I pre-ordered from Amazon after Uncovered and just received a promo code, but roadtrip.finalfantasyxv.com is unavailable right now.

I am guessing you will input your pre-order promo code and do the quests (web browser based?) to earn the extra DLC stuff.

Pretty cool.

I think I dislike this group of characters so much that everything I see them do pisses me off. Reminds me of that jpg of the girl eating crackers. This game better redeem the sacrifice that was made for this runt, I'm sorry, this king.

It's basically going to that Amazon link, and playing some browser mini-games every week to unlock DLC in the game.

You only get the roadtrip DLC if you preorder through amazon right? There's no amazon in my country so I won't do that, but more DLC never hurts.

First thought was 'Amazon? Must be some stupid pre-order thing'

Then I went 'wait, they must mean Amazon as in a dense forest area'

*Clicks video

Should've gone with the first though :|

Does the Square Enix Store offer these pre-order DLC as well? I'm starting to get confused. Are multiple retailers offering differing DLC packs?

So GS gets the "A Kings Tale" game, Amazon gets DLC that we will probably be to get in game or added later on. Okay lol.

SE will probably release all these DLC items as purchasable downloads in the future. They did the same thing with Lightning Returns pre-order outfits.

I'm not getting the "ugh really?" reactions =/

In what way is this bad? It's just a little something extra to do while you wait and you get a car skin/sword/daggers/polearm that you would have to probably buy later through purchasable DLC otherwise.

On another note, pre-ordering the deluxe through Amazon and then participating in this
promo gets you a nice chunk of stuff:

Steelbook
Kingsglaive BluRay

DLC:
Leviathan Regalia Skin
Golden Chocobo Regalia Skin
Noctis Suit costume
Masamune
Blazefire Saber
Mage Mashers
Gae Bolg

I wouldn't be quite this reductive, but the boatload of dlc and advertisements, plus the way the FFXV team presents them just turns me off completely.
It's quite possibly the most insufferably obnoxious marketing campaign for a game release I can remember. So much content bloat outside of the game experience itself. What's worse is that I think it will pay dividends for Square Enix (at least in North America; Japan might be a lost cause).

I remember the Watch_Dogs campaign. SE have at least not called an item "iconic" yet.

I wish this was available for everyone with say, a Square Enix account, and not Amazon. Amazon is not available in my country, so I'll either never get it, or pay for it in the future.

Unless the road trip DLC is available for everyone.

My only misgiving with the Deluxe Edition is the inclusion of the Blu-ray. I don't really want to own a physical copy of Kingsglaive...

Other than that the Steelbook is what sold me, wish it came with a making of Blu-ray instead. Kinda like how FFXII's Steelbook edition came with a Final Fantasy retrospective DVD.

Who offers the best pre-order bonuses?

Urgh don't just accept it, complain!
Still annoyed UCE isn't seemingly getting any pre-order bonus, or a retailer one at least anyway.
Probably GAME/Gamestop anyway as that would give Kings Tale and a weapon, I think Gae Bolg for GAME at least, not too sure for Gamestop.

That SE marketing team scrambling to fill up 2 months of marketing content thanks to the delay.

"Hey let's show some dessert footage everyones seen for a year and then make some interactive movies to give some dlc away".

Maybe editing an English dub TGS trailer would be a better usage of resources.

Gamestop: A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV, a tie-in game which takes place 30 years before the main title and features retro-style graphics

Amazon: Final Fantasy Road Trip DLC , 20% discount.

Microsoft Store: $10 gift code

BB:Best Buy: $10 in reward certificates and 20% off for Unlocked members; 20% off Kingsglaive movie

Digital

XB1: A special Noctis outfit for your Avatar

PS4: Final Fantasy 15 “Big Bang” theme

what I gather so far.

I wouldn't be surprised if other retailers start sending out promo codes for the roadtrip website as well. Might not be an Amazon exclusive, they may have just been the first to update their website/drop a video.

Trailer says the content is presented by Amazon so it's likely exclusive to that retailer.

I hope so. :( There is by now so much DLC that is exclusive to preordering here or there with this or that edition of the game and many other actions...it's insane really. But some of the stuff I would really like to own. :/

True but all of that other DLC existed already under different retailer pre-orders which makes me think it may not be Amazon exclusive. If it was stuff we have never seen before I wouldn't even question it but I guess we'll see soon enough...

This kind of crap is such a tragic joke.

I'm just gonna sit back, hope the game's good then assuming it is, order a copy from the cheapest retailer. Simple.

Road trip doesn't unlock until November 1.

I had already pre-ordered from Amazon so this is a nice little bonus that doesn't bother me in the least. It's not like my price is suddenly going up because of this stuff. At this point, it's just extra content and if it turns out to be lame I can just skip it and wait for the main game.
