Maybe, but at least you can find spiders everywhere, electric eels on the other hand.

Sounds like it happens at OSCORP, so they're doing something with eels there? I don't see how it's crazy especially for a comic book film.

And you can't find radioactive spiders everywhere that if bitten by you get superpowers.

So.... because it's a comic book film that means it can be stupid? I don't think that's a good excuse anymore. Spiderman getting bit by a spider is iconic Electro falling into eels is cheesy.

Yeah, I can't give everything a pass just because it's a comic book film. It really depends on how it's done and what they have established in that world up until that point. Execution (or electrocution) is everything. I guess we'll just have to wait until next summer.

A good example is Venom in Spider-Man 3. Oh, this rock fell out of the sky and Peter happens to find it. It was just really lazy. Same goes for the Sandman stuff. I can deal with a certain amount of cheese, but I don't like when they put the characters in that situation in a lazy manner.

Getting bit by a radioactive spider and getting superpowers from it is stupid. But it doesn't matter because it's a fictional universe about characters with unique abilities due to various circumstances.

I guess if Electro falling into a tank of eels were iconic I guess due to it being the original way it happens and time, basically, if they introduced a character that got superpowers by being bit by a radioactive spider would be considered stupid too.

Right everything depends on how it's handled, I just think it's ridiculous to knock this concept in the same context as someone getting bit by a spider and becoming humanjesus.

That doesn't really make any sense. It doesn't have to present itself as stupid, no. But by virtue of being a comic movie it's already pretty much stupid. But that's kinda the point and totally in line with the source material and character iconic or otherwise.

No, obviously it's fine because it's iconic, but this idea is just ridiculous!

I think one of the reasons this might come off stupid is that people get fatigued with the execution of the creation of villains. With Batman, you're usually dealing with the mentally ill. Common theme among Spider-Man villains is science gone wrong. Which involves lab accidents. Spidey, Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Sandman, The Lizard, Electro...probably Rhino. Like how many different ways can you do lab accidents AND make them have a vendetta against Spider-Man? It's probably a big challenge when you think about it.

The eels and livewire stuff sound pretty lame. But what else could they do, honestly? It's still going to be some stupid lab accident.

Well the villains in Spider-Man to me have always been about about smart people who have great technology that can be used for the greater good but the tragedy that comes with that responsibility and having to deal with the consequences. They vent out at the closest thing, which happens to be Spiderman. With great power comes great responsibility and all that mushy stuff. Cheesy sure, but that's Spiderman.

everything in these new ASM movies are all boringly linked to Oscorp research with makes it meh

all badguys

reminds of the 90s cartoon where EVERYTHING was linked to the Kingpin = zzzzzzzzz

So in the Spectacular Spider-Man, he was electrocuted with radioactive eels, and couldn't stop emitting electricity, meaning he had to wear a suit 24/7.

In this, he's electrocuted with radioactive eels, and....becomes electricity, or something? He can travel through power lines and plug sockets?

Why does the cartoon version seem less silly?

I bet the answers from panel wont stop people moaning about the film having "too" many villains.

Electro is main
Rhino is a joke but in a few scenes

that is it Green Goblin will probably be after credit scene by looks of it

Yea, I've been trying to come by any negative impressions since I don't like reading one side, but haven't seen any yet. I think there were just a few complaints that they were running late. I read it might've been due to them trying to set up a stunt rig, because Garfield was apparently supposed to swing onto stage as Spider-Man. I guess it didn't work out so they scrapped it and he walked on instead lol.

And yea, they addressed the villains thing by saying Electro is the main focus. But he did add that characters can potentially appear and not be villains in this film, but possibly in future ones. I believe. Hope they don't overdue it, I just want to be able to watch this movie without having to think about future or past installments.

Marc Webb have given a tidbit that he could be building towards The Sinister Six.

He hints The Gentleman could be the leader.

And came to think of it. Could he be the one we see at the end credits of ASM1?

Norman Osborn is way too sick in ASM and ASM2 to be him talking to Connors.

They also mentioned that the web conducts electricity. I've never seen that mentioned or being an issue in the comics before.

Spidey is going to get fucked up bad.

Also looks like Harry might be the Green Goblin in this version.

Who do The Sinister Six consist of?

Isn't it Dr. Ock, Electro, Mysterio, Kraven, Vulture and Sandman?

We have only seen Electro. And if they're gonna add Green Goblin and already have Lizard, then it must take more movies than ASM3 and 4 to bring these foes to the screen. I don't know how they can build toward The Sinister Six - maybe they'll consist of Lizard, Electro, Green Goblin, Rhino and 2 others in the ASM movies dunno.

I'm pretty sure different Spider-Man villains sign in and out of the Sinister Six.

ARGLBLARGHLEBLAH

The post-credits ending of The Amazing Spider-Man was awful and unnecessary. Having a scene just like it in the sequel without following it up will be even more awful.

I'm glad they're doing scenes with lesser villains at least, the Rhino part looks like it could be fun.

Remember how everyone wanted a throw away villain like Shocker to open one of the other Spidey films, just to show how awesome Spider-Man was at fighting? Yeah, Webb pretty much confirmed that this is exactly what Rhino is going to be in this movie. Peter having fun being Spider-Man and putting away a silly villain with ease. There's a good interview with Webb on Cinemablend about the future of the franchise and what they're setting up it as, so these guys might come back later as well.

It's worth the read.

I'm still confused as to if he will wear the Rhino suit?

I hope not, as what we have seen of him is perfectly fine but then I see him in scenes with that huge "mech" suit.

I have a feeling it'll be some kind of exo-suit that has horns on it for some reason or another and be dubbed "The Rhino" as the name of prototype suit. I bet that's what he's trying to steal, gets busted by Spider-Man and either comes back later in the film wearing it, only to get punked by Spider-Man again or somehow slips it on during the initial chase/battle and still gets punked.

He will wear the Rhino suit, Webb even said it'll have "horns".

The reason he wasn't shown wasn't shown in Rhino form was because the CGI work wasn't finished since they wrapped filming up about a month ago.

We'll probably see him in the Fall trailer.

Yeah I now the reason why he weren't in the trailer. I were just unsure as to if he would turn up suited up in the movie.

Jamie Foxx also confirmed there's a time lapse in the movie (1yr forward).
So this opens up some more possibilities for Aleksei to reappear after being featured without the Rhino suit early in the movie.

Seems like an appropriate thread.

I can't get over how bad Electro looks in these promo shots and in the teaser. Spidey on the other hand is wearing the definitive costume, Although Garfield doesn't look to be in the same shape as he was in ASM.

Man that Empire cover with Spidey posing is really bad, so many clashing colors- looks cheap. Wow the rest of Electro isn't all that bad, better than most villain designs in these movies.

Anyway, I've only heard good things about the footage they showed.

Watching the Comic Con panel on youtube, and I'm really impressed by Andrew's understanding of the character. I also feel like he gets Spider-Man a lot more than the writers in the first film.

And Foxx is amazing as always. Looks like he really enjoyed the shoot which is great.

The fuck was the designer of the cover thinking with lime green and blue as the primary colors. Makes it look like a cheap teeny bopper magazine.
