Both. I'm not getting any audio whatsoever.
Hmmm... I'd suggest uninstalling/reinstalling your flash plug-in and see if that helps at all.

This article about plug-in reinitialization might help as well.

I'm kind of reaching here, as I'm not sure, but these might help you out :/

LOL, very nice theme. Speaking of, does anyone happen to have a Stylish that changes NeoGAF to black as the main color instead of white? White happens to be very hard on my eyes and a black layout would be much better.
I have some sample CSS I'm working on that gives me a start:

Insert into a new Stylish theme.
Code:
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document domain("neogaf.com") {
  body, div, table, tr, td, blockquote, pre { background-color: #111 !important; background-image: none !important; color: white !important; }
  a { color: yellow !important; text-decoration: underline !important; }
  table, * { border-color: #444 !important; }
}
Change it as you wish. It gives me a dark background with white text and yellow links with underlines on them. Problem is some images don't look right on it. Can CSS change the SRC of an IMG tag? I guess a GreaseMonkey script could do that.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to try these in a moment.

And just for fun, I made some custom icons out of that picture posted on the previous page:

I have no idea how I lived without the new URL bar.

Has anyone stopped clearing their history? I used to do it once a week, but I haven't cleared it once since installing FF3.

Pretty much the exact same thing here. I rely on it entirely.

I just started using the all-in-one gesture add-on and it's blowing my mind. Seriously, it seems like one's web browsing experience is becoming increasingly dependent on add-ons and extensions, rather than the actual browser.

/swipes down, then right to exit tab <3

I never clear my history. It used to always get so large that the history sidebar became too slow to even be useful. Then I set it to only keep the last 150 days, which was still slow, but bearable.

The new unified history + bookmarks storage they're using in FF3 is much more efficient than the old one, though, no problems at all.

I've been searching for a good RSS feed add-on. It doesn't need a lot of bells and whistles, just do the most basic stuff: sidebar with feed which are organizable, option to view a short summary in that sidebar, notifications when new news items are available, key shortcuts, ...

Hey, guys. Is it possible to remove the feature or whatever that makes links in you Favorites appear as you type? It gets annoying for me, honestly, as my Favorites are things I'll go back to later, like articles.

And yes, porn.

Anyone else have that problem when YouTube is doing it's maintenance that FireFox completely freezes and crashes? It's starting to irritate me.

Is there a way to make Firefox NOT move temporary files to the temp folder, and just use its own cache? It moves larger flv files to the Windows temp folder, but I'd like them all to stay in the firefox folder.

My computer is a bit wacky, as the C drive isn't the main drive, and this screws up Filecacheview since it won't read from there and I can't copy a locked tmp file :/

Just leave a Google Reader tab available all the time.

I'm wondering if an extension exists for this:

Let's say I need to save a bunch of images that are sequentially named on a website. Is there any extension or program that does this so that I don't have to do it automatically?

For example:

One page will be named ".....001.jpg" then ".....002.jpg", "......003.jpg", etc...

Is there any way to save these images automatically?

(this isn't porn btw, pics suck anyway)

Well there's a couple of ways to do this. DownThemAll is an extension for Firefox:

http://www.downthemall.net/

There's also a Download Manager called OrbitDownloader that installs an extension that allows you to do this.

(Grab all by Orbit when you right click on a page)

http://www.orbitdownloader.com/

I personally use OrbitDownloader for all my needs because it has a sniffer for sniffing out streaming video URLs so you can download them directly. (And it supports RTMP)

Just downloaded Firefox for the first time (and am loving it) but I have a quick question. When I make a new tab I want a certain site (Google) to pop up. How do I make this happen? I've been searching and can't find it! Thanks for the help.

I know 2 ways you can accomplish this off the top of my head.

