I'm guessing because of this? ;D

Well done, sir, well done.

So am I the only one here that prefered the reboot to Raimi films?

Nope. Andrew is a better Spidey than no talent Tobey, and Stone being better than Dunst goes without saying. They just needed a better script to work with. They actually got Spidey's movements down in TAS, and even had him throwing quips. I'd still put TAS in the same league as SM1 and over SM3 without even blinking. Webb isn't talented enough to match or surpass SM2.

After reading the comic con info, I'm more postitive about this. It seems they're really planning out the sequels, Giamati won't be the Rhino in ASM 2 and I'd assume it's the same for the GG.

Basically they seem to know what they're doing.

Spider-Man 3 is like really bad guys, worse than I remember. It's on FX right now- I'm probably not gonna watch the whole thing lol, but Maguire and Dunst aren't even trying.

Unless you have some insane loyalty to Raimi, as a fan of Spider-Man, or fan of Spider-Man movies. I can't see how you can think it's good or even better than TASM. Flint Marko's daughter booked in a better performance than the main cast with her one line. Lol.

Peter and Aunt May scenes are still good for the most part. Aunt May was really good in the Raimi trilogy, did a fantastic job with character. It's really weird in some scenes to see Rosemary's good acting clash with Tobey's awful acting sometimes though.

Yes, he will, he's just a very minor character. Webb is just teasing out possibly bringing him back in later movies.

TAMS was such a chore. This looks worse.

The costume looks a bit better though, but I think it will still look bad in motion like the other. The promo shots hide the way it bunches up and looks cheap like the first. Plus Garfield doesn't fill it out very well. Good eyes though.

Agreed. Every time someone attempts to explain how SM3 is better than ASM, I just kind of... well, I wonder about things.

Especially considering what SM3 was following up. One of the biggest letdowns of all time. ASM, even with a few blemishes like Lizard and some of the CG, is nothing by comparison.

I'm guessing it's people being blinded by their love for the first two. Personally, loving the first two even though I thought maguire wasn't very good, the third one being so horrible almost ruined the Raimi series for me. I can easily put ASM above it.

I absolutely loved the first two, and the reason why I hated Spider-man 3 was because of how much I loved the first two. I mean yeah it was a bad movie, but especially bad considering how fantastic the previous one was. After Spider-man 3, I was ready for a reboot. Some people think it's too soon, I thought it was taking too long.

No I didn't really care for the raimi films at all. ASM was much closer to the comics even with the changes. ASM2 seems to be pissing all that away but I have enough goodwill towards the first film and Garfield's performance to give it a shot.

I completely agree. They ruined all the characters and villains so it was definitely time for a reboot.

The worst time I ever had watching a movie in the theaters was SM3.

Thinking back to that "Ever walked out of a movie" thread, that's probably the closest I've come. I had been going through a particularly bad breakup at the time too and the film used Snow Patrol's "Signal Fire" as its theme, possibly the most depressing song ever.

SM3>ASM.

SM3 is a bad movie but entertaining. ASM is extremely boring. SM3 gifs are still being used! Even the bootleg versions. lol

This excuse would be fine if it weren't for the fact it's the third movie in a series that was extremely well liked until that abomination happened. It destroyed characters and villains we loved and had some of the most half-assed acting.

ASM>SM3

Well yes, in absolute terms SM3>>>>ASM, but context makes SM3 the bigger disappointment because SM2 is sogood.gif.

That said, we got ASM instead of SM4, so it can still apply.

There is truth in this.

Well, the only truth here is the gif thing.

SM3 has more gif worthy moments than good superhero movies, so I'm not so sure the so bad it's good bullshit would apply here.

It's also worth noting the characterizations in TASM were far better than the Raimi trilogy, by the time we're done we'll probably have much better and consistent characters. MJ Raimi is among the worst characters in comicbook movies. And the Peter in those films never learned anything.

EDIT: SM4 sounded awful, and SM3 already destroyed the characters, so what's the point? We got a reboot too soon, but the 4th one didn't sound much better. And without Franco we would get more Peter and MJ, which is awful.

I saw SM3 in the cimemas back when I was pretty much accepting of anything Superhero and even I thought it was shite. The one good bit was the birth of Sandman part.

I enjoyed ASM and will watch this when it comes out.

SM3 was one of the most tonally-confused movies I've ever seen. It goes from typical whimsical-Raimi to bizarrely morbid (the shit that happens to Harry) to soap opera (the memory loss stuff, Peter/MJ's entire relationship) to corny (everything involving Peter's turn to "evil"). The main characters are all unlikeable from a writing standpoint, especially the "heroes," and their respective actors are almost all phoning it in.

And yet, I still think it has more value as a film than ASM, even if that value is solely derived from the fact that it stands as a case study in how to construct a terrible blockbuster.

Spidey landing on the roof of the flying car upside down and turning over to land on his feet while holding it up is bad-ass.

Huh, that looks a lot better than I thought it would. Disappointed about Rhino though, seems he's not a big focus in the movie, would be a shame to throw the character in and then get him of him a few scenes later. Electro looks pretty good in motion, surprising after that not so great teaser. Anyway, more optimistic than I was before.

Jamie Foxx sucks, Electro looks lame, WTF at Harry Osborn casting, and the removal of Mary Jane. Just a really weirdly handled sequel.

I dunno, that comic con trailer looked pretty darn good to me! And at least it isn't all night shots like the first one.

It's only a matter of time now. It was on a website, now it was on YouTube, so it's out there. People have it. One way or another we will see it before this day is through!
