Final Fantasy XIV's soundtrack is fucking outstanding

I simply love the soundtrack to this game, I must have heard the Heavensward Trailer Theme about a hundred times. One of my favorites themes is Into The Adder's Den which is not heard much and reminds me so much of FFT that I can't get enough of it. Also it has to be said that the lyrics used on vocal themes give so much meaning to the song, like for instance in the Heavensward trailer theme the humans and the dragons have lyrics in it.

Those 2 songs when I heard them for the first time, my knees got weak, shivers down my spine
Felt like my life wouldn't be complete if I didn't listen to these 2 songs
Fell in love both songs right as they start

I'm actually a huge FF1 fan so hearing that track and just them referencing FF1 really surprised and amazed me. Amazing version of that song.

Shit, this thread is making me feel nostalgic. Almost makes me want to dust off the game and resub but I simply don't have the time for raiding which is my favorite thing to do in the game.

Some of the ARR hard mode dungeons have a BGM that's kind of tinny and synth-sounding when out of combat, but the second you enter combat it becomes bombastic and orchestrated before slipping back into the calm tune when you're finished. The weaving between tracks is phenomenal, and reminds me of nothing so much as Metal Gear Rising's groundbreaking work in background music interaction.

It's worth noting that the game has a number of MGR references in the flavor text.

Totally agree, OP. I'll listen to the music from this game even when I'm not playing it. Can't wait to see what Stormblood pulls out of its musical hat!

Oh how I wish they could somehow program a solo play mode into this game ... I quite enjoyed playing up to level 46 but having to constantly que up with random players to do legit hard quests (like story mode Garuda which is what stone walled me) annoyed me enough that I haven't gone back.

I really do love the OST too , despite it's lack of love in the thread I've got a real fondness for the Limsa Lominsa daytime theme. Get it stuck in my head constantly and pine for the days when I could just sit around and play this game for hours on end.

It's really the best final fantasy game made in the last 20 years but the stigma of being an MMO is thick so most people just haven't played it or experienced the wonderful music ... the occasional janky quests (like that one where you have to shovel corpses) and generally fun dungeons.

wow, a lot of you guys are really enthusiastic about the music in this game. i love the game and have many hours played on it, but the music always felt like really generic orchestral soundtrack arrangements to me. aside from a couple of themes, i thought they were all completely forgettable and similar to each other

I'm still really early in the game, been playing for a little over a week now. Only lvl34 or so, and doing the quests leading up to Titan. But yes. I love a lot of things about the game, but the MVP is definitely the soundtrack. Not only is there tons of music, not only is the music almost all outstanding, but what really nails it is how much of a SOUNDTRACK it is. The best JRPG soundtracks are the ones which feel like they are scored for gameplay as complements to specific areas (fields/dungeons), events (cutscenes), and situations (battles/bosses/victory/chocobo/airship). Tracks designed to loop well and to put players in the perfect state of mind to enjoy the gameplay at the time. FFXIV is probably my favorite JRPG soundtrack since Xenogears. Everything just sounds -right-. Every track makes me /psyche.

titan's bgm is easily still top 3 of ffxiv's primal boss bgm imo
enjoy :3

It is, that is why I have bought all of them, looking forward to the 3.1-3.5x soundtrack too. And part of the reason why I buy Fan Festival streams is so I can watch the concerts of these fantastic music.

The Gridania and Ul'Dah themes made me feel nostalgic the first fucking time I heard them, so so sooo sos ososososo good. Especially the night variant of Ul'Dah, just perfect MMO city music. Brings you right back to hanging out in that city years later the way it should be.

FFXIV's music is perfect.

I wish I had more reason to go to Ul'Dah to hear it. It is definitely a great track.

Came here to post this. Massively beaten it seems. Music is one thing that keeps me coming back to this game

Dragonsong always hits me in the feels. Especially when it plays with the trailer they did for Heavensward. So good.

I like how there's such a variety of styles and genres in the soundtrack e.g. the various primal themes.

Maybe it's bias because I only know ARR and not 1.0, but sometimes it feels to me like some of the 2.0 area themes / battle themes fit the locations better than the 1.0 versions.

I figure this might be a good topic for to ask something I've been wondering for a while now. But does the Heavensward title screen theme have a song name? I love that track and always wanted to download a longer version but I'm not sure if it exists.

The HW prelude is called "A Cold Wind". You might find some extended plays on youtube, but the OST version is only short.

looking forward to the next one, should have all the post-HW stuff

I'm simply amazed with how balanced the OST is with original scores and orchestral remixes of past Final Fantasy tunes.

The fact that the opening theme of Final Fantasy VI is played whenever you pilot the magitek armour brings a tear to my eye. ;_;

This thread has reminded me I need to blow like ÂŁ80-90 getting the discs of the OST...seems like only the ARR one is Blu Ray so I can at least the tracks off the others via EAC.

I just got to the area with the Slyphs (Little Solace)... I love the music here. It's so perfect for fae type creatures.

Such an amazing soundtrack, and Soken kinda rocketed from "Who?" to "Motherfucking Music God Soken" overnight with A Realm Reborn.

When he inevitably goes independent, you better believe Lab Zero will be in touch for a future project.

My contributions:
Ramuh Theme
Unspoken (Coerthas in 1.0)
Churning Mists (Landlords)

I'm a grown man, and there's something in her voice that causes me to tear up every time.

Sophia is one of my favorite fights in the game period. Really fun mechanics. Killer song. Such a good fight.
Agreed 100%. Was the first EX fight I've cleared and I've been playing since 1.0. Great mechanics.

a very underrated song is breaking boundaries (level 50 and 60 final job quest song)

God, when this kicked in during my Dragoon level 50 quest my heart was racing. So epic.

The other one that got me was Pharos Sirius. I need to play this game again :(
Chills.

Soken is a God.

I have to agree. I've got all the collection on Blu-ray and listening to them with a proper amp+headphone is music porn.
