How many outfits in the game? I've only seen 2 for Noctis. His black clothes, and some casual wear? Look like he was about to play golf. lol

I get some sort of business suit with the deluxe edition.

First Impressions:

After 21+ hours, I'm ready to give a few thoughts about the game. Just reached Chapter 6.

Thanks for the write-up. Just wanted respond because your post seems kind of overlooked. You probably wont get many responses in here unless the impressions are all positive, but I really appreciate the elaborated, in-depth impressions. Not suprised about the quality of the narrative though, which hasnt exactly been strong in recent FF entries. How do you think this game holds up in comparison?

So of the control schemes, I think I saw that Control B is the one that works out the best?

For battles? By far. Hitting L1 while holding square for block into parry is way easier and quicker than attempting to hold circle/hit square. I don't know why they changed the face button scheme from the first demo, it was perfect.

First Impressions:

The other problem is that the action is often very confussing, you can't read the enemy attacks most of the time, because all the shit there's in the screen alongside the camera problems. In DMC and Bayonetta, the action is always clear, and the enemies big enough that you can see his windup attacks or at least see when they are attacking, in XV a lot of enemies are to small or somethings their windup inexistent, so you are basically relying on pressing the guard button every now and then and hope you get to evade the attacks.

Random thought: it's interesting that Lightning Returns copy-pasted a lot of animations from XIII / XIII-2 and managed to ended up with a battle system that leaned heavily on "perfect" timing, both for blocking/dodging and for attacking, without feeling like the animations were inappropriately fast or subtle.*

A few bad animations can make timing-heavy combat systems unfair and damage the experience; given that they were building XV from the ground up with the knowledge that it would be an action game, I would hope that they would ensure that every animation is appropriate for their combat system.

* Except for the human enemies with the guns, that shoot you from across the room with no windup whatsoever. They're a great example of an animation that's completely terrible for that type of combat system.

Update 1.02

-various bug fixes
-depeer game mechanics
-new cutscenes
-cutscene adjustments

Added an extra 3GB to file size of the game plus 1.01

I was just thinking about this, but having only four characters to play as in a party [with the occasional guest character] in Final Fantasy XV is kind of ideal; since I actually like all of the main characters.

For example:

•Final Fantasy VI - I only like Shadow, Locke, Cyan and Setzer.

•Final Fantasy VII - I only like Cloud, Vincent, Cid and Yuffie.

•Final Fantasy VIII - I only like Squall, Seifer and Rinoa.

•Final Fantasy X - I only like Tidus and Auron.

All four of the main party characters in Final Fantasy XV are awesome and it's cool that you don't have to add characters [like Gogo, Umaro, Strago, Cait Sith, Amarant, Vaan, Vanille, Hope, Sazh etc. - no offense if you like any of them; I just couldn't bear them].

The characters that can join your party that we know of, like Cor and Iris are really well-designed and Cor is a total bad-ass - so to me, Final Fantasy XV is trumping all the other entries combined!

Question: The Camera Kit DLC is exclusive to Amazon or the Digital Premium Edition. Does that mean I cannot take pictures with Prompto's camera unless I have this DLC? Didn't they say something about being able to share your photos on social media?

FWIW, half of the enemies have tells to their attacks while the other half don't. Most of the wildlife don't have tells. Humanoid enemies have tells (Magitek soldiers, Iron Giant, Titan, Vagabond). It was a design decision to make wildlife behave unpredictably like in real life.

It seems like you gotta prepare and make sure your party can take a few hits before going into battle, kinda like all of the other FFs. You can't necessarily rely on quick inputs for all of the enemies and not take a hit. Not sure if I'll like or dislike this aspect until I play the game for myself.

So for those who have the new patch in, does your save file work?

I remember the past day or two that mentioned that the save file won't work with the new update.

No, they said that new saves won't work without the patch, in other words, if you save while playing with the patch and you delete the patch you won't be able to load that save.

I liked Kingsglaive.

Lots of world building and context that I'm sure will let me enjoy the game better, even if the characters themselves don't appear

So when is that new cutscene patch coming? Is it in 1.02? It says another 3gb. Just wondering the total amount I'm going to be downloading on Tuesday.

im watching kingsglaive right now, and a bit confused. Where is Noctis during this? At one point they just say something like, "He's not here". Is Brotherhood before this? I havent watched any of that, should I before continuing?

My friend had a save file that is 4 hours in, and her save file still works after she just finished installing 1.02 patch just now.

Warping outside of battle works nicely. Frame pacing is still there (she thinks).

Great to know it doesn't blow up the old saves!
