Final Fantasy XV Impressions: Mark All Spoilers

I think a better way of phrasing it might be that the sound direction is lacking. Some of the tracks are repeated too much and there generally isn't music in the overworld unless you're riding a Chocobo or using the MP3 player.

Is Somnus over-represented!? Impossible

I remember both of your posts in those dark days! (I had a diff. handle there).

XIII was also a hot mess on Gamefaqs -- well before release it was all "linear, TOWNZ, linear, TOWNZ" etc., non-stop. Did NOT get any better post release.

Hey, this is awesome.

Ha, I had no idea you were familiar with my net presence all those years ago. And now here we are bonding over similarly-minded game tastes and development approaches. The internet is huge and yet if you follow certain circles it can still manage to feel like kind of a small place. :P

This "JeffZero" thing is kind of funny. I legally changed my name to Quinton a ways back (long story, obviously <_<;) but I've had the handle so long my friends say it's iconic. I'm not so sure I should be proud about something as silly as JeffZero being deemed "iconic" but hey.

FFXIII's board... I just couldn't do it. I realized fairly early on I wasn't going to last there. It was such a hot mess, yes. By then I'd shifted over to Board 8 (the Contests Board) and I never looked back. <_>; I posted on the Versus XIII board for three-week spans or so every six months, ish, and I'd watch people go through the Versus XIII cycle of "this game is coming soon, have faith, it will be awesome" ---> "where is the news" ---> "I'm leaving the board."

Hey, do you guys remember that one dude with the poison berries shtick? The guy who always had those conspiratorial posts about how Square was falling apart because Wada ate poisoned berries?

Man, what a strange place.

Yeah, that poison berries poster was weird. A lot of weird posts about the health of Matsuno as well.

I was complaining about this the other day. Falk rereassured me with the Wanderlust track... but at the end of the day I am pretty sure that I preferred the feeling of "driving adventure" that a constant overworld track provded.

I'm the biggest fan of XII and how it provided high energy and low energy sections of music, and didn't change for battles.

If the music was unremarkable, then the OST of FFXII is non-existent.

I will stand by XII having incredibly atmospheric music that fit the environments so well in addition to how long you spend in them.

As Boco said, the XIII trilogy also had amazing music. Really, the music has never been a problem in this series.

i have been on blackout since that platnium demo with a few looks at small stuff here and there but brehs....I need to hear the battle theme is it up on youtube? I can't trust it because everyone will have their own verison of what they think FF15's theme will be that they edited on soundcloud and shit.

13's battle theme was too smooth with the violins, it's gotta be up there with it hopefully

Did you watch Brotherhood?

Shimomura's OST is something i think all of us can appreciate, so that reviewer must be smoking something for saying the OST was bland and unremarkable

Falk, don't worry, i appreciate you guys :(

I can kinda see the criticism if the critic was looking for an Uematsu-style soundtrack, with the tunes upfront and center. More recent FF games (starting with XII) have taken a more cinematic approach and while I think that makes the music gel better, some might find it takes a hit in memorability.

I can't help but compare it to Xenoblade X where a constant overworld track was generally appreciated.

I died.

Honestly tho, you knew someone like that was gonna pop up eventually right? I'm sure it's the very, very small minority.

1.02 also has new camera options I did not see before:

S7Ib7OW

Ow wow it actally makes a difference to battles, they are even more enjoyable now.

Please guys do yourself a favour and put camera auto correct on and tracking speed to 3 it fixes all camera issues, it did for me anyway.

Can you post a share video of the new cam?

I listen to a bunch of tracks from the soundtrack every day at work lol. If this is what qualities as unremarkable... O_O

I guess I will start the game from the beginning after this new patch has downloaded. Im at the start of chapter 4 and feel I can easily go back. Now that I have fully grasped the combat system and customization I'll be more comfortable and effective from the start...and I will be warping like crazy out in the field. Such a cool addition. :D

Cross your fingers Wanderlust is finally in and cross your fingers they fixed the Pro's water reflections. >__<

Question for those on Pro playing in 1080p - is it a big step up from the PS4 version?

Considering waiting until I have a Pro to buy this if it's much better :)

Wanderlust Falk Edition is the best exploration theme in the world.

I haven't watched ANY of that side shit. That's going to come back to hurt won't it?

Brotherhood is free to watch on youtube, all 5 episodes should take you around an hour. I really recommend them. It's actually not necessary to watch at all, but it gives you some really cool background on the main characters that you won't find in the game, all the way back to their childhood.

Can you download a patch on PS4 right now? How do you search for it? Didn't see anything.
I just turned on my PS4 and it started downloading, you can also before you start the game click on options and choose search for update.

I considere the HQ version on the Pro a big upgrade over the light version.

Those people are wrong. And generally have no real moral or critical authority to insult someone on that basis with no real credibility of their own.

But i understand that some attention seekers just can't help themselves.

^ joe puts out some of the best reviews in the business

I find his "character" annoying and abysmal. If I met him and he was just like that character in reality; I would never want to associate with him ever again. He irritates me on every level and I find his persona, delivery and "reviews" a true chore to watch; as well as dealing with the limitless amount of self-respect lost from having watched even 1/3rd of his "act".

Unremarkable music

What?

That's beyond asinine.

That's like going back in time and hearing Beethoven or Mozart play and then standing up and saying "This is utter shit!"

Anyone saying that, would only be saying it in an "MTV's Jackass" or "Reality TV" mentality - the ensuing beating and retaliatory strike against what you said would make you wish you'd never said it in the first place.

Yoko Shimomura aces it with everything I've heard so far and unless there's a total toilet-flush of the soundtrack I've not been privy to yet; it's going to be one of the best scores to any medium ever created.

Just my humble opinions,of course.

Carry on ;)
