Final Fantasy XV - Moogle Gameplay

I think you meant FF12

I like FFXII moogles, but that's not even what they look like.

Cool fanart.

I don't particularly think XIV's moogle designs are anything to praise.

But than again, you're comparing the creature moogle to a doll. A more apt comparison would be VII's or X's moogle dolls.

Was this necessary? I don't see the point of this comment other than to just rile people up.

Didn't you know? Every Final Fantasy thread always devolves into List Warz.

...

you're kidding right?

this?

We haven't had a good moogle design since ff9, which is damn sad... (i don't count type 0..)

Their also the sassiest

I like all moogles, but FF12 moogles had some of the most personality because they were straight up citizens in various cities.

We dont talk about FF13-saga moogles.

That's kinda where we have to disagree, sorry.
They might have the most agency in their world (with the lead hunter being a moogle iirc) but they are so much more boring and have so much less personality than in any previous final fantasy. They just feel like any other race in ff12 (whom I also find boring, but thats another issue), where as in ff9 you see how each moogle actually emots through their letters and through their interactions with other moogles (like Stiltzkin) (or in some cases other things like the kupo nuts couple).

I never got some of the later FFs trying to dress them up in costumes and make them out to be any more than they were, which were goofy-ass cat/teddy bear hybrids. Glad XV went back to the older design.

Those FFXII designs were awful.

...
I'm sorry, i don't remember moogles ever having "silent hill unnerving" levels of limb proportion.

also, seriously ff14

man I haven't followed the game in a while but it looks so visually different from when I remember them first showing the big monster battle... damn. love the moogle thing though, that's great. I miss moogles.

Can you tell me the numbers and formula you used?

Basically like this:

Subtract the last two home console releases (non mmo)

FF13 - FF12 = FF1

Remove the FF to complete the formula.

1

Then you:

1 × 10 = 10

Then,

10%

So basically I pulled this out of my ass.

I'll post it here since this is the newest FFXV thread.

I just watched Brotherhood anime and damn that was so good. Gave a much needed backstory to the characters. Right now, I can actually feel like they are friends and the game hasn't even come out.

Prompto episode in particular was amazing. I already liked him in the game, but the episode made him my absolute favorite.

At any rate, I strongly recommend the anime to anyone who is interested in getting the game.

Also, I know this has been talked about A LOT, but damn the English sub wasn't that great. If this is from the same localization team who are working on the game then I guess I have a lot more to fear than I initially thought. What makes this even more worrisome is that my Japanese isn't really all that good either, yet more than once I noticed the difference between the Japanese dialogues and the English sub.

Wasn't there some sort of online expansion coming out later through DLC? I believe that the season pass description had it. I'm not sure.

Not as far as i'm aware.
From what I remember the season pass has "episodes" for each of the other main character you don't play as, and a "expansion" of sorts.
i don't remember ever seeing anything mentioning coop or online.

Is there any multiplayer in this game? I'm hoping there isn't.

There's a full on pvp mode in the works with custom characters. Think demons souls where other players can invade you whether you like it or not and gank you.

When you die, they have a timer to look through all of your inventory (including spells) and can swipe whatever they want from you.

Joking

I think the last, unknown expansion mentioned online on the Japanese store page when it first went up.

Yeah that's the one I'm remembering. I wasn't sure if it was a bad translation though.

Hey, cool that you now binge watched (?) the anime and that you kinda listened to my advise to watch the anime first. XD

Yeah, the English game localisation worries me too. I'm actually German but what I've heard so far of the German dub is pretty awful so I was looking forward to the English dub. But some characters, especially Gladio and Ignis and big parts of the actual translation just aren't right and to free for my taste. So it will be Japanese voices and German text (which is apparently close to the Japanese one) for me. That should work just fine.

Yeah, thanks for the advice man. I'm glad that I listened to you :)

Unfortunately since my Japanese is no where near competent enough for this game, I have to rely on English script as well. Dub issues aside, what worries me even more is that in the anime not only the tone seems to be different in some of the scenes between Jap audio and Eng sub, but in some cases the Eng sub is outright wrong.

Like in one of the scenes from last episode the
lady who is with Noct says that it's a pity that king couldn't accompany him
. Now Noct's actual answer is different than what we see in the Eng sub.

English sub reads:
"He (the king) doesn't care."

While Noct actually says something along the lines of:
"It's fine, I don't mind."

As you can see, the actual JP dialogue is quite different than what the Eng sub translates.

I just hope we don't see these kind of localization mistakes in the actual game and during important dialogues.

I'm afraid there are many examples of that in the game too. The problem is, the translators don't see it as "mistakes" but they deliberately translated it like that.
Someone posted a documentary about FFXV's development a while ago in one of the FFXV threads. There the English translator explained that they deliberately change the script because they think the North American audience won't understand the cultural differences to Japan. They used a conversation of Noctis and Regis as an example. They explained Noctis and his father are very close to each other but the way Noctis and his father act in Japanese would seem too distant to American players so they changed the script pretty drastically and Noctis as well as Regis behave now pretty different but closer to how they think an American son and father would behave.
As a manga and anime fan and as someone who loves Japanese culture and JRPGs (The J is there for a reason) I think this is a terrible idea...but I see why they are doing it. They hope to widen their audience. They want the game to also appeal to people who have never read a manga, seen an anime and maybe not even played a Japanese game so far.
I'm glad the German and French localisations don't need to be as generally appealing as the international English version. That's why these versions are so much closer to the original Japanese script.

After carefully pondering the Moogle in an Org XIII cloak I have come to the conclusion that one of these must be true:

- The hood has a larger opening on the top with zippers to close after the hood is worn and the pom pom ball fits through it.
- The pom pom is detachable and reattached through a small hole on the top of the hood.

I started thinking about that after I had posted it.
