Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood |OT| Y'all Need to Calm Down

I dunno because Yugiri wasn't really elaborated on which makes me glad she's a main character in Stormblood. None were strong to me except maybe Ysayle? Y'shtola is pretty weak and the SB trailer may point to her
getting weaker/dead
and so is Yda. As
Lyse she will be a different story for sure. I'm really looking forward to her arc and I hope she isn't killed off.
Allisae had one badass scene in HW but it didn't make me go wow. Ysayle was the one I could really connect with and recognize her cause though.
With the exception of maybe Alph I think Yshtola has the best track record out of all the Scions, and those are pretty much the characters with the most screen time beside yourself. Yda may be in the running too before we know it. Then there's plenty of side characters like Rowena too. I definitely agree that we could see more of a lot of them and probably should (GC leaders are probably my biggest gripe). I don't think they have been amazing with a true standout Oscar or anything, but certainly more than fair about giving screen time to females and males alike.

I made it to level 49 this morning before work, only have a few hours tonight after work to get to 50 since servers will be down all of Thursday!

Then I can continue on Friday as Red Mage oh yeah!

Or should I keep playing as Bard, hmm...

Also contemplating to buy the potion that skips your past the story and gets you caught up to Stormblood. I'm basically almost done with ARR, so I would just be skipping Heavansward expansion. I'm sure there's a YouTube compilation I can watch to get me up to speed during the server downtime.
If I was you, I would rather buy the lvl 60 potion, that actually the story potion. With the story potion, you will still need to grind all these levels, which is shorter than actually running all the main quests, but also way more boring.

You can enjoy HW main plot, which is quite good, at your leisure since you already have your character at 60 and just need to focus on main story quests.

But hey, that just me and my 2 cents.

What did I miss in HW by being a MCH? ;;
Estinien is part of the DRG job quests.

So he kinda already gets some development before he becomes a key character in HW.

^ This is the ideal way to do it imo

Great OT again but I'd add in the section stating what you need to acquire the SAM and RDM jobs that you also need to finish all of the MSQ for ARR to get to the area where you pick up the jobs.

Hmm maybe I should just wait and buy the potion to shoot to 60 and then I can play the rest of the MSQ's all the way to SB without ever hitting a stupid lvl wall again! No more level grinding before SB, glorious! Does one potion take you straight to 60? Or does one do 10 so the amount will vary base on what level you're at? Also, how much per potion? I want to say I read 20 or 25 bucks somewhere a little while back.

Wait, do the servers go down 2am tonight? I was thinking it was 2am tomorrow night...damn. Would have been perfect if it was the latter since I'm headed out of town Friday anyway.

I feel like Yotsuyu will be a disappointing character. SE can't do any strong females at all lately.
Uh, this is the fucking game with Y'shtola, Alisaie, Yda/Lyse, and Krile just in the Scions?

Also do you not remember the main lady of HW, Ysayle?

Or any other of the metric fuckton of good female characters XIV has?

What an ignorant, bizarre comment that complete ignores this teams track record

And let's not forget Merlwyb, the best, da kween.

is this an LB3?

I mentioned above that Ysayle is very strong to me....... and that i'm looking forward to
Lyse
lol

Merlwyb was super impressive when we were taking care of the Leviathan situation, shooting Sahagin left and right with no pause to defend her home.

Maybe the MSQ can leave Ul'dah's politics for a while and do stuff in Limsa in the far future for me to meet her again.

Maybe if she did more i'd like her. Kan is easily the best GC leader, imo but even then I feel she's hidden away unless she's giving a speech or something.
All 3 GC leaders role has been disminishing since 2.x, that's normal, since expansions focus on the new areas and builds the story around them, with the other 3 nations taking a seatback (even the whole Uldah subplot, was resolved quite swiftly in 3.0)

Going from 50-60 would take longer than doing all the post 2.0 MSQs up to Stormblood? I heard that's a ton of MSQs to get through, in the other thread

Oh never mind I just saw where you said it is faster but more boring gotcha gotcha

If we are getting all that out I can say I am psyched we are finally getting a Roegadyn as part of the main cast
that hopefully won't get Moebryna'd by 4.2
. So many people forgot what Roes look like the dev team needed to clarify that Gosestu was in fact Roe ☹

Not longer, but surely more tedious. There's a ton of MSQ, but with level 60 you skip the leveling needed betwen MSQ, so that's some time saving, but I guess is a matter of preference.

