That seems a little extreme. There's no conformation of censorship right? So why not just wait and see if it does get censored?

Seems like a waste of time. If they are afraid NOA is going to censor it, I feel like it would be easier to uncensor the game when it comes out than to fan translate the entire thing.

This game is getting localized in a few months. I feel like this effort is better put towards another game lol.

A fan translation for a game that is already confirmed to be localized within a year by one of (if not the best) localization companies in the industry?

Do these guys have nothing better to do?

Why waste your time with this when there's plenty of other 3DS games that WON'T get localized? Translate those if you're gonna do this.

I hope they translate the new Super Mario game if it comes out a week earlier in Japan than in the rest of the world.

They would indeed seem to be the simpler solution.

So they read the interview where Nintendo confirms that they left the same-sex marriages in for the US version and their first though is..."OMG Nintendo will censor this we need to create a fan translation"

Riiight....

It's actually probably a lot easier to translate and enter the text than trying to reinsert deleted scenes/text into the localized version.

What about the even more incestual tones than before, or Tharja's ass being censored in Awakening?

Eh, I don't see how. We don't even know what will be censored, if it will be censored, and to what extent. If there are changed CG stills like in Awakening, they could just replace them with ones for the Japanese version, or if prerendered cutscenes have been changed, they could replace those too.
If you are fantranslating the game, you have to already be able to edit the content of the game files, inserting text and such. Translating is also a very very long process requiring many man hours.

I hope this game gets censored. That Amie shit looks straight up embarassing and I'll be very glad if they tone it down.

Also, I'm all for fan translating games, but translating games that are already confirmed for a localization is absolutely a no-go for me.

Is there any petition yet to make sure Nintendo will keep being able to rub your sisters' faces and marry them in the game?

Asking so I can sign it.

This happened a few times with some games on DS. I believe Final Fantasy IV got one, but it stayed as a menu patch.

I would have also suggested "w-well, do DQVII" but then I remember Square actually sent a DMCA claim about it...

It happened with Pokemon Black and White as well for whatever reason.