  • Change your homepage to google then set FireFox to go to your homepage when opening up a new tab (I know you can do this in Shiretoko [Firefox beta], not sure about the official release)
  • Install TMP and change the new tab page

For the first method just go to File -> Preferences -> Main

For the second method, download/install TMP -> Tools -> Tab Mix Plus Options -> Events -> Tab Opening -> Load new tab: Home Page, Current Page or User Location

Just updated mine for the first time and it crashes every single time I try to open it. Tried starting in Safe Mode, but same results. Really frustrating.

Any tips?

Try disabling all your add-ons first. If that helps your issue then it's likely that Firefox is having a problem with one or more of them. Try to isolate the problematic add-on and keep it disabled.

If that doesn't work, try a fresh reinstall.

Ooh, something I've been meaning to ask for a while. Is there a way to bring back the ability to just drag images from Firefox to Photoshop or whatever?

Tried disabling add-ons. No dice. Moving to phase 2...

Should I delete FF completely before I try to reinstall? Never had to do this before. And if I do that will I lose all my bookmarks?

Backup your profile folder before you uninstall it, all of your bookmarks are saved there (under the bookmarkbackups folder). After you back it up, but before you reinstall, you might want to just delete the folder/files under the extension folder in your profile folder and see if that does the trick for you. If it works, just move back you extensions one by one using the backup folder until you find the culprit.

You can also backup/restore bookmarks via Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks.... -> Star button -> Backup/Restore

Awesome, that's probably the only thing I was worried about losing, really. I'll try that out first thing in the morning.

Thanks a lot for the quick helpful responses, guys!

Guys can someone help me please, I've had a pretty shitty day with Firefox. :( An addon update fucked me and I've had to basically redo everything to get it back to the way it was. My question is how do I stop the individual tabs for the addons to stop opening when I restart Firefox! I downloaded about 7 or 8 addons, and every time I restart FF, it has like 7 to 8 tabs opening all about the addons! WTF!

It depends. If you're talking about an extension's web page opening informing you that the extension was updated, there's nothing you can do about that. That will happen every time you update the extension because that's what the author wants. It doesn't happen often so it's no big deal.

If you're talking about Firefox remembering the last web pages you had open, that's part of Firefox. If you don't want Firefox remembering the last tabs you had open when you exited it, just go to Tools -> Options -> Main and set the Startup option "When Firefox starts:" (set it to how you want it to behave)

It's probably your Profile folder's corrupted, you may need to delete and start anew once more.

Sooner or later, I'll upgrade my PC hardware and I'll start on a fresh install of Windows XP (maybe Vista). So I've been thinking is there any way to keep all my mozilla firefox settings, bookmarks, rss feeds, extentions etc?

I found this http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/
Has anyone tried it before? Does it work?

You can save bookmarks by clicking Bookmarks - "Manage bookmarks" or similar (have non-Eng), and then export. Settings is probably just a file no?

Unless you're changing OS you can simply copy the entire profile directory (C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\) to your new computer.

I've used FEBE for that (Firefox Environment Backup Extension
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109)
FEBE backs up your extensions, themes, and (optionally) your bookmarks, preferences, passwords, cookies and just about everything else Firefox offers (it can even backup/restore your entire profile).

Sweet! I'd been using the 3.5b4 beta with MR Tech to enable two of my incompatible add-ons (That still work with no problems) and waiting patiently for the final release.

RC1 is a great step forward. How many release candidates do they usually do and how often? When should we expect the final version by?

Side note: Before I installed RC1, I had FireFox crash twice. The second time it brought up a window I had never seen before. A single tab with a nice apology message saying "There seems to be a problem loading your session. Sometimes it is caused by one of the last tabs opened." then gave me a list of tabs to select to reopen or not.

Of course the last tab I opened was the Release Candidate download page. LOL Unchecked it and my tabs opened right up.

Though the crash was directly caused both times by me playing with the menubar. Namely the help menu in OS X 10.5-10.6.

God I love session restoring. EVERY BROWSER SHOULD HAVE THIS FEATURE STANDARD!
