Fire Emblem is such a damn good series

I play Path of Radiance with battle cutscenes off and holding down the "b" button all the time (so the movement speed of the units on the map is fast). That's how you play it. Without doing that, the pace of the game is sh*t and not worth playing.

You should spend your time analyzing where the CPU units can move and where you should move your units. The game is slow enough that way (seriously). You shouldn't spend your time watching cutscenes!!

edit: to sum up, the player decides if Path of Radiance's gameplay is slow or not.

no, it is precisely because Path of Radiance's "off" setting (aka Radiant Dawn's map only animations) is so slow compared to every other game that we are complaining about it

I don't remember if you could outright skip cutscenes in PoR, but if not, yeah that's pretty bad.

I'm pretty sure (i haven't played it in some months) that, using the start button, you could skip whatever you wanted in Path of Radiance. I mean, you could skip the "story elements". You could go from one map to the other, mashing start, in a matter of seconds (assuming that i'm remembering it correctly :p)

Ok, i'm sorry them :p

But... "so slow"!? It's still just some seconds. People were talking about like if the game was ruined because of how slow the gameplay was, so i supposed that they were talking about the gameplay with cutscenes on. Sorry.

edit: faceplam. Double post, sorry. I feel stupid.

To be fair, you really can't see bloody anything in PoR, especially on a shitty TV. In the 2D games, player units and enemy units are clearly marked, classes and environments are distinguishable from one another and boundaries of the map are always obvious.

Myrrh was the only good Manakete IMO. Looked intimidating too. Of course Sacred Stones was one of the easiest Fire Emblem's in the series since you could grind to your heart's content. Much like Awakening.

Come on man. Sacred Stones isn't easy because you could grind in the tower/world map, which you could totally ignore you know. The game is easy because enemy units are all scrubs and a good number of player units either come with good bases, good growths, or both.

Like Seth is basically Marcus but with actual growths. Its so obscene, a level 20/20 Franz (who also has really good bases) is actually offensively weaker than a level 20 Seth on average.

I just value other things more than most. It doesn't mean I'm obsessed.

and for FE, one of the biggest reasons I'm even a fan is because how fast the games play. So uhh yeah ok I'm sorry PoR plays slow?

I guess I was a little bit rude sorry if I offended you. I'm just surprised by how much you value this

Only thing that you can do is trying to make it a little bit better :p

With the default configuration your units are marked with a blue circle on the ground, support units with yellow, enemies with red and other units with green. I'm mentioning that because i have that off.

Aside form that, pressing the "x" button is really usefull for automatically moving your cursor from one unit to the other.

If those things don't help enough... i guees that you only have the option of changing the camera (with the "c" stick) or the distance (with the "L" trigger). Changing the camera can help a lot.

I'm not trying to defend the game. I'm just mentioning things that can help... that you probably already know about xD

And the fact Ephraim can get a 30% crit chance with an Iron Lance.

:/

The GBA games definitely regress in difficulty with each entry.

Eh, Japan still has psp users at this point, and the Wii U user base is nonexistent as well. Also, another reason that Thracia didn't sell that well is a really hard game and that's why 6 got simplified a bit.

But mainly i'm commenting on people asking it to be released on the Wii U are just ignoring how dead the Wii U is in Japan right now compared to the 3DS, just like people clamoring for Advance Wars don't realize how badly Advance Wars Day of Ruin bombed in Japan. It's just not practical for Nintendo to do it.

Although, I do think Code Name steam is going to bomb harder than any Advance Wars title would.

Uh, what?

Days of Ruin was not released in Japan*.

*It finally came out in 2013 as a club nintendo platinum reward eshop download.

The console Fire Emblems are still better than the handheld ones. The handheld ones always feel a little more dumb down compared to the console games. I hope the next one could break that trend.

I think you could have inferred that I meant dual strike.

Now thinking about it, pairing up/dual strike and dual guard in awakening reminds me so much of dual strike in aw:ds in that the new mechanic they introduced were so utterly broken and not balanced well.

Definitely a series that is a hallmark to how great Intelligent Systems has been throughout the years. One of the fore-fathers of the turn-based strategy genre that implemented strong characterization and a good yarn without compromising what is essentially the basics of rock-paper-scissors gameplay.

One of those games where I will not hesitate to buy and play thoroughly.
