First Details of Slim PS3 US Marketing Blitz

Those were pretty awesome, yeah. So 9 TV spots, I hope the 7 left showcase some of the awesome games. Even the old ones would be fine, such as: MGS4, Resistance1&2, LBP, KZ2 etc.

Those are the first 'normal' in Europe though. We have only had scary clowns and circus people and people drugging themselves on sink water so far.

Sony's European ads have always been a bit over the top. Remember the Porn stars vs. Golfers PS2 ad?

"A lone golfer is no match for three fit females."
"Meanwhile a large male takes a golfer from behind."

Search "Start PS3" in google...what do you get? I get "PS3 Green Light On and System Won't Start" Great advertising...

They changed that before the ads went to air. They have a url on them now (start-ps3.com).

I think the euro ones are fine, they're simple and direct. They don't have the humour of the US ads, but they're a lot better from a pure communication point of view that some of the stuff scee did with their ps3 ads before.

If you type Start PS3 it still comes up with that. Ad the quotation marks and you have TheSixthAxis talking about how it doesn't work. Sure...it's at the top...but still. Surely you'd search first to see what else would be on the page.

Now every prospective consumer is going to see "PS3 doesn't start"

I'm not sure I understand, the ads don't actually tell you to 'search for Start PS3', they changed them before they hit TV.

Now they just have www.start-ps3.com at the end.

For the small numbers who caught the ad preview online and who may search for 'start ps3' they bought up some adwords advertising, but that's like a tiny number of people :p

People are still taking the "Everything" line literally and getting butt hurt :lol ?

I bet these are the same retarded mugs who search for and analyze every bit of a company PR and when they find something that doesn't mesh with reality, they post a thread on this forum crying and moaning about it, as if it somehow injured them. "BUT SONY SAID WUMBLE WAS WAST GEN! WHY SONY PUTTING WUMBLE BACK? WAHWAHWAH, MOMMY!!"

Oh they got rid of it completely. Intelligent.

Are the commercials on PS Blog not showing up for anyone else? I just get a white box where the commercials are supposed to be.

The european ads are generic, but they remind me of the intro of Trainspotting (not sure if it is a good point or not on a marketing standpoint, but I like the reminiscence ;) ).

I like the humor of the US ads, but I hate all the characters (yes, the three of them)... so annoying.

It just occurred to me that there's probably a vaguely identical thread to this one for when the Gamecube dropped to $99.99...

Anyway, it's nice that Sony is finally competitve on price, but I think it's going to take a lot more than that to sustain excitement for this system.