Personally, I would rather spend time enjoying the MSQ of HW, that grinding PoTD or whatever for hours and hours.

Of course, right before early access, my controller stops working. I can't get it to work in game at all. I checked it in Devices and Printers and all the buttons will work, but I can't get it to do anything in game.

Make sure it's enabled in game in the options menu.

I joined for Erin Brockovich discussion
Far as I know, with my account page showing a circle under stormblood early access, I should be golden.

1st World queue message I've gotten since....maybe the 1st day of HW, maybe console release of ARR.

she holds sway over like the entire west coast of Eorzea....Either way, you might as well just take back your statement.

Up until Aymeric showed up, women held the highest power in 2/3rds of Eorzea, 3/3 if you choose to count Nanamo. (you shouldn't) Heavensward had no shortage at all of important females to choose from.

Just about the only society shown that doesn't clearly have its power balanced by women is Garlemald :D

Hey, Hoary Boulder was always waiting for me in the Rising Stones with his love stories.
nothing better not happen to Boulder

With Yda likely going all serious mode for the rest of the story, i'm running out of NPCs to laugh at

Wanted to get both AST and DRK to 60 before SB but only managed to get both in their 50s. Oh well. I can push the rest of the way while doing story content with my DRG. Did manage to cap my tomes and I'm gonna do Warring Triad before servers go down tonight I think so I'm all prepped and really excited to jump in.

I really have no time to play anytime soon as I'm moving across the country this month, but I might try to sneak a little time in this weekend.

Still need to finish the most recent HW patch.

Not necessarily stormblood related, but a few quick questions about things I never really figured out last time I was playing, figure might as well learn now getting back in for the expansion and the gaming community thread was closed:

1. Do I want to wait until DoTs fall off before re-applying to avoid losing the last tick or does it not matter? I've played WoW for a long time, and originally you wanted to wait but now it doesn't matter, not sure what it is here.

2. Is there an easier way to track your own DoTs on a target? Even with "only show own" checked, sometimes it is hard to tell in the sea of random debuffs on a target, and I've heard people say that in large groups/raids there is a debuff limit and sometimes yours don't show up at all.

Was levelling up my arcanist in prep for stormblood not requiring other classes at 15 to get the jobs, trying to be better at a DoT class.

Resubbed for the first time since finishing 3.0 MSQ last week, been working through the patch content. Few more quests to go and ill be ready for the new stuff.

Been away for a while, but it's good to be back. Typically I moved from Ultros to Gilgamesh when I last played to play with friends, but now they've quit playing and I'm stuck with no friends and no FC :( I might transfer back to join the GAF FC, but we'll see.

man I wish I had the time to play this, it would talk me until the end of the year to go from arr to sb
Yeah it took me over a week and playing a ton, just to get through ARR. And I wont actually finish ARR until later tonight.

Not even counting how long it'll take to from 2.0 and all the patch content and then Heavansward and then post Heavansward patch content MSQs to catch up to Stormblood.

ARR was a slog though, I was so close to quitting. It's all fetch and delivery quests, just terrible. But GAF assured me it gets much better after ARR. And I'm hoping Stormblood improves on that even more.

The good news is you can skip ARR with a story skip potion.
yeh I know, but the thing is I havnt played this at all, if I skipped everything I'd have no idea about whats going on or the mechanics of the game etc maybe I'm wrong?

Is a couple hours a night enough to sorta get through? or is it more of a hardcore time sink thing?

I hope they revamp some of the 2.0 through 2.2 stuff at some point. There really is a load of filler they could trim out, and I worry that stuff is keeping a not-insignificant number of people from getting into the game.

I remember playing when it first released with a friend and one of the reasons I stopped apart from time was that I just couldn't handle the quests, and everything just felt slow, didn't feel like I was playing a game but just sorta going through the motions

I wanna give it another chance though
