I'm not sure what people think when they ask this question. Do they think the Pro will lock them out of the game if they don't have a 4K TV? If you have a Pro, and the game has a pro patch, the game will automatically work for you in the pro mode regardless of what display you have.

So to answer your question, yes.

Not locking one out of the game but run the game as usual in 1080p. They said the PS4 Pro detects what kind of TV is attached to it and 4K mode might just not be available then.

That's not at all what he asked...he asked if the improved IQ of the 4K mode can also be witnessed on a 1080p display. I would also like to know this.

It is 900p-1080p dynamic resolution on PS4. It's 1080p most of the time though. Players of the recent builds said the IQ has considerably improved.
The Xbox One version will run in 750p-900p though.

Forget about 'base mode', it does not matter outside of games that are not patched to begin with. You will get all pro mode benefits regardless of your screen.

The pro detecting what kind of screen you have is just automatically adjusting the display resolution of the internal scaler to fit your TV's output. If you have a 1080p TV, the scaler of the Pro will set itself to 1080p ect.

Really happy with the visuals/performance in the TGS build. It looks considerably better than Gamescom.

Now they just need to make sure its consistent like that throughout the game and that bugs are stamped out.
 
If you've ever run a game like FFXI on PC with the reg edits for supersampling, you'd know for sure the PS4Pro is going to fucking ROCK on 1080p screens, at least for games patched to support Pro.

I found it actually strange how much fan opinion turned regarding Gladio. He was indeed after Noctis the most popular in Duscae and Prompto was by far the least favorite. Now it is for some strange reason the other way around.
I wonder if it has to do with the poor voice acting of English Gladio. There he seems a lot less likeable to me at least. English Gladio is just one dimensional tough and gruff, Japanese Gladio has much more nuance and sounds actually like a pretty jovial guy.

The TGS poll was predominantly voted on by Japanese fans, wasn't it? I think the issue may be that Glad at a baseline is a one-dimensional character and it becomes more evident the more material is released.

I would argue that all the bros seem mostly one dimensional at the moment. Hopefully the game gives them some depth.

That might be true... :/ The allure of his abs in the open might also have faded a little after so many years. XD

There was also a poll at PAX. As far as I remember he didn't do so well there either. Tabby stole many of the votes though...
 
The good news is that the wait is almost over. It's almost time for Final Fantasy XV to shine. No more discussion. No more arguing. Just playing it and seeing what it can do.

I actually think Prompto has demonstrated a surprising level of nuance and Ignis, while not having much emotional range, is interestingly atypical in being a male who is portrayed strongly as a caretaker. Glad has little in the way of depth even compared to them, unfortunately, and Noctis gets the main character shonen boost. Prompto being voted the best bro demonstrates some good taste in the fanbase at least!

From the anime episodes, I do think Prompto showed the most depth. I hope we get more backstory in the game, that's the only thing that bothers me about the guys already knowing each other. We missed the bonding phase. The anime did help some, but obviously not everyone will watch that.

Noctis, Prompto and Cor is a interesting dynamic I wanna play for the game. To hell with Ignis (only because he seems boring) and Gladio (will be very surprised if he turns out to be more than one dimension in the game).

The true party is just Noctis and Luna.
