In this thread, we leverage the Orwellian power of Google to locate ourselves in Google Map's street view and share it with others.

Instructions
  • Go to Google Maps.
  • Find the town/city where you live.
  • Drag the little yellow man onto the nearby streets (if you can).
  • Take the best screenshot you can of you or your possessions and post it here.

To keep Google from owning your ass any further, be sure that your screenshot doesn't include any actual street or address information. You can do this by moving your mouse off of the browser window for a couple of seconds before taking your screenshot. Doing so will cause said sensitive information to disappear.

To make it more interesting I present:

Achievement Points
  • 5 points for a shot of your home.
  • 10 points for a shot of your car(s) (current or past).
  • 15 points for non-vehicle related items associated with you.
  • 20 points for a shot of someone you know.
  • 30 points for a shot of you!

I get 15 points for this:

I lose, my townhouse community doesn't exist on Google Maps.

Google Street Viewed my house in Seattle a couple years ago now. It's a great shot with both of our cars seen. It must have been done during the summer since my car is there (work in education, have summers off). Unfortunately all the angles show the street signs out front and I don't feel like editing them out.

Hmmph, the closest I can get to my house here is this:

As you can probably see the end of the street goes directly into a forest, so StreetView only goes to the closest corner.

Anyway, here is my parents house where I grew up.

...and my old crappy appartment building in Berkeley.

They did street view of my current apartment and the one previous to that before I lived in either of them. However, my car is parked at my buddy's apartment (where I was staying) in the view of his old place. No I can't be bothered to take a screenshot.

Lol, can someone tell me how I do this? I press prt sc, and then what?

Paste it in Paint or something, crop out the image you want, save/upload, etc.

I'm in college now, which is far from my house, so my place looks so different.

My parents aren't home either :/

Holy sh*t. This scares the crap out of me. Considering that I just got stalked last week, I don't think I'll be taking any picture of my apartment.

Where the arrow points is where I reside. Google stopped short of snapping my house.

Are you for real? :lol :lol Prepare to get murdered the next time you say something offensive.

Edit: In fact, I'm on my way there now. Imma teach you a lesson, you son of a bitch!

they don't have the complex i live in, just the street that runs by it.

but damn they've got most of the town i used to live in (peoria il) mapped out. i moved back to the east coast about 3 years ago, so it's nostalgic looking around

I live between two streets that have Street View; however my tiny thru street does not. This was the best shot I could find.

Funny thing is, I live in a duplex and we're on the top floor. So though the shrubs block the lower floor, you're looking right into my second bedroom. :lol

Google Maps fucked up my street. I mistakes the street BEHIND my house as the street that I live on. It only shows the back of my house. Google Maps doesn't take any pictures on my actual street.

ETA: Here it is....the back of my house :lol

I like looking up areas from early childhood (< 8 years) that I haven't been to since around then. I get a weird rush of memories that I had no idea were still there.

It was only a matter of time before someone made a mistake.

Next up, thread for posting your vehicle tags and plates.

I see a real good picture of my house. 2 year old picture probably. My dad's truck, my car, and my sister's car are all parked in front.

Not gonna post it, sorry. :/

Damn,I can't find any of the houses I grew up in. My town has only like 2 streets on Street view. Nor any of the houses in small towns.

I found one of my apartments in St. Paul MN however.

No Google Street View in Galashiels or Korea.

Booyah! 30 points for me.

I was actually on lunch walking across the street from my building when I saw the Google car pass me by. This was about a year ago. I didn't bother to look to see if I was on there or not up until a few weeks ago. :D

Not gonna post my house since a lot of people here know what city I live in, but I would get 30 points, my garage door was open, the google car missed me by just minutes since I was in my backyard mowing the lawn.

Dude that is freakishly AWESOME :lol :lol

And yeah I can get a damn near front door shot of my house there. But neither of our cars, they clearly take these photos during business hours.
