Final Fantasy XV Impressions: Mark All Spoilers

Hell, If I enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles X despite its shitty story and fetch sidequests, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy this one too.

So, I'm getting it

I'm running into tombs that are locked. Are they postgame stuff? Just got done finishing the sewer dungeon and I run into one of those.....

:/

How so? Is basically a QTE fest envolved on a linear boring dungeon. Is literally "Press X and something awesome happens"

One of those gifs is from a trailer, the other one is from from the same area as Episode Duscae that's been around since 2015.

If you're concerned about spoilers to the point where trailer footage is a spoiler to you, leave the thread now.

I had never seen a trailer or a teaser of this game lol. I just avoid all that crap.

I have to disagree I guess.

Combat is serviceable like The Witcher 3.
Story is way way better in The Witcher 3.
Summon? There are barely summon in FFXV and it is a big let down for the franchise.
The open world side quests are really bad compared with The Witcher 3.

What FFXV revolutionized???

I mean the game is good for some gamers but it has nothing revolutionary.

Imo it did =/

I didnt see anything like that (summons) in any other rpg...
Combat is just as good as games like DMC and it is still a RPG
TW3 has bad side quests too, even main story ones =(
But yeah, the number of summons is a big letdown, it's easy to see that the game was rushed and that the plot was changed from water to wine =/

But I still find the summons epic :D

XIII hate didn't kick in for a while either.

I remember a lot of "it gets amazing 10 hours in yo"

Except it was more like 25-30 hours to get some kind of freedom only to be forced to move in narrow corridors again for the last few chapters.

Even if i liked FF XIII at the time, it was so restrictive you had to wait so much to develop the characters the way you wanted. Stuff like level cap every chapter meaning the game wanted you to have a certain level for the boss, limitations on roles, limitations on movement, limited interactivity, all improved on by FF XV make me say FF XV is a big step forward for the series, even considering its flaws.

Not sure yet. It's a Sony-sponsored event. If it doesn't have a GAF thread I'll figure out a way to post info from on-site.

Can't wait for all the Falk gifs

Anyone who has preloaded the game, can you tell when it's unlocking to play?

I'd like to know for both US and EU, so I know which one I should buy from. US is cheaper but might unlock later I guess.

We need a countdown!

I'm still expecting the game to go off a cliff at some point, because 10 hours in and I'm still loving it so I don't know where it goes wrong. :P

I'm still in the open world bit so maybe it's later.

I'm sorry guys but FF7 and FF8 had pretty crappy stories and it's 2 of my favourite games. Good characters and chemistry is way more important.

With 8 I will agree but with 7 as a philosophy major I couldn't disagree more. There is some amazing things in the ffvii story. Hell in my metaphysics class I wrote a 50 page paper dealing with things from ffvii. It might not seem deep on a surface level buy Holy crap that game is deep if you really start to analyze it.

That's a minigame, inside one of the most awesome and epic setpieces in the series. The sole comparisson hurts my soul.

Well, the comparison here is
the setpieces in the game very, very much correspond to how minigames were handled in old titles, except at least they tie into the same control scheme as the battle system, even if a lot of them aren't particularly interesting combat encounters, or ones you can't lose

C'mon there is no summon at all except some scripted moments and maybe lucky in some battles.

That is not how summon is supposed to be even if you have 2-3 summon in the whole game.

FFXV removed summons in a way a never expected a game in the franchise could do that... it is shameful.

I still think it is a good game but a fall for the franchise.

PS. Did you ever played DMC??? The combat in FFXV is a hell of unresponsive compared with it.

Dude u just don't understand the epicness of summons ok?
Also Asura's Wrath has still to be topped by any game ever that's how much it revolutionized life itself.

The world needs more games like Asura's Wrath.

Heck, Bollywood action needs to become a genre of video game.

I'm having a great time.... But...

Tabata needs to rebalance the game. The normal mode is too easy. I can't believe there's even an easier mode.

Yeah, VII's phenomenal in this regard.

It's fun the hate that games (and everything in general) can get, it's like people can't wait to see how it fails at release =p

But if pokemon/mario keep the same crap for decades, they can still be be best games ever! =p

Really, the most important part of the game is the fact that most of the consumables are stupid shit like energy drinks and fruit punch that's given magical properties because of Noctis' powers. It's literally never said in game unless you look at the descriptions and I love it.

Sadly the world wasn't ready and we're punished to witness Asura's glory chained down by Naruto. In a free market the audience gets the games they deserve x_X...

I like the combat because it tries to be it's own thing and it (somewhat) works. It's just a bit cheap at times, with things like the block prompt appearing waaaay too late.

Strike/blindside links are pretty much QTEs, but I love them. They would be much better if the characters didn't keep clipping everywhere while doing so, though.

Also, I'm either not getting it or life regen is a bit weird. If I only have a small portion of my HP left with no grey portion remaining, does that mean I'm stuck with only that until the end of the combat? Because the "gets revived with 100 HP > gets hit > 0 HP > gets revived with 100 HP" cycle is frustrating.

I think it's a little hard to balance something as nonlinear as XV. Some posts (in this thread) are 20 hours, chapter 3 and others are 5 hours, chapter 7.

Unless you want scaling enemies like Skyrim

... Or FF8

This is what Elixirs are for!

no pls

Scaling is a cancer.

I have come to realize that the reason it seems like GAF (and the internet) is full of people who hate everything is because people who are actually enjoying shit....are too busy enjoying life to whine on the internet.

Its far too easy to go online and go "this shit sucks" than it is to go "this shit is great". The former tends to lead to more of a back and forth than the latter in which unless its a gush session the response tends to be more mild.

This is why the most active threads are the ones where people are arguing over dumb shit.
