That's what I did. Seemed like a reasonable way to get what I was looking for. (Keep in mind that the quality of the movies is... questionable. I can still be alright if you go in with low expectations. Anime definitely seems like a thing you'd want to watch. Some genuine feels in there.

Way OT, but should I watch Kingsglaive before playing the game?

Unless they do some sort of flashback, which perhaps they should, it seems to me you'd be missing out on a few very key pieces of back story. That said, even after watching the anime and movie, I still have no idea how the group in FFXV ended up where they are at the start of the game pushing that car. I'm hoping that gets cleared up.
