?)

I'm REALLY looking forward to 2.3 though. If the Golden Saucer is still planned for that patch it'll be great. I don't mind seeing new fights and new dungeons but that's not all the MMO should be about. I'd hoping to see maybe a new class or new zone but I imagine that kind of stuff is reserved for an expansion pack.

Unfortunately, you can't do the account linking through account management. You are required to install the ps3 client and login with your PC credentials. It will then link your PSN ID to your account.

Damn, then I guess I have to download the client then. I can still wait till the PS4 version comes out to link the accounts right?

Considering that's how much the game cost at launch for the ps3 and PC versions I'd assume that's correct.

Oh cool, I didn't realize! I haven't paid much attention to this game until recently.
 
Sweet Fat Chocobo mount, now they just need to mention an adamantoise mount and I'm golden. Leviathan fights looks great as well,ring out fights bring out the best in people :P.

I patiently kept off the PS3 version after reaching level 24 so I could revel in this through the summer.

Here is my situation. I have the ps3 version and was subbed the first two months, but haven't reupped yet.

I have a question. I know that I will be able to get the ps4 copy for free, but will I still be able to receive the free items (fat choco, and moogle) when I reup my sub with when I get my ps4 copy or will I have to be subbed prior to getting the ps4 copy to get the free items.

Yeah I saw. It looks awesome. Heading to Tokyo in May so I'm gonna have to pick that up. I should be able to register any bonuses or free sub time on my US account right seeing as how the dalamud minion code from the JP soundtrack worked?
 
Sooooo, a couple of questions about this.

1) The current version on special on PSN comes with 30 days subscription. Can I buy the PS3 version, upgrade for free to PS4 and then use the 30 days free? Or do I have to use the 30 days right away?

2) Does anyone know the subscription costs in Australia? Apparently the only one I can find is EB games selling 2 months for $40 which is a bit expensive for my liking. Does anyone know of any other options available to me?
 
Waiting patiently for the PS4 beta. I have it for PS3 but my PS3 died. :(
